Should be interesting to read the comments after the game. Should be a good learning experience unless an injury is involved.
-
I would agree. However, someone like Kopech will need to completely change his style of pitching and im not sure that will happen until he truly fails with it. He talked in the offseason about throwing the fastest pitch ever. Instead of focusing on velocity,he needs to learn how to pitch. For all the issues discussed here he didnt give up a run.
-
He should be pretty close with 9 months of rehab, the throwing program and the Arizona and minor league starts. He may not have the endurance yet but he did ramp up to near 100 pitches in a start. This is more like the third week ofthe season for him. Edit: Im too old this new tablet is tough to type on accurrately.
-
He has always had control issues and always will because of the poor follow through and finish he uses.
-
Its can be the other way around as well. Each pitch puts enough stress on the elbow to injure the UCL. The muscles, of which the pronator is the largest, are the only structures still holding it together. So this injury doesnt necessarily mean the UCL is injured as in your scenario, although its possible, but it does mean he continues to put excessive stress to the area.

He has always had a high walk rate and with his pitching probably always will. So if people are waiting for that they may be waiting for years.
-
While all true. Sometimes to make the team the best in the lo g term you need to do whats best for the player. Any business will be better if they help the employees to advance their skills and performance.
-
I agree with everything you say except for the focus on service tine. They are past the Super 2 for the year. If they feel hes ready, he should come up. Covey walk rate was lower as his strikeout rate. Kopechs ratio was better.

Really. His K:BB was slightly worse than Kopech and his WHIP was only .1 better.

Uh oh. Not a good sign for a previous UCL guy. This is the primary muscle that supoorts the medial elbow.
-
I agree with any fan base issues. That shouldhave no bearing on the decision.
-
Thats fair that you dont see the consistency. However, I would trust the people that work with him everyday more. Again your premise tht the service time is more important then the development is what I disagree with.
-
Numbers arent the only thing that determines if he is ready. However, that could be a reason. Im not saying he needs to come up now. But the determining factor should be if they think he is ready not that they need to wait for next year for service time or that it wont hurt him to stay down.
-
You keep looking at it backwards. The sox shouldnt be thinking, what wont hurt their development. They should be looking at what is best for his develpment. I know we wont agree and maybe its the educator in me but I would focus on whats best for him not what wont hurt him. For examples look at mike trout. The angels brought him at the end of one year and he played a partial season the next brfore a full sea on in the third year. Maybe thats what they should do. They should bring him up whe they feel he is ready. We dont see him in the club house and dugout everyday. They do. They have said they want him to work on the changeup. He is probably throwing them more and in situations where he normally wouldnt to work on it. Are his stats skewed because of it?

not exactly what the advanced metrics people would want to hear about the person in charge of the draft.
-
You can take the baton for awhile. I've been saying this for weeks but I'm in the minority compared to the service time group.
-
You are correct. Many of the classic PEDs weaken the tendon due to its effect on the collagen and its disproportionate increase in the muscle's ability to generate tension compared to the tendon. So athletes with multiple severe tendon injuries raise a few eyebrows.
-
Hes also 1 1/2 years older than collins so everythung else being equal, hes the o e to push more aggressively.
-
Good band back in the day. Was he the lead guitar?
-
Post PED era taking its toll on older players.
-
Shouldnt either Collins or Zavala move to AAA?
-
Im going with the Abreu angry speech.

We agree on something! ????

Look at the DSL results. Not too often you win a game committing 8 errors. Of course the other team had 3.

I think you'll be disappointed then. I think both will be here by August.
