I disagree. When putting together a winning team you need players with varied skill sets. Not everyone should be high power high strikeout guys. Teams need the high OBP type as well. There arent enough high OBP and high slugging guys around.
Depends on your definition of success. The team winning the game, runs allowed or the pitcher having good stats? Things like FIP are based purely on strikeouts and walks so of course more strikeouts make his FIP look good.
I think more to the point of the poster isnt that he is phyically mature. Its that his father had him on a better workout regimen than most kids his age. This is why he has less room to improve than others not that he was naturally physically more mature.
Part of it is also that most of these players wont be seen by the average fan for 3-4 years if at all. Unlike the other sports where they will be seen the next year.
Agreed, I would love to see the Sox be able to use all 3. Just curious as to how it may work as I havent seen 3B reports on Madrigal. I dont know if he can slug 470 though.
Who is he going to displace, Moncada or Anderson? Most reports have him as a passable SS. I havent seen any 3B reports and most people like more power at 3B.
I love the high contact, high OBP guys. i stated before I would his swing. Most fans are focused on power today and I don't think he going to hit for much power.
Yeah. For the posters who think its a wasted pick with Singer o nly having a 3-4 starter ceiling, Magrigal doesnt scream All star either. I love his swing and he will be an OBP machiene but Im not sure hes a true high ceiling guy.
