QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 03:55 PM) I'd like to trade Sale before Q. Sale's the ace; but he should bring a lot more...a lot to rejuvenate the team. Q is signed for one more year and will help while rebuilding and then after rebuilt. I also like his smooth delivery - looks like he can pitch til he's 35 or 40. A good steady arm while rebuilding. And then too much drama around Sale. You do make a good point. They need to shop both and then make the call on which deal is better given the contract situation of both pitchers and the production level of each. Ithink it will be tough as both should bring a good return but sale is better than Quintana while quintana is signed for anextra year of control.

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 05:24 PM) Nice...maybe they can finish the year over .500...maybe. Mark Shiny, happy, people in the win thread.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 03:40 PM) Their opinion is legit. Just seems like they let things escalate too much Doesn't sound like it. They had a complaint, took it to the proper authorities and were unsatisfied with the outcome. They took measures to protect the "staff." They didn't break any rules and i'm sure they tipped the staff personally.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 04:06 PM) If this was his last game as a sox starter, it was a pleasure Q! Will always root for you because you were one of if not my favorite players on this team. Agreed. One of them should go and I think it will be him.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 03:01 PM) Why can't we draft, trade, or sign one eventually? If we have top 5 picks for a few years, we'll have a great chance at landing one. And if you deal Sale and Quintana, you're probably targeting a potential TOR starter in one of the deals. Plus we have Rodon and Alec Hansen (wild card) with ace potential already in the system. I don't think there is a great chance. These guys don't come along often. Even if you draft one, he's 4-5 years away minimum. All prospects have potential, Sale and Quintana are there. Hansen is 4 years away even if he makes it, which is far from a given.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 02:40 PM) Of course he'll say that. I'm sure he'll try but the Sox will get him. They dont HAVE to move either SPs. It's all a game of cat 'n mouse and smoke 'n mirrors game. I agree. That is why he won't be traded there.

QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 02:51 PM) Um.... so what happens in 3 years when they're still nowhere near a world series and won't give either $25+ million a year? No offense dude but that sounds like Kenny Williams. Yes, because KW is known for trading his top pitchers. The hardest commodity to find are top pitchers. Why trade all of them away when you can trade one, get back talent and make a run in two years? i don't think you understand how difficult it will be to find pitchers like Sale and Quintana.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 03:27 PM) Nice to see these guys continue to be focused on winning I do agree with their objection to this one. At least Sale controlled himself and didn't attack the food table with a knife.
-
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 12:54 PM) Agreed. DD will get his guy. Whether it's Q or Sale. Moncada has to be in either deal. I believe, he was quoted as moncada will not be included in any deal.
-
QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 12:49 PM) I don't get why we would deal one and not the other. Wouldn't moving both make more sense? Because then the team will not have a World Series shot for 5-7 years with no proven top of the rotation pitcher. they need to keep one.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 01:39 AM) Watch this and tell me you don't want him traded. http://m.tmz.com/#video/0_ior3ya9i/ He's no Black Jack with Stick Figure, that's for sure.
-
QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 10:29 AM) Mental midget. Trade him. If that's how he reacted to the guy who is thinking about trading him, imagine how he would react to the pisters on this board who WANT to trade him.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 09:40 AM) It was no doubt a stupid, immature, ridiculous thing to do. But years from now, everyone will be laughing about it. True, but yesterday Sale thought it was more important to show an utter lack of respect for others, including teammates.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 09:47 AM) If Sale was that uncomfortable in it, the answer is yes. Whether he truly was or not, only he knows. If it truly was that big of a deal, he could have pitched today. They could have used the ill excuse. To me it shows a mental weakness in sale. I have never heard anyone use the uncomfortable uniform excuse for performance. He just didn't want to wear them and this is how he thought it was appropriate to punish the people who were going to make him do it.

QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 08:50 AM) #teamsale #imwithhim The dude cares more about winning then some marketing event. And quite frankly he's one of the only guy's on this team that's performed day- in/out during the multi-year s*** storm. Reminds me of that scene in Vegas vacation. "I'm tired of this s***. I want something better!!!" Yes, so the proper response is to use a knife to destroy the property of others..

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 07:48 AM) Trading the number two lefty of his generation out of spite is how the White Sox end up in fourth or fifth place for another generation. Making Jose Quintana the centerpiece of the organization will ensure that we're even more irrelevant with the next generation of young fans in Chicago. Let's not forget it was Hahn who was dissed here on this occasion...can he keep his wits about him and make the perfect trade under these conditions? Does this happen with ANY manager...or is it simply a sign of a systemic lack of control that dates back to the last season of Ozzie at the helm (2011)? Did Don Cooper also help contribute to the creation of an environment where Sale feels he's so special he can get away with or basically be forgiven for anything because of his unique talent level? Why do you need to blame other people for his behavior? It his on him for his issues and actions. No one else caused this action. He's supposed to be an adult.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 08:27 AM) From the Paasan article: “Right now, in the major leagues, we’ve got dopers, domestic abusers, homophobes, misogynists and even a guy who spent time in prison for a DUI hit-and-run,” one executive said. “But a uniform vandal? Dammit, we have to draw the line somewhere.” I what he did was beyond stupid, but the he must go crowd doesn't put things in perspective. Probably just love the prospects of prospects, yet when they say he has to go, if they traded him and the prospects did not pan out would not remember according to them the Sox front office had no choice. Sale cutting up uniforms...dumb Sox not letting Sale pitch because of it...dumber Sox trading Sale for whatever they can get because he cut up uniforms....dumbest Actually I think this is more of a sign they want to keep him. If its true that this is the 4th incident of his anger issues, they needed to punish him somehow. If they are going to this extreme, I think they are trying to keep him but also modify the behavior. If they really wanted to trade him they would just let it go and who cares about the behavior.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 11:42 PM) Q is still scheduled to start tomorrow. I think he means the continued game not the scheduled game.

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 11:18 PM) Reading on another site.. says the argument started with the jerseys then Sale got into it with Hahn over the trade rumors and wanted to know what was going on... went ballistic from there. TIFWIW of course.. don't know the person who said it but it sounds likely to me. Hopefully, sale didnt pull out the knife while the argument was going on. Can you imagine being Hahn when sale is mad and pulls out the knife to attack the uniforms.?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 11:01 PM) Great media subplot for the City Series next week. You wonder if he will either apologize publicly or dig in further and refuse to discuss it at all. A testament to his character will be to see if he understands that he did not handle it well.
-
QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 10:57 PM) He's perfectly able to let management know that the jerseys are terrible. He can b**** and moan a lot if he wants. But he has to go out and pitch regardless. He also has to not stab the jerseys with a knife as a form of sabotage. I almost wonder if he thought he could get away with it without anyone knowing who did it. Either way he thought he could ruin the jerseys to get his way and the Sox had no choice but to nip it in the bud. Exactly,. If it was that bad he could have pitched tomorrow. I can understand the concept but his actions to rectify the problem are inexcusable.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 10:56 PM) Sale barks at Robin whenever he pulls him from the game. He's a lot of things, but mentally weak isn't one of them. If you think that the only recourse to wearing an uncomfortable uniform is attacking your teams uniforms with knife, yes you are. Besides what is there about yelling at your boss, makes you not mentally weak? It may means you're competitive or have anger issues but it doesn't make you mentally tough.
-
QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 10:52 PM) Too bad Jones couldn't field a f***ing ground ball Also Sale and the White Sox screwed over the fans that paid to see one of baseballs best pitch Reinsdorf and both organizations he owns are a f***ing joke I really can't believe so many people condone this type of behavior and blame management for punishing him.
-
QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 10:34 PM) Sale said they were VERY uncomfortable, let's see someone go out there and pitch in a suit and tie. If they strike out 9 batters or so against Detroit then I'm wrong, if they get blasted (which they will) then there might be something to it. Didnt the sox already alter the uniforms bc they were the ones that had shorts instead of pants. If he is truly that mentally weak, he has bigger issues. Of course, with his reported behavior in multiple cases, I guess it's proven he does.

QUOTE (harkness @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 10:40 PM) With the multiple rain delays... I doubt Sale would have pitched more than 2 innings anyway. True. But maybe he will still think twice before doing something again because of the way it started. It would be funny if he pitched in the continued game tomorrow and got the win. Suspended for the game for idiotic behavior but still gets the win.
