  1. This data is for the regular season. What is the data during the playoffs? As I said hitting gets teams there, the better pitching wins in the postseason. Although with the new rules changing both hitting and pitching approaches, it may change. There isn't enough data to show it yet.
  2. That is very short term thinking. The Sox need to hit to be good in the near future. The longer view is that the new FO should produce a better overall system. I don't think they will trade Robert. He doesn't have Boras for an agent.
  3. Agreed. But I also understand the hesitancy to sign pitchers to large long term deals.
  4. This is exactly why pitching is a priority. The bust rate is so high, Tema need more to get the chance at quality. Hitting will get you to the playoffs. Pitching is what wins in the playoffs. This is why the Orioles needs this type of trade otherwise it will be an early exit again.
  5. That's good to hear. I think he would do well there. He's seems pretty cool and collected on the mound.
  6. Also anyone who had COVID. Many documented cardiac issues after recovery. The NCAA made it mantory for endurance athlete to have a full cardiac work up for myocarditis before returning to practice.
  7. Just depends on the cause and the damage done. It can be more problematic for athletes as they typically train harder than your average person and the possibility of cardiac events such as strokes or blood clots is higher.
  8. I hope you're right. I just see too many posts stating that once cheap JR is gone, new new owner will come in to correct the spending. I'm skeptical about that but the other improvements are probably realistic. Except the not giving the long term contracts to pitchers. With injuries to pitchers I can understand that one.
  9. I don't disagree. I'm just don't think it's guaranteed to be better just because there is a new owner.
  10. We'll see how Cohen spends in a couple of years when the financial breaks and initial attention wanes.
  11. This is a point that David Samson talks about in his podcast. Owners get massive tax breaks and financial advantages for 5 years after buying a team. So many of them spend early. It's how they spend after that that really shows what there spending habits will be.
  12. But what makes you think said billionaire is going to just spend like crazy? It isn't the norm for baseball franchises.
  13. This brings us to a point I stated in another thread. If all of these owners are considered being cheap, JR, Orioloes, seattle..... Why are so many people convinced that the next White sox owner will be drastically different? It's not like JR is the only owner that everyone is considered cheap. don't get me wrong, I would love to see the next owner spend like crazy. But what are the odds that will happen with the trend in baseball?
  14. All depends if they changed his mechanics, if they were non-contact injuries.
  15. Probably. It's going to be similar to what the Cubs tried in the 70s with 3 inning pitchers. There just isn't enough good pitching. So the alternative is to let the the mediocre ones throw as hard as they can until their arm is tired. The pitch clock will hasten this change by making the outings even shorter as the pitchers can't rest between pitches and they will fatigue faster.
  16. Depends on your definition of "quickly." ?
  17. Basic negotiations. More bidders, the price goes up.
  18. Number 1, it's their most valuable negotiations chip when it comes to getting a salary cap. "we won't open the books until there is a reason to." Purely a union negotiations tactic.
  19. Merry Christmas to all! Have a great Holiday Season!
  20. But again, what is the incentive to close the gap? Even if they close it to 75% they won't be able to compete for the best FA. The best bet for all of the other teams is to build through the draft and with the draft really being a crap shoot, hope they get it right. Anything can happen I the playoffs but unless the high revenue teams are in the same division, they will always ha e the best chance to consistently be there and thus have the best chance to win.
  21. I have no idea. That's why I'm willing to see what he does. It sounds like he is doing all the right things from an organizational perspective so maybe he had an outstanding interview.
  22. To each his own, I'm not going to make those assumptions until proven otherwise. I'm not a physician. I'm a physical therapist and athletic trainer. I've worked with enough patients in 30 years not to make prior assumptions and deal with the data they provide.
  23. So, the new guy is the same as all the old ones? Why not give him the whole offseason before you assume he'll be incompetent.
  24. That's right. Under no circumstances should anyone say anything positive about a White Sox employee. You will be summarily bashed.
