  1. One of the good things about the win is we won while the other team hit more HR than we did. I like the more balanced look of the line up.
  2. There are a few thing with meniscus tears. First MRIs are not that accurrate and who knows the true extent of the tear. With meds the inflammation can go down and he won't have any problems with it but it could just as easily flip back into the joint. The article is right that he won't do anymore damage if he continues to play unless the meniscus tears more. These are possibilities especially with a guy his weight. Overall they probably figured if he tears it more we definitely need to do surgery to repair so let's let him try. With a tear that big they won't remove it. If you remove it, it's 4-8 weeks rehab. To repair it is 4-6 months, so let him try.
  3. As I sit here and think about this it's kind of confusing. The cortisone will decrease the inflammation but decreases the overall healing process. They are either very confident that the bone is healed and the injection won't effect it or very worried about the tendon. He has had plantar fasciitis and tendon problem in the foot before.
  4. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 08:59 PM) According to the Sox website, Frank got a cortisone injection today, too. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=cws good find I didn't see that. This is probably the reason he can't run not the scar tissue. One of the tendons on the inside of his foot the posterior tibilais tendon inserts into the bone that he fractures and had the bone graft. If the screws inserted there are irritatingthe tendon it would definitely cause problems with running. As a wise man once said "curiouser and curiouser"
  5. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 08:58 PM) Thanks, just curious. I think you were in on the steroids hearing thread too (too lazy to look it up now). Interesting info... I was indeed, been involved with many patients mixed up with that stuff.
  6. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2004 @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 08:55 PM) Thanks for sharing your info with us. I try. The variety of people on this board is what makes it so enjoyable
  7. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 08:51 PM) Are you in medicine, btw? You seem to know something about these things. I'm a physical therapist and athletic trainer who has worked in the MLB and minors in the past.
  8. I stated on an earlier topic that he should not have this scar tissue in the first place. While this news at first glance is no big deal. The more secondary problems that arise the more worried I get about this. This was potentially a career thretening injury to start with and the longer it drags on the complicated it could become. Here's hoping the negative thoughts these continued problems bring are just the dark side creeping into my mind.
  9. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 08:30 PM) I posted this elsewhere but it still applies It's kind of picky but the article said the abductor muscle. These are the muscles usually associated with hip pointers not the groin muscles. The adductors are the groin. Ihope the writer just got it wrong like they usually do, otherwise the problem is worse then they thought.
  10. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 08:30 PM) From the article on Chisox.com, it appears he's fine. They just understand how valuable he is, and they're just being cautious. http://whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/ar...t=.jsp&c_id=cws It's kind of picky but the article said the abductor muscle. These are the muscles usually associated with hip pointers not the groin muscles. The adductors are the groin. Ihope the writer just got it wrong like they usually do, otherwise the problem is worse then they thought.
  11. QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 05:00 PM) Well, the real question is who goes away? It would have to be between Harris, Timo and Ozuna. If it were me making the choice Willie would go, but I'd understand it if they decided Ozuna has less potential. They need RH on the bench so I think Ozuna is safe. Timo is probably gone but Ozzie really likes him so who knows.
  12. QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 04:23 PM) OK.. I gotta ask.. what does it feel like to have a groin strain..?? On the serious side, the groin muscles are the adductor muscles on the inside of the thigh and hip. The muscles are used to bring the leg in toward the other leg. These muscles come in to play specifically when leading off from a base and crossing over. As you can see there are under a great deal of stress in a base stealer. They are also used quite a bit during normal running gait. With an LHP on the mound and a cold night it's just a good all around evening to rest it some more.
  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 11:59 AM) I hope they do add back some capacity that they lost. They can sell every bit of 50,000 seats for the Cubs, Yankees, and Red Sox series, in addition to opening. I am not sure what they would do to add back now, but who knows. But I'll take your bet, because all indications seem to indicate that they are done with the big work. If it wasn't for the color change of the seats, no one would have ever known that was even happening. I agree. The seat were a planned change before the renovations. The reason they say the renovation are complete is because they are. The changing of the seats was necessary maintainence because of the life expectancy of the material not a renovation.
  14. QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) Is it full size ptatc...??? That's a cool gift. I can't remember the coolest Sox gift I've gotten... I think all the stuff is cool. Yes, it's a full sized one. It was used from an arcade. I love to tinker around with it. It has a glove to aim for and lights like a stadium. That's why it's the best of the many I have received.
  15. For my 30th my wife got me a Big Hurt pinball machiene. It''s one of the best presents I have ever received. It combines two of my favorites: pinball and the White Sox. After I got it I went to a Soxfest and brought the directions card that sits inside the glass and had him sign it.
  16. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 12:00 PM) What good is major league experience when you dont produce, just like Joe. Power is nothing when you can make contact with the ball in the first place, and his defense has started to lack as well. Ozuna was always touted as a great prospect as well, and he makes good contact, plays good defense and is speedy on the base paths. I think he is a better option at this point. And when Joe is gone after the season, that is one less hole in our lineup Does the lineup need more contact with no power potential (Ozuna) or more power with potential for contact (Crede) right now? A question for the ages. Basically you know what you have in Ozuna, a utility player who may get hot. The jury is out on Crede. Leave him in for one more year then get an upgrade if needed.
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 11:46 AM) The team is better off with Ozuna playing third this season anyway. That's true considering he is 30 years old and has so much major league experience Joe is a good defensive 3B and has good power. He will be gone when he becomes a FA because of Boras. I'm in
  18. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 12:19 PM) We just need to find a way to win either of these next two. Just win series. Exactly!!! Nothing else matters just win!!!!!
  19. I heard the interview and mostly agree with Jim H. The line of questionong was about past problems ie. Mags, Phil Jackson and if Ozzie and Scott Skiles will be back because he hasn't signed them to new deals. Silvy and Carmen commented that these are the things on the minds of the fans. JR could have handled it better but the hosts ended it by saying they didn't even talk about Eddy Curry's health status. While these are good questions, theey are questions for a GM or a coach not the owner. They should realize an owner does not want to discuss day to day runnig of the team. As JR told them "Those are issues for the GM and I let them run the team." I like the hosts as a whole but they need to realize what questions are appropriate, especially in light of the Bulls doing well and the MLB starting.
  20. QUOTE(LostInBoston @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 03:51 PM) Kinda funny - also in the Mariners starting lineup: M. Olivo J. Reed Mariners are becoming a poor man's Sox. 0 hits and 3 Ks combined.
  21. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 3, 2005 -> 08:41 PM) Herm has talked about scar tissue all along. I have a tough time believing that he wouldn't know that it was there. He is with Frank pretty much every day. Yes, he would know if its there and Herm is an outstanding trainer so it wouldn't slip by him. The question I have is why is it there? Unless it is from the incision site, bone grafts do not normally produce scar tissue that would need to be torn to run on.
  22. This reports should be read with some skepticism. He had two screws and a bone graft inserted into a bone. There should not be any scar tissue involved with this unless it involves the incision site. Another possibility is he has had plantar fascia problems with this foot in the past. It could have tightened up with the extended period of non-weight bearing. His progress should bear watching and may take longer than expected. The latter date of June 1 may be more realistic.
  23. QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 1, 2005 -> 09:40 PM) That would be...? The video clip on the right. For some reason it did show on your last message on my screen. I was missing her already.
  24. QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 1, 2005 -> 09:36 PM) Is he a horrid base runner because he doesn't steal 50 bases or because he actually runs the bases bad? Bring back the other part of your sig!!!!!!! It was the best part.
  25. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 1, 2005 -> 09:32 PM) Willie has all the speed in the world but can't do anything with it because he is a horrible base-runner. I bet Ozzie likes Timo more because he actually KNOWS how to run the bases. true. But I wonder if they believe with Raines working with him if he can get better. I think they knoe what they have with Timo but believe they may be able to get more out of Willie, although you are correct in saying he hasn't shown it yet. With the emergence of Ozuna either Willie or Timo are expendable so I think they may go for the potential upside of Willie. IMHO.
