saw Jesus and Mary Chain last night - great show!

yeah, this series could go either way. how will the 8-day layoff affect the Rocks? How will Coors Field affect Wakefield's knuckleball? But I hate Boston (they're the new Yankees - their fans are complete assholes) - so go Rockies!

QUOTE(BurlyMan56 @ Oct 22, 2007 -> 09:14 AM) Paul Byrd looks like the Undertaker I always thought he looked like Chris Benoit. but what a great interview. I'm no fan of religion, but it's interesting the way he talks about it being a part of his life and not wearing it on his sleeve like some do - especially the home run point that a lot do. interesting......

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Oct 21, 2007 -> 02:42 PM) This thread is losing steam lately. What's new and interesting?? best band I've heard this year is a local LA band: The Automatic Music Explosion. http://www.myspace.com/theautomaticmusicexplosion scroll down the page - the songs posted are new (the promo is good), but the videos are of the songs I like. "Cmon cmon" is a masterpiece. "16 years" is great too. They're first album was just recorded by the guy who discovered Blondie - comes out next year. Best live show I've seen for a local band.

this seems really unlikely. I don't think Kobe is moving.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 16, 2007 -> 06:21 PM) I don't know, I've always been partial to "Afternoon Delight". I just LOVE how bad that song is, sound effects and all. General Hospi-tale.

when did the season start - I saw highlights on Sportscenter yesterday, and didnt even know the nhl had even started. Shows how much the media cares about hockey.

Back to the original topic - this radio show sounds GREAT! Penn & Teller have been doing an atheist podcast for some time, but a show on a over-the-air is awesome. It's too bad that show isn't on KTLK - the local progressive station. Let's hear it! Expose that crap for what it is - baseless superstition.

was he still the champion?

QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 16, 2007 -> 03:18 PM) Somebody PLEASE stop Vince Russo. David Arquette Returning to Wrestling? Date Added: October 16, 2007 Story By: Marc Middleton Partial source: Wrestling Observer - TNA is in talks with former WCW World Champion and actor David Arquette about making his TNA debut. Apparently Arquette has contacted Johnny Fairplay to be his manager. In other bad news, Booker and Sharmell's WWE release is official. Hahahahahahahahahahaha!!! Is Marc Middleton a pen name for David Arquette? Love it. btw, Batista & Melina WERE screwing around - that's why they moved MNM to Raw. They aren't anymore, supposedly she's still with Nitro. Have you read the book or are you summarizing what some crappy website recaps?

Heard Across the Universe was very Mamma Mia-- story was a pretense for the songs. Is that true? no interest in Into the Wild - is there a plot? or does the guy wander aimlessly in the wilderness for two hours and then die? went to the 30 Days of Night premiere last night - I loved it! Good suspense, story, acting, etc. The vampires weren't too cheesy, and Josh Hartnett actually was okay. Good action and violence too. I recommend it.

Apparently, they've changed plans for Cyber Sunday. It was supposed to be Orton v Triple H with possible stipulations being Hell in a Cell, No DQ, or Falls Count Anywhere, but after HBK's return last night (which was not tied to the Save.Us.222 thing), fans will now decide Orton's challenger between HBK, Jeff Hardy, or Ken Kennedy. They laid out Triple H possibly to give Michaels the spotlight in his quest for revenge (which is a great place to go for this storyline IMO). Then Trips will come for Orton maybe in the new year, or maybe they'll hold off on it long enough til Wrestlemania. I'm not 100% convinced the 2nd Coming is for Jericho. I hope so, but the new Hart Foundation also fits those criteria.

A great PPV for a change. Very exciting and unpredictable. And whaddya know, I actually rooted for Randy Orton. Weird. (anything to keep HHH from having the belt.) so Triple H v Orton has been announced for Cyber Sunday, with fans voting on whether to have it Falls Count Anywhere, No DQ, or Hell in a Cell. Isn't HIAC no-dq by definition?

QUOTE(Soxfest @ Oct 2, 2007 -> 02:21 PM) Breaking News: John Cena Out 6-8 Months Story posted by Ryan Clark on October 02, 2007 The following is from WWE.com. BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – WWE Champion John Cena has suffered a complete tear of his right pectoral tendon and is heading into surgery, according to noted orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews. Because of the seriousness of the injury, WWE officials will not allow Cena to compete this Sunday at No Mercy, and he will have no choice but to surrender the title. Dr. Andrews said Cena could miss between six and eight months of action. Cena was injured during his match Monday night on Raw with Mr. Kennedy. Before visiting Dr. Andrews, Cena had said, “No matter how serious, the injury, one way or another I’ll be ready to compete on Sunday.” But despite Cena’s vow, WWE officials will not allow him to compete at No Mercy. Therefore, he must surrender the WWE Championship. WWE officials vow that there will be a WWE Championship Match this Sunday at No Mercy and a new WWE Champion will be crowned. Anybody else see HHH winning the belt on Sunday? dude, read above - I already posted it.

PWInsider: WWE champion John Cena was diagnosed with a complete tear of his right pectoral muscle today by Dr. James Andrews and is expected to be out 6-8 months following surgery. As first reported last night on PWInsider.com, Cena suffered the tear during a hiptoss spot in the Raw main event against the returning Ken Kennedy. That would put Cena back at the earliest in April (meaning he will miss Wrestlemania) and at the worst, June 2008. John Cena will be stripped of the WWE championship with a new champion slated to be crowned this Sunday at the No Mercy PPV in Chicago.

QUOTE(Soxy @ Sep 27, 2007 -> 08:31 AM) Liking Hitchcock is a watermark for a successful relationship. Don't like him? Sorry, not going to work. She likes the other ones (North by Northwest, Man Who Knew, Rebecca, Marnie, etc) but doesnt get Vertigo. It does require a suspension of disbelief, but then again, what movie doesn't? My thesis film for film school was a sort of Vertigo in high school. She liked that, but then again, she's biased. Saw a great old noir film btw last week called Criss Cross. anyone ever see that movie? Burt Lancaster, armored truck robbery goes wrong, great film.

If anyone gets a chance to see "Sea of Dreams", do it - a good friend directed it. It's in spanish, but what you gonna do?

the new FF is great! The last two albums were horrible IMO, but this one, while a little different, is pretty solid. there's a couple clunkers at the end of the album, but the good stuff overshadows that. "Long Road to Ruin" is awesome, and I love "Pretender". I'm interested to see what they'll play on tour. Looks like that Gil Norton hiring was a good thing.....
-
If the pectoral tear is true, and Cena's gonna be out for a while - which is BAD for business btw - and Orton wins - the question will always hang over Orton - he only won because Cena got hurt. Unless Cena can't even make the PPV - then what will they do? Throw in Kennedy (make it heel v heel), make the Triple H/Umaga a triple threat, throw in the IC champ (who doesn't have a match at this point), or do an injury angle. Either way, this is bad news.
