  1. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ May 19, 2006 -> 10:41 AM) Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez' parents may have been illegal aliens. This came out during an interview on CNN so nobody actually saw it. How can his parents be illegals?
  2. I heard that there are plans to repatriate 16 Saudi's back to Saudi Arabia. That very well could be the motive behind this attempted suicide. The treatment the get from the Saudi government would make Gitmo look like a country club.
  3. QUOTE(shoota @ May 20, 2006 -> 03:32 AM) Thanks for sharing, I missed that. That whiny behavior is consistent with Maddux's Danny Ainge-like personality. Anyone else notice Maddux regularly blowing into his pitching hand and not bothering to wipe it off before touching the ball? I thought this was only allowed in cold-weather games, and the pitcher has to be off the rubber. As if those attempts at cheating weren't enough, he wiped his pitching hand across his forehead, then brought that sweat on the ball. Hang it up old timer, have you no respect for yourself? The umpires had to have given the pitchers permission to go to their mouths on the mound. They'll do that if the think it's cool enough.
  4. You should have made a deal with the devil. You've already sold your soul, but at least you wouldn't have to suffer the public humiliation.
  5. Very enjoyable game to watch. After Pods took the first 2 pitches from Maddux in the 1st inning, I thought "Good. The ump's not going to expand the zone for him." Both of those pitches were close.
  6. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 19, 2006 -> 07:40 AM) IIRC, this isnt the first time(by a long shot) that she has been spotted getting drunk in the past 5 months. Why is it that she can be drunk while pregnant and just get a pass on it? She almost drops her kid, holds him in her lap while driving, drinks while pregnant, lets her kid drop from his high chair. Yep, thats a fit mom. Send her ass back to Louisiana, this sort of behavior must be ok where she is from. Of course there are no unfit mothers in Chicago or wherever the hell your from. That was a classless comment to make.
  7. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ May 19, 2006 -> 08:32 AM) Sorry, I have a hard time thinking anyone who's 12 is really doing something "in cold blood." Man, what world are you living in? Of course there are evil, sadistic, murdering 12 year olds.
  8. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ May 19, 2006 -> 08:46 AM) There are lots of differences between Truman and Bush. First, Truman was willing to investigate allegations of wrongdoing within his own administration. Second, the Truman administration was willing to change tactics of operations in Korea when it was apparent that things weren't working. Third Korea and Iraq don't deserve comparison. Korea was fought in a bipolar world regime where there was a legitimate need on the basis of US interests to combat a communist ideology and keep its interests alive and well in Asia. Iraq was an elective war, fought with an enemy that had no ideological bend and was sold as a central front with the war on terror. Despite the fact that the administration itself knew within ten days of September 11, that Iraq most likely had nothing to do with recent terror attacks against the US and had no serious connection with Al-Qaeda - the main non-state actor that we have been "fighting" for the last five years. The decision to go into Korea was an international one and for much of the fight was fought under the UN flag no less. That didn't happen in Iraq either. I thought it was an interesting comparison. Not worth arguing about, though.
  9. The sight is a pathetic one. An embattled president moves into a second term that quickly turns into an uninterrupted downhill slide: poll approval sinking to the low 30s; his own party members distancing themselves at every opportunity; his political capital now consumed by a once-popular war that became a hopeless quagmire with no end in sight; a war in which he persists, determined to stay the course despite the political cost, refusing to abandon the valiant allies who took his commitment seriously. 10. QUOTE(Walker2Baines @ May 19, 2006 -> 03:32 AM) Yes I'm joking. It's funny though, I remember that other fan, Eric Dybas, who tried to attack an umpire, more. That fan was a real f***ing moron. That umpire was built like a damn linebacker. If I remember correctly, the ump was also an ex-marine. The dude made a bad choice.
  11. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ May 18, 2006 -> 07:34 PM) It won't pass. There wouldn't be more than one or two Democrats that would vote for this amendment in the first place and even Specter says he's going to vote against it. He just has to carry the water and force the issue through to the full Senate floor. Doesn't a proposed constitutional admendment have to be ratified by 2/3 of the states before a convention can be called? That's what I'm afraid of .... that there will be enough states ratify this to open a convention. Once that happens, then the constitution is at the mercy of the pols at the convention.
  12. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 18, 2006 -> 09:10 PM) We don't need no stinkin wild card Let's hope not.
  13. QUOTE(Walker2Baines @ May 19, 2006 -> 03:14 AM) What are you talking about? Nobody has ever attacked a coach at a Sox game. This must be some made up bulls*** from the f***ing Cubane paper. Unless you are joking here, let me assure you that it did happen.
  14. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 19, 2006 -> 03:07 AM) You win this round.
  15. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 19, 2006 -> 03:04 AM) I hope everyone knows I was joking. I believe everyone is well aware of your posting history. Which is why it's good that you clarified.
  16. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 19, 2006 -> 03:00 AM) I personally think Widge should be moved to cf, but that's jmo. Pass me what you're smoking, and I'll consider your idea.
  17. QUOTE(Walker2Baines @ May 19, 2006 -> 01:09 AM) Who's this Ligue guy? William Ligue is the guy, along with his son, who came from the stands and attacked Royals 1B coach Tom Gamboa at US Cellular Field a few years ago.
  18. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 19, 2006 -> 02:55 AM) And to think about a month ago some people wanted Ozuna kicked off the team because he couldn't even play LF properly. "To think" are very key words. Because, that's what's not happening when a suggestion like this is made.
  19. I don't think it's a given the Tigers are going fall out of it. They aren't going to maintain this pace, but they can be a constant pain in our backsides all year. Throw all the ERA's and whatever you have out there, but they don't amount to a hill of beans. Some pitchers learn how to pitch in the big leagues after a few years and that might be the case for the Tigers. It's too early to tell, but you can't assume they will fall back to their previous norms. All that said, I'm confident that this Sox team is just better and will eventually and steadily pull away from the rest of the division.
  20. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this "idea" for the second consecutive day.
  21. Damn good read, Mike.
  22. I am totally opposed to opening a constitutional convention for this. In fact, I can't think of a single issue right now that I'd be in favor of letting those bastards get their hands on our constitution.
  23. QUOTE(WCSox @ May 18, 2006 -> 04:38 PM) He played like crap until about June and then went on an absolute tear. I've never seen a hot streak like that since. Ya. Once the Sox were basically out of it. Then he comes up "big".
  24. QUOTE(Steff @ May 18, 2006 -> 09:49 AM) Everytime they showed the assholes walking towards the house I kept trying to see him, but couldn't. That's one effective costume. If there is a dog around, it'll be the one that moves when the dog tries to 'mark' it.
