Bunch of damn hypocrits. You're all for "equality under the law" yet you disparage a group of people based on where they live and for whom they vote. No wonder the Democratic Party gets it's ass kicked over and over and over and over again.

I'm against capitol punishment when it comes to unborn. They are totally innocent. As for the others, well, they reap what they sow. Larry, Kentucky

As they say, it's all about the name on the front of the uniform and not the name on the back of it. I'll root for Frank Thomas when he's playing Minnesota, Detroit, Cleveland and Kansas City. I'll root against him when he's playing against the Sox. The rest of the time, I wish him well but I no rooting interest whatsoever.

Hell, two years ago, most on here would have traded Paulie for a bag of batting practice balls.

Since Pods doesn't offer protection, Ozzie's putting the vet (Crede) in the #9 spot to offer protection for the rookie. Sounds like a smart move to me.

WSCR 670 reporting Podsednik in CF, Anderson in LF
YASNY replied to SSH2005's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Jan 29, 2006 -> 02:40 AM) WSCR 670 The Score is reporting that Podsednik will play CF and Anderson will play LF. The update also had a quote from Anderson saying that the team needed to work hard to replace Rowand. This sounds like the same crap that happened last year regarding what positions Podsednik and Rowand would play. I doubt it happens. It sounds like The Score screwed up to me. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Jan 28, 2006 -> 03:28 AM) I wouldn't doubt Frank's ability to hit homers at the Coliseum. Did everyone forget July 3rd against the A's last season? http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...d=cws&ym=200507 July 3: CWS @ OAK • Thomas' HR: 56K | 350K He destroyed Zito. No one is saying Frank is incapable of hitting HRs in Oakland. It's just that a lot of that leave the Cell are going to be long flyouts in Oakland.

QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jan 28, 2006 -> 02:28 AM) It is hard to imagine anyone not rooting for Frank to some degree. He was the face of the organization for a decade and a half. I just don't think there will be too much to root for this year. I wish him the best, but fear the worst. 52 HRs seems like a long way away. Using his career averages, he would need almost 800 ABs to get 52 HRs and the most ABs he had in one season was 582 (2000). He obviously is nowhere near that form anymore, so if he can get 300 ABs this year (which would seem almost like a miracle), he might be able to put up 20-25 HRs. That would still leave him 27-32 short of 500 and without a contract in 2007 at the age of 39. And that's with home games in what used to called The Coliseum. That's not the Cell he'll be trying to jack them out of.

QUOTE(Beltin'Bill @ Jan 28, 2006 -> 12:04 AM) I agree. It is not so much that I love to wait for beer and bladder relief at a packed ballpark, but I welcome the extra revenue to pay the players. However, I will draw the line at opponent's home runs being thrown back on the field of play. If we can keep that from catching on, I will refrain from mocking the bandwagon. Point the "fan" out to security. A few escorts out of the ballpark should eliminate that stuff.

If it was me making the decision to choose between Thome+Anderson vs. Thomas+Rowand I'd go with the former. Frank is officially consider old bordering on ancient in baseball terms as well as significant risk for career ending injury and is injury prone to boot. Thome has been solid everyday player year in and year out until '05. His chances of returning to an every day player are exponentially greater than Frank's. Anderson vs. Rowand I believe will be a wash.

You sure don't mind throwing derogatory comments around, do you?

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 03:45 PM) I'm not sure I agree with either side, so I'm going to play devil's advocate for a moment: 1. Yes, they live "Within" the borders of Israel...borders which were created after Israel conquered them in an invasion. Almost every nation I know about has recognized in some fashion that Israel is not going to be able to continue occupying that territory until the end of time. 3. There would be a vastly lower amount of Palestinians trying to kill Israelis if the Israelis were to stop trying to build settlements on land within the occupied territories. So, we should give California, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona back to Mexico?

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:35 PM) Damn, you beat me to it. Truer words were never spoken. The south is full of a bunch of redneck dupes - including the family I married into. :headshake

Prospects are great. I love 'em. I want the Sox to have a lot of 'em. But when it comes down to it, the whole shebang, every player in the Sox system, all the managers and coaches up and down the minor league system, the whole existance of the organization is set up to do two things. Turns profits and win championships. That's it. That's what it's all about. Williams finally was able to achieve the championship after an 88 year 'slump'. He agressively went out and tried to make that World Championship team even better. He traded away a very good OF prospect to make the pitching staff stronger. It doesn't calculate that he would then trade a very good pitcher from the big league staff to replace the very good OF prospect with another one. He might consider it if a decent young pitcher capable of being in the rotation or bullpen is part of the deal. But to trade Jose Contreras for any AA player in baseball is counterproductive for the White Sox at this particular point in time. Flat out, it doesn't make sense.

Frank Thomas signs with Oakland Athletics
YASNY replied to OfficerKarkovice's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Good luck to Frank in Oakland. I've been expecting this backlash from Frank. You had to know it would come sooner or later. The Sox would be smart not respond in any way about Frank's comments. Just let it go and move on. -
Good day folks. I'm gonna crash.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 03:25 PM) Hmph...I always suspected Yas was part of a new version of COINTELPRO...trying to get us to turn into revolutionaries so the FBI can take us into custody...now I have proof. That does not warrant a response .. green or not.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 03:24 PM) No, YAS. I'm asking you what they should do since you pretend to have all the answers regarding this. I wish I would have waited before withdrawing my remarks until I saw this. I don't begin to believe I have the answers to the democrats problems, nor do I want to give them advice. Let them figure it out for themselves. They're the braintrust that advocates your position. Let's see what they can do.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 03:18 PM) YAS, What the hell can they do then? Short of lead a popular uprising and attempting a coup, what on earth do they have the rights to do? Wait. I'm fairly close to drunk and very much in need of sleep. I withdraw the comment above because I can't give it the thought that is required to give a reasonable response.

What? Are you saying that your leaders are too damn stupid to topple a corrupt, constitution ignoring president?

I own a 98 Ford F-150 pickup that I bought new. After 158,000 miles there is only one major repair I've had to make on it... that was to replace the transmission. Other than that, it is still a very nice truck.
-
Rex Kickass. All I see are the Dems questioning things. Not 'doing' anything. Same ol' same ol'. NorthSideSox ... That's exactly what I'm talking about. They don't have any backbone for fear of political backlash. If this was such a slam dunk issue, they'd be swarming like bees to honey.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:46 AM) Well the argument was that Mark was better than those guys, including some other Cy Young winners. Then it went to that Mark was better than them because they only had 1 or 2 good years. Then it was Mark is the better pitcher in the playoffs. Then it was ERA doesnt matter. How in the hell can you keep up with where the argument has gone?

QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:40 AM) A .936 OPS is pretty good.. Yes. He had one good post season, after a few horrid ones. He wasn't exactly Mr. Clutch with the Pirates.
