  1. I should get bonus joints for partially sliding my name in there, by the Bay.
  2. What am I missing here? I didn't see any humor in that at all.
  3. I'm with NorthSideSox 100% on this issue. Once a 'poll tax' is established in any manner or form, then precedent will have been set. Then, theoretically, the financial level can be raised at will to prevent certain citizens from voting.
  4. I agree that he's correct in what the Democrats need to do. I don't agree that war has been waged incompetently, but that's just my opinion.
  5. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 3, 2006 -> 06:06 AM) Well, I gotta admit the dog is a pretty good ringer for Pelosi: I think they had Cindy Sheehan portrayed quite well, too.
  6. QUOTE(juddling @ Feb 3, 2006 -> 12:15 AM) democratic family album That's good stuff. Thanks for the laughs.
  7. Good work, Steff. ironic choice of smilies, eh?
  8. Eh .... I think the Sox handled it just fine. I don't know what Frank expected but over the last few years JR has coddled him as much as possible.
  9. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Feb 3, 2006 -> 04:20 AM) Well I wouldnt go that far.... Wins do mean something but yeah they are far from everything.... some pitchers pitch to Win though like if we score 5 runs they will give up 4 if we score 3 they give up 2 and so on.... I think Jack McDowell was a lot like that. He was very much like that. The only stat that mattered to him was the W.
  10. They've got the right to run their crude, tasteless cartoon.
  11. I never judge a young player based on his first "cup of coffee" in the majors. He's walking into a completely foreign environment and expected to perform against the best in the world.
  12. QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 04:19 PM) I LOVE THE SUNDAY LINEUP! That Sunday lineup contributed immensely to a WS victory.
  13. sour pals all need to get pain
  14. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 04:10 PM) What could the church do to punish these priests? There isn't a Fort Leavenworth-like jail where Army prisoners go. You can't whip them back behind the cathedral. All the church can do is move him, defrock him and excommunicate him. What's the Cardinal or Pope or Bishop gonna do? Give him a stern talking to? Smack him on the knuckles with a ruler? I mean, c'mon. Remember the law is based on Judeo-Christian teachings. I say, we hang him, then we stab him, then we tattoo him...AND THEN we kill him!!! How about not transferring the offender to another parish? How about turning all evidence over to the proper authorities? How about stop trying to bury the crimes as opposed to standing up for the children of the faithful?
  15. Clearly, it is scum like this that the death penalty was designed for. I'm talking about the worst of the worst. Call me what you will, but if I was the father of that little girl, I'd be waiting right outside the prison gates when and if the day came when they opened the doors to let him out. He'd never take one breath as a free man.
  16. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 03:36 PM) Um, they're basically still doing exactly that. Social Security will be running a surplus until roughly 2017 give or take a year or two. Right now, that surplus is being used to purchase bonds from the General fund. But because this is the government buying bonds from itself...it doesn't count in the total "National Debt" or yearly deficit totals or whatever you want to call them. Those bonds make up the Social Security Trust Fund...basically a big pile of U.S. government debt that is held by the Social Security Administration. So every extra dollar right now which has come into the government through Social Security taxes has in fact been spent by the general fund. There are just papers saying that the general fund will pay them back when the balance moves to the other side. The whole idea of a "Lockbox" was to have the government stop spending the extra SS dollars in the general fund and instead hold onto that money to try to make the hit on the general fund easier when the baby boom retirement does hit in full force. Of course they're still doing it. That's part of the problem. Of course, the biggest part of the problem is that they ever started to begin with.
  17. QUOTE(Soxy @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 03:26 PM) That a church is like a family--and that it should be handled internally because it's really no one else's business. Not a compelling argument. Not only is it not compelling, but it is ludicrous. That's like saying a biological father shouldn't be arrested for molesting his daughter because it's a family matter.
  18. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 01:53 PM) If only we could trust them to invest wisely. Look at the number of personal bankruptcy in this country. Those are the ones that will hit 65 without any money. Toss in an illness, we are living longer, and boom we have problems. What I think we can agree on is SS should be a safety net only. There should be adequate planning above and beyond SS. It should not be the sole source of income. The biggest problem I see is too many people hitting retirement trying to live just on SS. The biggest problem I see is that back in the 60's, I believe, they took the social security funds, which were at a surplus, and put those into the general funds.
  19. All the more reason why the world's Muslims should be backing the effort to create a democracy in Iraq. Then they could have a nation that is free, yet also based on the cultures and tradition of it's peoples.
  20. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 05:10 PM) Nuke, read it again, I know it's a reflex to call the media liers, but this one is against the Dems. Ummmm ... Read NUKE's post again.
  21. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 02:37 PM) It's just the people that don't have a boat to begin with that drown. Swimming is too much work.
  22. QUOTE(Wong & Owens @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 11:55 AM) Keep looking at it that way(and this goes for people strictly on the other side too) and watch things continue to get worse. And those you so blindly and adamantly support are laughing all the way to the bank, and they're stepping on all of us to get there. Seems this post was broadbrushed with something of a blue tint to it. And since we are talking colors, pot meet kettle.
  23. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 12:12 PM) Your point? You notice of course, that the word 'equal' is on the far left in that pic.
  24. Oh, don't get me wrong. I think we a big change in DC. Just, not to the Democrats. This country would go to hell in a hand basket.
