QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 08:18 AM) YAS, isn't it nice to know, if we ever meet in person at least we won't argue about music We've been pretty close on our selections. That's ok, I'm sure we will find something to disagree about.

QUOTE(BobDylan @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 03:11 AM) By the way, are the Kinks getting a fair wrap having their name spelled wrong as "The Kins"? EDIT: I guess I was late in voting anyway. Outcry for the Kinks! We are already into round 2.
  3. Thoughts and prayers from me as well.
  4. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 10:21 PM) Part of the US fleet has been changed, most has not. And in 2002, even less had been changed.
  5. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 08:49 PM) That is actually what it was named in 2002 when it would have been targeted. Correction. It was called the Library Tower.
  6. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 11:36 PM) Yep, I'm not saying the Federal level shouldn't help, but obviously the State and Local goverenments need to most responsible for getting help as soon as possible. Thank you. That's what I've been trying to say. The Feds, of course, have to shoulder their share of the blame. However, it seems like Blanco and Nagin are getting a free pass on this, when the ball started in their court.
  7. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 03:10 PM) If you want to call Hillarity stupid for criticizing the Administration for playing the fear card while the Dems are doing the same thing, go ahead, that makes sense. But when the Vice President told us that, to paraphrase, if we voted for John Kerry in 2004 there was a danger we'd be attacked again, I think anyone who supports Bush has given up the right to criticize someone for "playing the fear card". (and you know as well as I do that's just the tip of the iceberg) Who criticized prior to your post?
  8. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 12:43 AM) Could you imagine a civilian spouting off more party talking points than you just did? Now that is scary. You've got your own conservatives to worry about.
  9. QUOTE(Felix @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 07:05 PM) Wins are team dependant. Wins are mostly dependant on the teams offense. Looking at their ERA/WHIP is a better way of indicating how good they are (as is looking at other numbers). You can be a crappy pitcher and win 15+ games. You can be an amazing pitcher and win 13 games (Roger Clemens last year). Doesn't mean the crappy pitcher is better than the amazing pitcher because the crappy pitcher has more wins. I think I just said "wins are team dependant" like 3 or 4 times in one post. I know. You seem to say that a lot.
  10. That's not a bad scouting report for someone signed off the scrap heap.
  11. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 01:51 PM) How about command and control from the feds, sending state and local resources? I know that has problems but it would avoid a switch in command and control later when the s*** is really hitting the fan. It avoids turf battles, maybe. The state and locals have to be willing to give up command and control.
  12. QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 01:54 PM) The bill I got last month said I didn't owe them any money at all! I sent them a check anyway for the average amount of our bill so I don't get socked for double next month. They're really horrible at that estimating thing... For the record ... You don't owe me any money at all.
  13. QUOTE(canes98 @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 01:34 PM) I live in Fort Myers, where the Twins have spring training. The local newspaper's website occasionally has a banner ad for Twins spring training tickets. The ad, displayed below notes that the Twins are back to back to back American League Central Division Champions. It does have the numbers 02 03 and 04 listed, but they are in about 6 point font, whereas the word Champions is in about 24 point font. Is this deceptive advertising or is it just me? Yes they won the division 3 times in a row, but they are not the reigning champions of the division. Do the Buffalo Bills market themselves as back to back to back to back AFC Champions in their ads? I doubt it. Am I overreacting on this? What's your opinion. Honestly, here's my reaction. *Yawn*
  14. QUOTE(mreye @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 01:37 PM) There's a town near me that had too much flouride in their water for years. All the people from there have black nasty teeth. No ... No ... This one is too easy.
  15. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 01:26 PM) So the mayor of the city which supposedly faced a potential attack shouldn't learn about those things say, when he becomes mayor, so as to allow for preparation if a potential target is ID'd? My point was ... He lied! Was that so hard to understand?
  16. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 01:30 PM) Hm. I had a dentist tell me once that people should drink more tap water because they add flouride to it (bottled water often doesn't have that). Some dentists apparently think the shift to bottled water is increasing incidence of cavities. I honestly have no idea if thats true or not (about cavities). That is also a valid point. In fact, it was mentioned on FoxNews this morning. It's funny, but when this flouride thing started, I remember people thinking it was a communist plot to slowly poison us all.
  17. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 01:25 PM) Well said. All excellent points. The Blackhwks, though, I think it's $Bill's fault. Mayybe oif he spent some money and showed the games on TV, more fans would come. Of course it's $Bill's fault. That's my point. Look at the Bulls. They've sucked for quite a few years now, but they still sell plenty of tickets. Why? Because there is a perception that they are trying to put something together. The Hawks have the perception of putting crap on the ice and expecting fans to fill the joint. The fans have other ideas on the matter.
  18. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 01:18 PM) It really is kind of sad that we have the safest tap water on earth, and yet we drink more bottled water than anyone else. Its just really wasteful on so many levels. Our tap water is teeming with chlorine. My doctor recommended to me that I drink bottled or filtered water for that reason.
  19. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 03:56 PM) Hmph, the current Mayor of L.A., and former city councilman, seems to have first heard about the "terror plot" during Bush's speech this morning. That's troublesome. Oh, it's been reported today that the Mayor was notified by the DHS, by phone, before the speech was given. Now, his problem is that he wasn't notified by the White House. So, when it comes down to it, he's full of it.
  20. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 09:11 AM) This is not realistic. Those doors are now pretty secure. With the metal locks and cross members, you'd either have to have a bomb with enough force to destroy the metal bolt, or one pwerful enough to destroy the entire rest of the door, leaving a large hole to pass through. Either way, that's a powerful explosion, and it would to a lot more than blow up the door. You'd probably do all kinds of electrical and structural damage to the cockpit and bulkhead, and quite possibly make the plane unflyable (or send it crashing to the ground). How's talking about 'now'? We are talking about '02. Just a few months after 9/11. The odds are that those doors weren't upgraded that quickly. So, maybe it was realistic at that point.
  21. I still think the first response shoulds be at the local and state level. They have resources in place to do the job. You know, like all those parked school buses.
  22. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 12:46 PM) Cub fans are idiots, I think that is by definition. But we should consider this Sox fans stay away when the product sucks True Sox fans support the team through thick and then Bandwagon jumpers only show up when the team is winning I am so confused I think Sox fans do both. They stay away when the product sucks, but not totally. Instead of going to 5-10 games, they may go to 2, for example. They stick by them, root for them and watch on the tube. But, if they don't think the front office is trying to win, they keep their cash to themselves. See the Blackhawks for another example of this mindset.
  23. QUOTE(kevin57 @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 11:31 AM) Sport talk radio is generally ripping the Sox--especially Guillen--for their response to the White House visit. I think generally they're all wet. 1. JR said to Mike North that there had been a few attempts, most recently right after Sox Fest, to set up a White House visit. The White House couldn't accommodate this. Fine. This was one of the few dates available to the WH. Now Guillen is with family on vacation. I back Ozzie on this one. 2. Similarly, there was criticism that a date should have been found when Pods wouldn't be on his honeymoon, Iguchi wouldn't have an event honoring him in Japan, etc. Have these critics ever tried to organize an event where twenty + people could attend. Good luck! 3. The only legitimate criticism, IMO, was that Kenny Williams had to "think about" whether to go because he objects to the war in Iraq. Politics should not be a reason to go or not to go. I don't even have a problem with KW if he decided not to go. If his convictions were that strong, then more power to him.
  24. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 12:26 PM) I'LL BAN YOU I SWEAR TO GOD!!!!! Case closed.
