QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 10:14 AM) This has pretty much been the consensus that I have heard since he did so well in the playoffs in that spot. I've heard Dye-Konerko-Thome pretty much ceaselessly since the acquisition of Thome... You've heard that around Soxtalk, I would guess. I haven't seen anything from the powers that be to indicate this is their thinking.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 09:32 AM) I would buy all of you season tickets. Damn generous of you!

QUOTE(samclemens @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 10:44 AM) ... what is your source to call lincoln a racist? stop smoking meth. and the president who was in office during the height of the cold war (and came within inches of f***ing it up during the cuban missile crisis; due to luck alone there was not mutually assurred destruction) who was shot before he could really do much of anything? i agree that JFK COULD have been a great president, but he didnt have the chance. what did JFK do that was so good for the US? oh and he also continued to escalate the vietnam war while giving that b.s. lip service about it being "their war to fight". Take it easy, there.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 10:37 AM) Yeah, but if you really wanted to come clean you might try dialing up a reporter who is actually alive. Details.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 10:29 AM) Right, we should tell everyone, "Do as I say, dont do as I do." Uniforms are a pathetic argument. I don't think the people that formulated the Geneva convention agreed with you. -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 08:54 AM) Where did they hide ANY information. Its s*** like that, that pisses me off about this board. NO ONE HID ANYTHING. There has been zero proof of that. Not dialing up Peter Jennings on your cell phone after you just pumped a round of birdshot into someones face, doesn't mean you are "hiding" something. -They contacted the proper authorities -The victim was taken to the hospital -The victims family was contacted. -The White House TOLD the family to contact the press about the situation. -The White House held a press confrence the next day about the situation. The whole basis for a cover is that a specific group of the press wasn't contacted. The rest of the conspiracy is just inflamatory bulls*** because the White House press corps got their feelings hurt because they weren't first. There is no doubt this is a legitimate story, for no other reason than for the people involved. If this was two guys hunting in Wisconson during Deer Season, it would be a local story MAYBE. Because it involves the VP, it IS front page news. What there is zero evidence of is some great right wing conspiracy to bury something. If they were REALLY trying to hide something, do you think they would have let the guy live? Do you really think they would have let the VP take the fall? If it was some grand conspiracy, why would they have left so many holes and witnesses out there? Why would they have contacted the authorities so quickly? Why would they have told the family to contact the media? Wouldn't they have wanted complete silence? I mean if you are going to hide something, why would it be something so little in political capital?

QUOTE(mreye @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 07:15 AM) It's either Hillary or someone else. They won't nominate any "has beens." You mean "never will be's"

QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 04:21 PM) Well Artest isn't like that. His teammates lime him and all, he just loses his temper and refuses to get treatment for it. I never mentioned Artest.

What about notification of the lawyers family? Shouldn't that be taken into consideration when determining when to go to the press with something like this?

It's the moderates of both parties that gets my ear when they speak. I know pushing the party line is not their motivation.

I can't believe you guys still can't see why Ozzie made the in games moves he did during the season. He kept his subs sharp and his regulars rested. He also showed in the post season that he can change when circumstances do. He kept running his regulars out there with a 'win today' mentality, which so many of you think he should have game in, game out throughout the course of a 162 game season. He shouldn't, and I for one am very happy he doesn't. Of course, I preached this all throughout the season last year, but I thought a WS championship would have convinced most of you doubters. I should have known better.

Dye performed well enough for a championship team that he deserves the benefit of any doubt to be the starting RF again in '06. One impressive thing about Dye's '05 season was how he overcame that horrific start without letting it get to him. He just kept working until his slump was history. That was leadership by example, and might have contributed to the Sox not having that total collapse that many thought they were having last August-September.

Good bye and good riddance.

I expect the Rangers to be better this year, but not good enough. That lineup they of theirs will still have to face those pitching staffs in Oakland and LA for 38 games. As the Sox proved last year, good pitching beats good hitting.

Supposedly, Anderson is a better all around athlete than Rowand. That doesn't mean that right now he is better centerfielder than Aaron. However, all reports indicate he has the tools to be superior defensively to ARow. I don't expect that superiority to establish itself this season as Brian has to still learn how to play the individual hitters and the nuances of the various ballparks. As far as hitting goes, all accounts suggest Anderson will be batting 8th, rather than 9th, with Crede hitting behind him to give him some protection. I like this idea. They are giving Anderson every chance at succeeding without putting a lot of pressure on him. The Sox are setting expectations relatively low for him this year. It's not like the Cubs making everybody think that Corey Patterson was second coming of Willie Mays. In a nutshell, I think Anderson will do at least what is expected of him by the Sox. Whether he lives up to fans expectations is a whole different matter.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 06:39 AM) Sammy Sosa needed to illegally enhance his physical tools TO needs to enhance his personality and attitude Other than that, they are both tools, you are correct. Shall we start an all-idiots team thread? Well, I was refering to their common attitude of "It's all about me."

QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 11:17 AM) Weve become so paranoid about Anderson it has now resorted to wanting to start Borchard?? This is the same Borchard that wants to go to the CFL and could easily break any Vizciano strike out record. I don't want to see Borchard in the starting line-up for one game, even after clinching. I'd rather have Chris Singleton suit up again. This Borchard situation will be finalized this spring. Either he shows something worthwhile, or he's gone.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 11:16 AM) Which is exactly why you need each party to have control of 1 house of Congress...so that they can check each other and so that they both have subpoena power. You shouldn't trust either of them to do anything that will sabotage their own power, so the only way to make sure there aren't abuses allowed entirely because of politics is to put them at each other's throats. In total agreement. I almost choked on those words.

Two year old breaking news. Gotta love it.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 11:12 AM) Except when it comes to, you know, actually caring about doing the right thing for their country regardless of the politics. Which is how most of Congress got in office anyway. It's always been that way, and always will be that way .. regardless of which party holds the majority.
