    Hooray!

    QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 12:14 PM) He's pretty liberal. Ya think? :rolly
  2. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 11:48 AM) I would make him admit to using steroids or take a lie detector test. Anything to humiliate him, like giving the ball to Ron Kittle. Maybe he can go hunting with Dick Cheney. I'd just respond to any offer Bonds made that he wasn't even close to Ron Kittle's bid.
  3. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 02:46 AM) http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemid=ANE074722 Thank you.
  4. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 07:27 AM) Anything can happen. I don't know if you remember 1984, but after the 1983 domination, the Sox acquired Tom Seaver, who turned out to be their best pitcher in 1984. With Hoyt, Dotson, Bannister, and Burns, it, on paper, was one of the most dominant 5 man rotations ever. For some reason or another, things didn't work out in 1984, probably they kept too much intact, and they finished below .500. All you can ask for at this time is a team with a legitimate chance to win. The Sox are clearly that. They made a lot of changes, I think for the better. I think many of the players can have better offensive years. The bullpen is my main concern. Yes, I've thrown 1984 as an example out there a couple times to those that think we are going to waltz to a repeat. 1984 was a nightmare, due to the facts the we flopped and the Cubs won their division. Thank goodness for Leon Durham.
  5. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 07:22 AM) don't discount the power of the hair. My 880 time was screwed when I worked for Six Flags and had to cut my hair. I was so use to the pattern of my hair hitting my shoulders, I instantly knew my pace. No hair, weird feeling, I was confused. Now I understand the basis for your liberalness.
  6. QUOTE(minors @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 11:58 AM) It looks like the judge gave them 2 options one which would require the doctors be there or overdose him on a seditive which seems to be the road they are on. I think they should just hang the SOB.
  7. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 11:53 AM) And still is today for that matter. The US would have zero population growth if it wasn't for immigration, and people are still coming here in numbers larger than we are willing to handle. I can't help but thinking if it were THAT bad, and the US was hated THAT much, that we wouldn't have millions upon millions of more people still trying to get into the country. But at the sametime, it doesn't make the "English only" crowd any less narrowminded than they were 150 years ago. I don't have a problem with diversity within our borders. I do, however, have a major problem with our educators presenting a jaded view of the US, which has been happening throughout our educational system for decades, and increasing exponentially as time goes by.
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 11:49 AM) It just makes me wonder if these samethings were happening in say largely Republican areas, if we would be hearing more outrage about this. Instead we have two Democratic mayors in largely democratic towns, and there is nothing. And, in another thread, you mentioned irony. How ironic is that?
  9. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 11:46 AM) And no doubt this is the over wealming story when compared to what Apu is going to spend his classtime teaching. To be honest I don't think he even needs to focus on the history of it, when in reality there are probably kids in his class today who think are basically committing the same acts of racism that their forefathers were a victim of. Irony, huh? Yes, ironic as hell. But, to have our educators teach only the negatives when it comes to treatment of immigrants in this country, and not talk about the fact that the symbolism of the Statue of Liberty has been, in fact, the reality for millions upon millions of immigrants and their decendants borders on treason to me.
  10. QUOTE(minors @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 11:42 AM) Looks like Cali will not use the 3 cocktails so the execution will happen at 7:30 tonight. I feel for the family having to go there then told to go home and come back tomorrow after 25 years of waiting. And if it doesn't happen tonight, it goes back to the original judge for issuance of another death warrant, which will probably not be issued because he has since changed his opinion on this particular case. So, the family will be told to go home and wait longer.
  11. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 11:42 AM) Not to hijack this thread too much, but we as American's have a long history of treating immigrants like s***, even today. It still pisses me off to see signs that proclaim their businesses to be American owned, as direct shots to the people who migrated here and own a direct competitor down the highway... Or listening to the high school dropout mumbling something like "They should know how to speak the language" when their grammar might be worse than the immigrants they are looking down upon. Its a pet peeve of mine when "new" Americans are deemed lesser than "old" Americans. On the other hand, there have been a lot of immigrants come over here and have been extremely successful. They left oppression and violence in their homeland because there was a better life for them here.
  12. Without looking at the sight, didn't the physician attempt to bleed Wahington with leeches to 'cure' him? I seem to recall something about that.

    QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 04:12 PM) Why? Bill Maher is NOT a Democrat nor a Republican. Nope. Just a Moron.
  14. We can't pursue our interests in the UN, while footing a majority of the bill. But we can pay interest to China while they pursue their interests in the UN. No, I have no problem with that.
  15. QUOTE(minors @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 11:30 AM) Well people who kill 17 year old girls by strangling he with his belt, then beat her in the head with a hammer 27 times, then rape her while she was unconscious then come back stab her 4 times. And as an extra insult he ripped her clothes off just so her privates would be exposed. If there is any other words that can describe him I would like to know. C'mon man ... you can't insult murderers by calling them 'thugs'. It's so totally politically incorrect.
  16. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 08:23 PM) We just have to give up our freedoms or the terrorists and criminals will win. Everyone will be ok with their every move in public video taped. Plus, think how great American's Funniest Hoe Videos will be with everything you do in public recorded. I can't believe so many are "okay" with constant public surveillance. This, to me, is much scarier than the warrantless monitoring of overseas phone calls.
  17. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 08:53 AM) I lived in Memphis for a few years. The city where the delta starts, as the saying goes. Yeah, there were some crazies around. But even there, I got no feeling that everyone rejected evolution. Some, yes. But not all, and not even most. Plenty of southerners have accepted evolution as science, even if their religious beliefs can be INTERPERETED otherwise. See, that's the difference. Evolution is science, and it's real. Most religious conservatives believe that. However, they don't accept it as the only explanation for the beginning of life on this planet. It is something that looked as a way for life to evolve and survive, but not as the answer to beginning of all life.
  18. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 01:24 PM) Lucky for me the school I'm student teaching at had off. w00t for 3 day weekends! /working on Project Discrimination for next week's class to really have the whole racism and discrimination thing hit home with students -- we're talking about Indian Removal with Jackson...so I'm having students talk to relatives about what happened to their families when they came over to the US -- and then looking at historical books about what happened to the Irish, Germans, Chinese, etc. etc. when they came to the United States. They'll get to write a little piece up on it and discuss it in class if they want. I've got a ton of photos to show and some audio as well. And I'm sure you're going to present a fair and balanced look at this to your classes.
  19. QUOTE(minors @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 11:15 AM) Yes, Just responding to the personal insult that was thrown at me. I didn't appreciate being called a blood thirsty self evangelist. You're on the wrong side of this issue. Some things are insults, others are "justified".
  20. I'm not concerned about Garland at all. I think he figured it out last year and will only get better.
  21. Does anyone know the shipping date from deepdiscountdvd? I ordered mine about a month ago.
  22. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 09:18 PM) I find it hard to believe that players are sitting around crying, wishing they won the WS last season. In general, I agree with all the stuff you've said about loyalty in baseball. There's not much on display through the Majors, by players or teams. I don't have any problem with Magglio leaving the Sox for more money. He's only in the game for so many years and understandably wants to capitalize as much as possible. However, it's more of the way Magglio left the Sox than his leaving that causes me to have total disregard for the guy. He went from being one of my favorites to just being another Tiger. His actions basically told me he didn't want to be a White Sox player any more. He got his wish. Now he's regetting it. Tough s***, Ordonez. Deal with it.
  23. Here's the ultimate dimemma. If you are Cub fan sitting in the Wrigley bleachers and catch Bonds record breaking homer, do you throw it back?
  24. QUOTE(Beltin'Bill @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 10:07 PM) LMAO! Sammy had some statistically monstrous seasons but I will never give him any credit for his supposed accomplishments. When he came to the Sox he was an incredibly gifted athlete who had every tool possible. He could hit a home run, steal a base, run down a ball in the corner and throw the ball on the fly to home plate. Some even dared to compare him to Clemente. Unfortunately, he also frequently missed the cutoff man and sometimes airmailed it to the fans behind home. He never listened to coaches and swung at everything. He created a handful of cliches that he repeated over and over again and the naive northside fan base ate it up. He is nothing more than an amature street hustler con artist. My lasting image of the true Sammy Sosa will always be a swing and a miss at a curve low and away in the dirt. I just hope that all 30 teams are smart enough to keep their distance and keep this bum retired for good. You've got him pegged perfectly. In addition to what you said, he had so much promise when he came over from Texas. But, he decided he wanted personal glory as opposed to being a great baseball player. He made the wrong choice, a few wrong choices, and now he's a pariah instead of being held in reverence as one of the all time greats. He's one of those "What could have been" type guys that was never smart enough to figure it out.
  25. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 07:11 PM) Foreign Relations are important. Good. You guys can pay it then.
