  1. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 06:27 PM) What style of baseball made the White Sox World Series Champions in 2005? Winning baseball!
  2. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 09:07 AM) Perhaps you need to re-read the quote you were referring to... CW stated that the person on the respirator has their whole life to loose... where as the embryo has not had a life yet. Then you come back with... " The person on the respirator in most cases doesn't have much of a life left to lose. The embryo is at the very beginning of life and therefore has much more to lose." The embryo has more to loose..? Like what...? Friends, family, kids, memories.... The embryo has it's entire life ahead of it, where as the other's is in most cases winding down. That was point.
  3. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 07:48 AM) What's realistic...? That most people on respirators have lived enough so it's ok to take them off..? Is there a stat on that? And have you lived enough? Are you OK with being taken off one because you "don't have much life left to lose"? Of course that's not what I was trying to say. Take it in the context of the quote I was responding to. If you take that into consideration, you should be able to understand why I responded the way I did.
  4. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 05:07 AM) I'm gonna guess that "most" folks on respirators are not done living their lives, nor are their loved ones ready to let them go. The comment seemed a bit insensitive. I apologize, but it is also a bit realistic.
  5. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 04:58 AM) Jim's mom, and the rest of the family, would disagree with you there. Exceptions to every rule. Which is why I threw the words "in most cases" into my sentence.
  6. It wouldn't shock me at all if Cheney were forced to resign for 'health' reasons.
  7. QUOTE(CrimsonWeltall @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 09:35 PM) Except the person on the respirator has their whole life to lose, while an embryo has nothing to lose as they have never lived (in any meaningful way). Now this makes no sense. The person on the respirator in most cases doesn't have much of a life left to lose. The embryo is at the very beginning of life and therefore has much more to lose.
  8. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 12:01 PM) I have a road gray similar to that. I have the word champions instead of world champs.
  9. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 12:05 AM) REPORTEDLY. Nothings on the record. It's irresponsible for the Inside Bay Area (whoever the f*** they are) to put such remarks as direct quotes without a source. How the hell do they receive inside information that apparently all other media outlets have missed? Anyways, this may have happened behind close doors. I support Williams here because it's nothing directed in a public venue. Whomever leaked this information, if it's legitimate, overcrossed their boundaries. We critizie Williams for going public with his views, but if he can't even say what he wants beyond journalists and within his own space, where the hell can he be himself? Exactly. Not only is there no direct quote of KW saying this, but that word 'reportedly' implies to me they are getting this info second hand. Worlhless and journalistically irresponsible, imho.
  10. Happy birthday from one old .... Nah, I won't go there. Happy Birthday!!!
  11. I got so overly burned out by Fleetwood Mac when "Rumours" came out that I couldn't or wouldn't listen to them for 25 years or so. Eventually, I was able to give them another listen and they are among my favorites now. Boston, Foreigner and REO Speedwagon come to mind as groups that were also played to the point of overkill. Also Journey.
  12. QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 02:26 AM) Sox AND Astros get snubbed on the MLB '06 commercial. You'd think that ESPN owned the MLB '06 game. All Yanks, Red Sox and Cardinals. Yes, I know that it's only a video game but still, sometimes it's hard not to notice stuff like this. I saw it and had the same thoughts.
  13. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 09:05 AM) You're a bit past the target age I'm referring to Yas.. Sadly, I hear that part all too often.
  14. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 08:55 AM) Stuff like that, we (at least I) can take. And it's to silly to believe. Like you guys would do your own laundry, cook your own meals, or do your own dishes.. I do that stuff all the time. If I didn't do it, it would never get done.
  15. I thought David Wells as well. Hope things turn out for the best for Kip.
  16. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 01:27 PM) It's true, I have a purpose. You and Steve Martin. Except he had a 'special purpose'.
  17. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 11:21 PM) Bought f***ing time. Prostitute?
  18. A few noteworthy points about this issue. 1. The Sox do have a history of bad mouthing or disrespecting players as they head out of town. In fact, a couple of years ago, I wrote an article that was posted on Bob Dylan's site about this very subject. Fisk, Ventura and Lance Johnson were a few of the examples I gave at the time. The said, I feel today that tradition has basically been put in the past. Magglio kept shooting off his mouth and Ozzie responded. Frank shoots off his mouth, repeatedly, and KW responds. That's totally different than what happened in years past. Olivo got traded and cried. Big deal. If he was pissed or hurt, it doesn't matter because he put himself in this business having full knowledge that players get traded. Aaron Rowand wasn't happy he was traded, but he expressed himself in a totally different way. There are no hard feelings from Rowand, yet he wasn't happy about it. 2. Frank Thomas has his own history. That history includes being a b****y, whiny pompous ass. If Williams would have had the final word, Thomas would have been gone a few years ago. Remember? 3. This point, I haven't seen any comments on. When Frank Thomas said he would have been back with the Sox for $1 million the first word to cross my mind was "Bulls***!". Frank has always whined about his perception of lack of respect. There is no way in hell he would have signed with Sox for that. He signed with A's because he was out of choices. It's real damn easy to say I would have done this or that, after the fact. As far as I'm concerned, Frank's just talking out his ass here. Frank couldn't let it go. He couldn't move on. It got to the point that someone had to stand up for the organization. I'm glad Kenny slammed Frank and his petulant rantings. It was overdue.
  19. QUOTE(bmags @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 05:35 PM) i want the next season to start but i didn't want this feeling of 05 champs to end. I know it won't but...god that was magnificent, winning the title. With the DVD's and Soxtalk, I think we'll be able to revisit the '05 season whenever we get the urge.
  20. QUOTE(kevin57 @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 09:35 AM) I was pleased to hear Crede say that unlike some other players, he would be telling Boras what Crede will accept and not allow Boras to run the show. Also, at the end of the article, he says staying in Chicago is a top priority for him. We'll see. I would guess that Mr. Bora$$ is a fairly persuasive fellow.
  21. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 09:57 AM) When I have blindy stated that Iraq is not winnable? There has been very little news out there that shows that this campaign will be successful. Facts are facts. In 1780, it didn't look like a free and democratic society would succeed here either. But last time I checked, it did.
  22. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 08:16 AM) It is his duty, awarded to him, in compliance with the laws of the state to consider the DP... not an automatic to sentence him to it. Compliant with the laws of the state of California, he believed this man deserved the DP. Now, however, his religious outlook has changed and that should not be the deciding factor. Religion is not supposed to be part of the equation as per the US Constitution. This, my friends, is really what separation of church and state means. EDIT: This is a prime example of where separation of church and state is truly applicable.
  23. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 09:24 AM) Gotta love blind optimism. As opposed to pure pessimism.
