QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 04:39 PM) I'm just saying that's my personal preference towards Uribe. Tejada's skills are nice, but I just simply like Juan Uribe whether he's struggling or ripping the ball everywhere. It's obviously not a logical reason, and from a baseball standpoint I'm probably an idiot for having this preference, but alas, I have it anyway. I'm not all that far away from your point of view here. I question just how much of an upgrade Tejada would be over Uribe in 2006. Then I think the gap between then will continue to shrink over the course of the next 3 or 4 seasons. Tejada is an upgrade, no doubt in my mind. But is the upgrade worth costing us Contreras and the prospects? I have my reservations about that.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. JimH has his s*** together. Let's break down what a baseball style rumor actually consists of. It consists of bits and pieces of information that are put together, sometimes with a little logic thrown in that can lead to a speculated conclusion. There were rumors that the Sox and O's were talking about a Tejada deal. That rumor turned out to be true. KW said he called and inquired about Tejada. Does that mean a trade happened, or was imminent? No. But, what happens when the rumor first comes out, people will start looking for a possible matchup that makes sense for both teams. That is called speculation. Somebody publishes that speculation and all of a sudden you have a full blown hot trade rumor going on. This exact scenario happens in Soxtalk constantly and I don't consider the posters here to be full of BS. This guy at mlbtraderumors does the same type of thing. He's takes all his bits and pieces of info, speculates and offers possibilities. He just puts all his stuff on one easy to access website which provides a service to any baseball fan that wants to utilize it. I, like JimH, thinking bashing this guy is ridiculous.

The Score pitches Ozzie Jr. as baseball talk host
YASNY replied to HuskyCaucasian's topic in The Filibuster
Waiting for Texsox to chime in on this one. Should be good. Anthrax, this is a market driven decision. It's all about $$$$. There is a large enough market to support a Spanish language baseball oriented show. If there was enough of a Polish speaking market that had an interest in baseball, then there would be a show for that. And, BTW, Warsaw is the only city in the world with a larger population of Polish people than Chicago. I highly doubt that most of those in chicago speak the Polish language. I may be wrong about this, but I'd guess there are other cities in Poland that have more Polish speaking residents than Chicago does. -

Jenks has topped out at, what, 102 mph? So this guy from Japan throws at 107 mph? Steinbrenner would kidnap him and bring to NY. Where the hell is Sid Finch when we need him?

QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 12:17 PM) Damon is an upgrade and that lineup is potent on paper, but who knows what that will translate into on the field. I don't think he is going to put up numbers like he has in the past. His stolen bases have slowly declined for the last 5 or so years down from 46 in 2000 to 18 in 2005. That is normally not a good sign over that length of time. Who knows what Giambi will show up? Roids or Sosa 2005. Sheffield just turned 37, so will he play OF or DH. How productive can he be in the OF for a full season at 37? Their Pitching staff has the names, but Johnson is 42, Mussina 37, and the others (Pavano, Wang, Chacon, and Wright) would all be 5th or 6th starters on the Sox. So yes the Yanks will be there, but I worry more about the A's and Indians because they don't have all the big names, but they have some under-rated talent. Johnson is an old man and Mussina is getting there. Pavano, Wright and Chacon can prove to be very solid, followed by Wang and Small .. that's potentially a pretty good rotation. Add to that the fact that Johnson and/or Mussina are still wily veterans that could possibly put in a good year, and the Yanks starting staff could be very good. Their bullpen can also prove to be extremely solid and the lineup is killer. The Yankees are the team to beat from a White sox perspective. When NY signed Damon and KW said the road would travel thru NY, he again showed his basegball knowledge.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 11:49 AM) Any time there is any sort of disaster in any area, the taxpayers are going to foot some portion of the bill simply for the rescue, police presence, and other associated government tasks (rebuilding roads, etc.). Even if people pay the higher insurance rates, the taxpayers are still on the hook for a significant portion. And that's as it should be. However, the American taxpayer should not be the nation's insurance company.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 11:15 AM) I, for one, am not brushing off echelon or any other illegalities. It was wrong then, and it's wrong now. I could care less what party the President is, if they break the law (which I believe to be happening here), they need to be held accountable. So, why wasn't it a big deal then? Why didn't the media jump on on that with both feet like they are now? Where was liberal voice when Clinton was trashing the Constitution?

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 11:01 AM) And it's SICK that people do this. This has been my point on here for months. Did you pass gas today? Well, that's Bush's fault. (bean subsidies) Did you get a paper cut? Damn, Bush. (stupid paper regulations are too thin) Dookie get clogged in the toilet? Bush. (damn toilet executive orders) It amazes me how everything bad is this man's fault, yet anything good at all, someone else did it... it HAS to be. You listen to some of our liberal minded Soxtalk brothers, and it's f***ing disgusting.
-
I still don't understand why everyone is so up in arms arms about Bush doing this and they just brush off or ignore the fact the Clinton did it too.

And we thought the hurricane left a big mess in New Orleans. I have a feeling this is going to get nasty.
