  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 09:29 AM) Not to be rude, but I've never started a Mariotti thread in the past. To be honest, I got sick of hearing the same complaints every day by my fellow Sox fans about Berman, Buck, and company (just as I'm sure my fellow Sox fans got sick of me complaining about Ozzie during the year, etc.). However, today is a very quiet day outside of the tickets, so I was just wondering if anyone else thought the article was pure crap. Yes, it was. As is most of his inane drivel. Here we are getting ready to begin the 1st World Series in Chicago since 1959, and this tool has not written a Sox related article in since the playoofs began that hasn't mentioned 1919 and/or the Ligues. This past couple of weeks has proven to me that beyond a shadow of doubt mariotti has a personal dislike for the Sox and everything associated with them. His "compliments" always, and I mean always, include a backhanded slap at something or someone to do with team.
  2. I don't mind the bandwagoners. Simply put, they are potential die-hards. While it may seem like these people are enjoying this as much as we are, they are not. They can't be. The Sox can break my heart. They have many times. Therefore, they happiness, joy, hell the exstacy that feel right now cannot be matched by those that haven't suffered through the years. I'm hoping some of these bandwagoners stick around and become good, loyal Sox fans. As far as I'm concerned, welcome to the party folks. Tip a beer to the Sox and I hope to see you around for many years to come.
  3. QUOTE(Beetle @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 01:21 PM) While I don't believe in making excuses for your job performance, no matter the circumstances Well, let me tell you. I lost my son in a car wreck back in '97. I went back to work too soon. Totally snapped on a customer and jumped right down his throat on my first day back. They called the CEO of the company about it. Fortunately, I went to my boss right after it happened and told him what happened. s*** happens to people in times like that. Circumstances be damned.
  4. QUOTE(whitesoxfan13 @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 10:53 PM) So you guys think Kenny can swing a big deal for Pujols come this offseason..? No. We need a left handed bat.
  5. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 10:46 PM) David Eckstein deserves alot of credit there, boy. Damn right he does.
  6. Down to their last strike, St. Louis rallies to tie on a 3 run bomb by Pujols. Wow!
  7. QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 10:29 PM) Kap and I are working every angle. I was close to tickets until the guy asked me who I was rooting for. BTW, they just played the sound sof Brandon Backe he was going nuts. You should have lied.
  8. QUOTE(Brian @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 10:24 PM) Not sure if this has been talked about, but does anyone have a DVD or good VHS copy of last nights game? I think I'm gonna go buy a bunch of tapes this week and tape every game of the World Series. I have the whole series on DVR, but I don't know how to transfer it to another format.
  9. QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) Your Fooling Yourself if you think that Renegade isn't thinking these are the Best of Times. If I was you, I'd be concerned that I had "Too Much Time On My Hands".
  10. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 06:45 PM) I don't think it does. Think again.
  11. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 06:32 PM) Congrats Sox, and Sox fans. You're all class Jim. Thank you.
  12. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 12:18 PM) I was just thinking last night about how the Angels really overshadow the Dodgers in the LA area these days because of the Angels recent success and the Dodgers piss-poor general managing and underacheving on the field. Do you get the sense that the White Sox could enjoy a similar type of swing in terms of popularity? It seems as though the Angels were relatively the lesser team in the LA area for years and years, and all of a sudden they are the more popular franchise for the past few seasons with more of a rabid fanbase. Could Chicago experience a similar effect? The Sox have to take advantage of this situation while opportunity knocks. They've got to resign Konerko and add another marquis player in the off season.
  13. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 12:18 PM) Inning 1...Contreras...Inning 2 Buehrle, Inning 3 Garland, inning 4 BMac, inning 5 Santana, Inning 6 Politte, Inning 7 Cotts, Inning 8 Jenks, Inning 9 Rivera. Who's Santana?
  14. Willie said he took some Tylenol before hand and he has time to recuperate if he has a reaction. So here's to Willie being able to enjoy the celebration!
  15. QUOTE(thatballhitdeep @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 11:58 AM) i was searching Grandstands website and I can't find any of the ALCS gear there. I guess they have not updated their site yet. I really want that hoodie though. Hopefully they update it soon. mlb.com has it for $50.
  16. QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 11:39 AM) Unless Ozzie has to make a pitching change and needs a pitch batter. Carl would probably be the first bat out of the dugout. As a "pitch batter", sure. He might even consider using him as a pinch hitter too.
  17. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 11:49 AM) SOMEBODY GRAB YASNY SOME FREAKIN WS TICKETS! Ah! Thanks for the thought. Much appreciated.
  18. QUOTE(Beetle @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 11:49 AM) Hi! Baseball fan from the Sunshine State here to congratulate all White Sox fans on their Pennant win. This is my first post here, though I've visited the site on occassion. Even though I am a Marlins fan first and foremost (and regular poster on MarlinsBaseball.com -- where I got the link that brought me here), I've much love and respect for the White Sox for different reasons -- one of them being that I've been a huge fan of Frank Thomas since the early 1990's and have rooted for the guy through the years. Even though it's sad that he got hurt and couldn't play, the fact that he was there in body and spirit backing his teammates makes me happy for him nonetheless. I know he wishes he could play, but he's enjoying it regardless, and I'm thrilled for him. And, as you probably know, Marlins fans in general are very fond of Ozzie from his coaching days with us. We miss him dearly, but we're also very happy to see him succeed. I'm also very grateful for the all the support Sox fans have given the Marlins the last two seasons, especially in that "hurricane series" at the Cell in 2004. For those of you who showed up for that series: thanks -- you guys rock. Good luck in the World Series -- and, again, congratulations! Thanks for the good wishes and welcome to Soxtalk.
  19. I cannot see a set of circumstances that will allow me to attend on Series games. I will, however, be attempting to get tickets so I can help others get to the games. All I want to do is break even. If I score, I'll let you all know.
  20. QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 11:36 AM) We are arriving with everyone healthy and rested. The Astros aren't going to lay down, they can be beat, and they can beat. There will be some great matchups. I'm hoping they play a couple more before deciding a winner. Good analysis. Short, but to the point. If we play Houston, we are again playing a similar team to the Sox. They play the game right. The Cards are different in the respect they don't have the great pitching that Houston has. But still, very solid pitching. But you have to account for Pujols. Either team will put up a tough challenge. But, when it comes right down to it, I believe the Sox have a better "team" than either of the NL teams. Emphasis on the word team. I don't think it will be easy, but I like our chances.
  21. Carl sits in the NL park. No brainer.
  22. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 11:24 AM) YASNY you've kept up the faith all year!!!!!!!! LOL ... Try 40+ years!
