  1. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 05:47 AM) This is an interesting point. Is there anyway they'd be able to prove that before the hearing he was on roids? Cause if they can't prove that he was on roids before the hearing then it wouldn't be perjury, correct? There is one player who could testify under oath that he personally injected Palmeiro with steroids, if his book is to be believed.

    QUOTE(CubsSuck1 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 03:58 AM) Alcohol was once against the law, as well. And cocaine was once legal.
  3. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 03:20 PM) That is such a great friggin' album!!! Paid big bucks for that dang thing on import CD. That was probably my favorite Cooper album since Welcome to My Nightmare.
  4. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 05:42 PM) Am I the only one who has gotten sick of watching sportscenter lately because they play that "open road" song every commercial basically. You've only got about 32 more days to endure it. It'll pass before you know it.

    QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 03:21 AM) Aren't steroids against the law anyways? Now that you mention it, yes they are! That kind of makes all the rest of thread a moot point.
  6. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 03:11 AM) He without a doubt deserves to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Bonds, Sosa, McGwire will all be inducted and all are just as guilty as Palmiero, if not more. Should these four guys, quite possibly four of the best players in this generation, not be inducted into the Hall of Fame? None should be inducted.
  7. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 03:03 AM) Why is that? He's taking a strong, known steroid that can't be found in any over the counter supplements. He knew exactly what he was doing and 10 games is a joke.
  8. Palmeiro isn't being compared with "99% of the people in this world" when it comes to HOF worthiness. He is being compared to ex and current ML ballplayers, most of which never thought about taking steroids. f*** him. He gawn!
  9. This is a prime example of why a 10 game suspension is not sufficient.
  10. QUOTE(Jake @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 12:26 PM) Been pitching in the Majors for several outings, seems every bit of what he is supposed to be. Signs of maturity are also encouraging. Don't be surprised if Bobby stays in the majors. Then you'll be out of a job.
  11. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 03:08 PM) that was Kerry "simulated Cy Young" Wood No. Actually, they did refer to Van Poppel as the next Nolan Ryan, before he was ever drafted.
  12. QUOTE(soxfan3530 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 01:39 AM) this is so dumb. its the playoffs. obviously were going to have to play somebody good. we're just going to have to play great to get to the world series no matter who we play. that's just how it goes. Exactly. It's way too early to be worrying about that s*** anyway. There's a lot of good baseball left between now and October.
  13. Time to start another winning streak.
  14. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) Not really scared of him, but how he's going to reflect upon his own country. Like I mentioned earlier he has said in the past that the United Nations only works when the United States wants it to and when it is in the United States interest. My kind of guy!
  15. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 02:16 PM) No he's not. What the heck are you talking about, Yas, Orlando is worth every penny of that four year, $32 million dollar contract? Oh yeah ... I forgot.
  16. QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 02:17 PM) Even though I made this thread, sadly I am not aware of teh details of the trade. What did we give up for Blum? Ryan Meaux (sp?)
  17. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 02:10 PM) Polanco I guess it's a good move. He is a good player. He's much better than Orlando Cabrera.
  18. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 02:01 PM) Could be, but Bolton has said the United Nations could only be effective with American leadership and when it is in America's interest. The ideals behind the UNITED nations has great meaning to me and just because the United Nations has fallen on hard times doesn't make Bolton's appointment logical or deserved. Maybe the United States government considers the United Nations useless but other countries don't and this appointment is another step is turning world opinion against the United States. Here's to Bolton having changed some of his opinions since that rant of his was recorded. I hope Bolton goes in there and raises all kind of hell. The UN ain't worth the powder to blow it to hell. Somebody needs to slap that s*** out of those son of a b****es and get their damn attention.
  19. QUOTE(GBlum## @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 02:04 PM) LOL Oh my God! That's hilarious!
  20. MIAMI (AP) - Shaquille O'Neal and the Miami Heat agreed Tuesday on a $100 million, five-year contract, one that presumably will keep the 12-time All-Star center playing past his 38th birthday. The deal will be signed later Tuesday, said O'Neal's agent Perry Rogers. "We wanted to make sure that Shaquille was being compensated well into his career," Rogers told The Associated Press. "We also wanted to make sure he was paid his value. And it was important the Heat had flexibility they need in the short-term to win a championship. "It's about winning." O'Neal was vacationing Tuesday and not immediately available for comment. Earlier Tuesday, O'Neal opted out of the final year of his existing deal, one that would have paid him $30.6 million this coming season. The 7-foot-1, 327-pound O'Neal made an immediate impact during his first season with Miami, which acquired him in July 2004 from the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for three players and a draft choice. He averaged 22.9 points and 10.4 rebounds in the regular season, leading the league with a 60.1 field goal percentage. O'Neal ranked sixth in the league in blocks (2.34 per game), double-doubles (43) and rebounds. A bruised thigh, suffered late in the regular season, limited his playoff effectiveness; the Heat were the No. 1-seeded team in the East, yet lost to Detroit in Game 7 of the conference finals - the finest postseason showing in the Heat franchise's 17-year history. O'Neal had previously led the Lakers to three consecutive NBA titles from 2000-2002.
  21. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 01:49 PM) I'm not sure where you are coming from here Yas. Are you just really against the current United Nations, or Kofi? The United Nations is a f***ing joke, and corrupt to the core. Your nation is welcome to the bastards as far as I am concerned. Just pay their bills that we do when you take them.
  22. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 01:50 PM) Ha, funny that you used that term in a discussion about banned substances. Either you stumbled upon a nice little joke, or you're pretty clever. Take the credit, Milkman. I just used his nickname.
  23. QUOTE(Wong & Owens @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 01:48 PM) Todd Van Poppel was..... "The next Nolan Ryan."
  24. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 01:47 PM) Phew, glad that you realized it was a joke and that I wasn't actually mad. People usually take offense to everything like that. Likewise.
  25. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 01:46 PM) We'd be honored. That figures. :headshake
