QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 12:51 PM) No pics, but there are text links that are definitely NSFW. Correct. Sorry folks. I should have stated that.

McCain / Obama Worked Together Behind the Scenes

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 12:00 PM) Hopefully this a sign that an Obama adminsitration will be more bipartisian that his 97% of the time voting with Democrats would indicate. Oh hell, that would piss off the liberals. -
QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 11:50 AM) Why? You would rather go with an underachiever (Nix) and/or unproven player (Getz)? Hasn't KW had a history of buying low on players like this? Plus, wasn't Uribe making $5MM last year as a utility player? I'm not sure I follow your resistance... Yes, I'd rather go with an unproven player like Getz. How else can the Sox minor leaguers get the chance to prove themselves if they never get a shot?

So, just how much did the Dow drop while Obama was introducing his new economic team? 130-140 points? That was interesting, to say the least.

QUOTE (juddling @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 09:23 AM) Well then, if both guys were setting up a list of the same choices for the same jobs to choose from then did Obama lie when he said that McCain would be the same as Bush for the next 4 years or did he lie when he said he would be different over the next term????? It doesn't matter whether he lied or not at this point. He's been elected and he will be our next president. -
So, I'm reading these responses and I'm thinking "What if I wanted to start a website targeting heterosexual singles, like Jewish singles or catholic singles, etc ... Then on a lark I went to www.heterosexual.com. Hit the link, I think you'll find it interesting.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 07:55 AM) I knew someone would somehow find a way to make this a bad thing. Are we all that jaded? Once in a while, here and there, are examples of politicians doing something positive. This to me is clearly one of those situations. They were helping themselves, and the transition of whomever would become President. I cannot see how that is possibly a bad thing. Pull your head out of the sand. Yes, I'm that jaded. I also know I happen to be right. Consider the fact that most presidents in US history have had royal blood coursing through their veins, that just says that nothing has really changed over the centuries. Serfdom is alive and well. -
QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 12:55 AM) Most people don't and won't, but by not allowing people who aren't part of the target (wrong color, religion, etc.) it is a violation of the law. There is a site that's strictly for people making $100K a year or something along those lines. There's another site that you have to be consider "hot" to get on. There are Jewish singles and Catholic singles sites. I really don't think it's against the law. There are viable options for everyone on the internet.

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 12:08 AM) It's funny, the government doesn't seem to bat an eye at propping up massive banks that made really bad choices these days. But automakers ask for less money than Citibank just got this weekend to keep over 300,000 blue collar workers in jobs, and its a hand-out too far. I know the argument is that if GM/Ford/Chrysler can't survive on its own, any bail-out is going to forestall an inevitable death. If that's true, wouldn't it also make sense to spend some money now to spread the shock and pain around over time so that we don't suffer a 4% drop in GDP immediately with relatively little to absorb it? I'm more in favor of this bailout than any that have occured to this point.

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 12:04 AM) But the difference is, if youre a white guy, you can still register on the African American dating site. If you're a gay guy, you couldn't register on eHarmony. But why would would you want to register on a site that's not targeted to your preferences?

Another prime example that you really don't have a choice. They are all peas from the same pod. -
QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Nov 23, 2008 -> 08:01 PM) He also killed a dog with his own hand by slamming him on the ground multiple times for under performing... sick. I mean with his own hands he made a dog suffer and die. I think when he gets out he will have done his time and paid for his sins. I know pet lovers who said he should've got life which I completely disagree with. I mean 3 years of his life are wasted and he is basically broke when he gets out. I think that's enough justice. He has a slim chance with a career in sports when he gets out, though I do think he will make some money whether its a incentive based contract in the NFL or Arena football or something, but he'll never be anywhere near as wealthy as he once was. Vick's wealth, or lack thereof, should not even be part of the discussion. He had the world by the short and curlies and screwed it up himself.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Nov 23, 2008 -> 09:53 AM) I've been sick for the past several weeks. I got sick with a cold on halloween day, then that finally went away about 10 days ago, and then a couple days after I got better, I got the flu... so I haven't had the most fun the past month or so. Well, that explains a lot. jk

I read Jack London's "White Fang" many years ago. Dog fighting is extremely cruel. I say throw them under the jail.

Every MLB owner considering signing a pitcher long-term should read

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 22, 2008 -> 10:07 PM) I can see Sabathia...but there's not a law in the world that could/should force a team to give AJ Burnett/Lowe/Sheets 4-5 seasons and $15 million plus per season. As we're seeing in the political/government arena, there has to be some form of regulation that controls a completely unfettered free market, lol. MLB will soon be asking for a bailout. ) -
QUOTE (soulfly @ Nov 23, 2008 -> 09:57 AM) I have a feeling they are a little farther along in the restaurant / bar phase then they are leading on. It was almost two years ago that a teacher of mine was doing some renderings of a design for the new restaurant they were planning on adding. He didn't say a whole lot about it, other than he was excited to be working on the project, and that it was just getting underway. I'd imagine if they were planning this out two years ago with early interior renderings, then plans would almost certainly have to be done by now. I doubt it will be done by opening day, but I think that's the Sox dropping the ball here on the bids, not because it's not planned out yet. The plans are almost certainly done. Next sentence, it's not planned out yet. ?????

QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Nov 22, 2008 -> 09:17 PM) Woot FSU. Congrats Myron Rolle and I'm officially a huge Maryland fan next week. Did he get that Rhodes scholarship? -
QUOTE (Kid Gleason @ Nov 22, 2008 -> 03:58 PM) I want to see an interview with that Jesse guy. I think the one thing that leads to a little credibility on his part is that he doesn't have the sideburns and crap. I would instantly call "loon" if he looked like a 65 year old guy trying to look like Elvis. I'm sure it isn't him, but I give the guy credit for that. Yeah, I don't think it's him either. But, I thought this would be amusing.

I think Cuba is a diamond in the rough, only being held back by their own government. If Cuba was a free society, it would be a wealthy nation purely from tourism. It has so much potential. I find it inconceivable that the US has allowed a communist nation to exist for half a century just 50 miles from it's shore. We should lift the ban on trade because we could kill the Castro regime with kindness.
