  1. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Mar 20, 2005 -> 11:15 AM) I really think that Walker would be the wiser choice. I like Cotts, but I think he'd be better served starting every 5 days in AAA. It's one thing if Cotts played a significant role in our bullpen, but it's not like we used him a whole lot last year. And IMHO, I don't think he's got the makeup for the bullpen. It'll be best for both parties if he gets back into starting mode. I don't like to put too much stock into spring performances, but Walker appears to throw strikes with all of his pitches. I really don't know much about him, but from what I've seen, I don't see how he could be a downgrade from Cotts. You aren't giving Cotts enough credit for what he did last year. He was very good at preventing inherited runners from scoring, and those he left on base were allowed to score by Mike Jackson. Cotts did a credible job in the pen last year. To he doesn't have the make up for the pen is inaccurate, as he proved that he can be an effective relief pitcher.
  2. QUOTE(That funky motion @ Mar 19, 2005 -> 07:47 PM) I still think the union thing is killing him. My buddy just started going back to games last year. He and evert other union guy I know wont go to the games, but say is Frank leaves or gets traded they will go back. I'm as pro-union as just about anybody, but that is ridiculous.

Do not be ashamed that you are "feeling." That's what let's you know that you are alive and have a heart. Don't ever give that up.
  4. QUOTE(T R U @ Mar 19, 2005 -> 12:30 PM) My moms friend picked Vermont over Syracuse because she didnt like the name Syracuse.. she knows nothing about basketball but picked that upset because of a name haha Smart, smart lady.
  5. QUOTE(T R U @ Mar 19, 2005 -> 12:28 PM) So I guess you think Garland is out there trying to be like real game situation? Im pretty sure he was just working on the same things and again we won, so I dont see what it matters.. I dont care if he lets the bases get loaded and get out of it.. key phrase is he got out of it.. spring training doesnt matter, Garland is the man Garland has a way to go before he can be considered "The Man".
  6. QUOTE(farmteam @ Mar 19, 2005 -> 09:15 AM) Dag nabbit, I had Kansas in the Championship (losing to Illinois). Oh well. Every other Final Four and Elite Eight team I have is still alive, so there's hope. You're screwed.
  7. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Mar 19, 2005 -> 11:25 AM) Fish, fish, & more fish. It helps that I love seafood. Shrimp is the best food God ever gave us. I love it to death. But I enjoy crab, squid, perch, catfish, sushi, cod, salmon, & tuna. There are so many different varieties to choose from today that I don't really consider it a sacrifice. Instead I try to cut down on ice cream Unfortunately, I'm allergic to shrimp. I love the taste, but it makes me violently ill.

As a father who has lost a child ... well, I lost my son due to an accident. If someone would have taken him from me, I'm afriad I would have had to kill the son of a b****. It would have f***ed up my life and the life of the rest of my family, but I know what I felt.
  9. QUOTE(The Critic @ Mar 19, 2005 -> 07:44 AM) It is if the answer damns you forever. What goes around, comes around.
  10. QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Mar 19, 2005 -> 09:34 AM) Very VERY TRUE. Piazza poor defensively, poor speed, and has an awful arm he is no doubt a DH... Piazza has never been a good catcher, just a good hitter. Now that he's getting old, his catching skills are almost nonexistant.
  11. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Mar 19, 2005 -> 09:37 AM) Everyone was saying McGwire was going into this thing with the most to lose. He certainly came out of it with the most lost. That's because he has no balls.
  12. I'm taking the opportunity to point out something a little bit different on the tube this weekend. If you get burned out on all the hoops, you may want to check this out: USA Today review
  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 05:49 PM) I'd want Texsox to have a poll on Soxtalk to decide my fate. He Gawn!
  14. QUOTE(Butter Parque @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 08:47 PM) why don't you reply to the quote. What quote? About Redick? Because, I haven't watched him play very much. So I won't put out an uninformed opinion. But your response was lame. That's what I was referring to. I couldn't care less whether Redick is good or not.
  15. I had SU in the final on the Soxtalk pool. But, that game has put me in lead at work with only 3 sweet 16 teams down and all elite eight still alive. Looking good.
  16. See, McGwire, that's not a difficult question to answer.
  17. As for these pitchers looking bad ... I was one the threw that "excuse" out there earlier in ST. However, St. Patty's is behind us and it's time for these guys to get hitters out. That excuse don't cut it in my mind from here forward.
  18. When I signed off today, the Cubs were leading 4-2 or so. When I went to the Trib website and could not find the score of the game, I knew the Sox had prevailed!
  19. I hate to leave good company, but I've got yo get outta here till tonight. Steff, I am so happy you feel the way you do about Jim. That's worth more than gold. I guess I've been jaded. However, I don't believe it's a permanent condition.
  20. QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 02:48 PM) Alright Yas....... I don't agree. Period. I can accept that.
  21. QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 02:44 PM) Maybe because Scott was/is a murderer from the get go. Michael has been there for Terri since day one of this. He's gotten experimental treatment for her.. gone broke for her.. put off moving on with his life for her.. (he could have divorced her and tossed her and her care to her parents.. but didn't). I can't compare the two.. I have no idea if Scott given the opportunity would have done the same.. but I know Michael would not have done what Scott did since he didn't. It's the concept, Steff. I know I'd trust my parents more than any human beings on the face of the earth. Period.
  22. QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 02:39 PM) Michael is not Scott.. not in any way, shape, or form. I'm not saying he is. I can't see why this concept is so difficult to understand. I used a "worse case scenario" to empahsize a point.
  23. QUOTE(Butter Parque @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 02:35 PM) I'm guessing you've never seen JJ Redick play either. OK, now let me give you an opinion, "I believe that all the Illinois players are gay with each other". That's my opinion. Let me go out on a limb here and say that you probably don't agree with my opinoin and think that my opinion is pretty idiotic right? How arrogant and condesending! Oh c'mon. Is that the best you can do? :headshake
