  1. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 02:36 PM) If someone feels like that about their spouse, they should not be married to them, IMHO. If you can't trust someone with the most important decesion of your life, what can you trust them with? Hey, I trusted her. Found out that it was mistake. Live and learn
  2. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 01:59 PM) Wow, you have got real problems if the person you are married to, you can't trust to decide whether to keep you on life support or not. In my case, experience is a good teacher.
  3. QUOTE(HSC's Biggest Fan @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 01:59 PM) The guy has played in 57 games and is 33 years old, do you risk him being the starter. I don't think he is all that good defensivly on top of it. Throw potential out the window. I want a guy that has almost 500 games experience and is 28 over a guy that has been in 57 games and is 33. Total agreement here. I don't care what his career batting average is.
  4. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 01:56 PM) Im not saying a word What's your name in the pool?
  5. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 01:49 PM) Oklahoma St 63 SELA 50 final score. I'm 4 for 4 today. Of course, that probably jinxed my ass big time.
  6. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 01:38 PM) I look at Canseco a little differently than maybe some of you. It doesn't matter to me what he thought in 2002. His book brought the matter to the mainstream media's attention & that brought it to Congress' attention. Before his book the anti-doping institute could barely get someone to answer a phone call on this comm. For that alone Canseco deserves some honorable recognition. Going forward it's all about who has the most to lose. Since he's presently on probation in the state of FL that's definitely Canseco. He probably needs to do more good works in this issue than any one else. Next would have to be Mac. He's still a HOF candidate & he needs to do as much as he can to bolster that. Thirdy is Sosa. His HR totals when he hangs it up should make him a candidate as well. Palmy really doesn't have much to lose either way so I think he seems genuinely concerned about the issue now. I'll give Canseco his "honorable mention". I'll even give him the money he made on the book. Now, just go away Jose. Big Mac's HOF candicacy just took a big hit. I believe Sosa will eventual take a major hit. He's not smart enough to dodge this until he's elected to the HOF. As I said earlier, Raffy Palmeiro I'd have to give the benefit of the doubt .... today.
  7. 63-60 Florida with 38.1 seconds to go. Ohio with the ball.
  8. QUOTE(winodj @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 01:28 PM) But our judicial system has facilities and methods in place to determine whether or not the husband is a Scott Peterson or a Michael Schiavo. In this situation, I believe marriage trumps parentage. I don't think the line is broad and clear and applies to each situation. It may not be broad and clear, but I'd personally lean toward the parents over the spouse. Of course, The financial implications add a very wild card to this situation.
  9. QUOTE(SAVVY18 @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 01:25 PM) Did they change the matchup, it was supposed to be Guzman vs Garland. Garland will pitch in relief.
  10. QUOTE(Yossarian @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 01:18 PM) Canseco was the least hesitant of the players in answering, nonethless he came off looking like a major phony to me. He did endorse steroids big time. As a matter of fact he stated that steroids were passe and old fashioned. Designer drugs tailored to the individual were the wave of the future. Sadly, he may be right. Sports as we've known it may be on the cusp of extinction. He's not the man to be the face of an anti-steroid task force.
  11. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 01:13 PM) I understand and I have not read the book either. From what I've heard though, he endorsed the use of roids, only if it's supervised by a Dr. To me, that seems like a big difference than just saying he pro roids. Even with that qualification, I cannot see having Jose Canseco heading up an anti steroid program of any kind.
  12. QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 12:46 PM) I'm still lost on the Peterson comparison... But I understand the rest.. go figure. OK. If Laci was in Terri Schiavo's situation, would Scott Peterson have had Laci's best interst at heart? Or would it have been an easy way to get her out of the way so he could play with Amber Frey?
  13. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 01:01 PM) Actually I think he said he wrote the book 2 years ago and over that period of time, he has changed his mind about a lot of things. Maybe. He is still on record as endorsing steroid use.
  14. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 12:47 PM) Cotts. Walker hasn't impressed me much cause most of the hitters I've seen him face won't even make it to the bigs for another 2+ years. Which reminds me ... We are practically giving Ozuna the UIF job based on a significant portion of his AB's against pitchers trying to make a ML team, or just plain old ml pitchers.
  15. QUOTE(Molto @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 12:57 PM) I like Konerko and wouldn't mind seeing him sign a long-term deal, but let's not forget the last time he signed a deal. A year into it, a lot of people, including management, were looking back and questioning whether it was a good move, and looking ahead and seeing $16 million going to a player who may not be worth it. Unless Konerko reproduces what he did last season, there is no reason to give him $10 mil or more a season. Which is exactly the reason that PK has not heard from the Sox on his contract. I think they want to take a wait and see attitude.
  16. Chaos. I agree with all of your post with the exception of Canseco being the guy to head a task force. In his book, he basically endorsed steroid use. He changed his tune yesterday after hearing those parents say their piece, but I can't accept that at face value as a change of heart. At least, not enough to have him be the leading spokesman for an anti-steroid task force.
  17. QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 11:41 AM) I don't see the relevance.. can you elaborate further? Sure. Because there is nothing like a parent's love for their child. So many marriages end in divorce and one or the other party would love for the other person to just die for financial reasons. It ain't pretty, but I've seen it. Now, I am a divorcee, but my divorce was very amicable and I still care for my ex-wife. I can all and talk to her any time I want to. We get along great, because we both respect each other. But so many people would let finances or emotions rule them if the situation presented itself as it has done in this case. Pull the tube, and in 2 weeks the problem goes away.
  18. The United States will be blames for this. Take it to the bank.
  19. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 11:38 AM) And isn't Cuba actually considered a "paradise" by some uninformed people nowdays? Well, it isn't overrun with "ugly American" tourists.
  20. QUOTE(winodj @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 11:35 AM) But this dude is Not Scott Peterson. And, as much as I'm trying to keep money out of the equation, the parents aren't the ones going bankrupt keeping her alive either. Good point. But the Scott Peterson comment makes a point and "he" doesn't have to be Scott Peterson.
  21. QUOTE(winodj @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 11:11 AM) I remember this girl in high school. Her mother, who was one of my teachers, had a devastating stroke/brain hemmorhage which left her essentially brain dead. After several months with absolutely no brain activity, they decided to pull the tube. It took her another couple weeks to die. I know it was a heartbreaking decision for them to make and its a decision I'd never wish upon anyone. If a human no longer has any brain capacity whatsoever and no hope for brain capacity to return, is this person still alive in the first place? It seems extreme and brutal to pull a feeding tube, but if the person is incapable of even sensing being fed, is it? I don't know. I lean towards pulling the tube - especially a decade in, but I'm not sure. I definitely think the onus is on the husband to make the choice, not the parents. My argument to the contrary consists of two words: Scott Peterson.

    QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 10:42 AM) is it "Ruthless People"??? You know, I think you've got it. I wouldn't bet the ranch on it though.
  23. QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 11:02 AM) You tease!
  24. QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 10:58 AM) I say I'm average.. the doctor says I am petite. When I think of petite.. I think if a little 4'6" 90lb Asian girl... I thought this was the congressional hearing thread.
