  1. If memory serves me, a lot of Soxtalkers tailgate in Lot E. Steff, or anyone, correct me if I'm wrong about this.
  2. QUOTE(Moose78 @ Mar 25, 2005 -> 01:11 AM) Maybe a little off topic, from the various writers and tv personalities I've spoken with, sounds like the Sox are going to be a very interesting team to follow this season, everyone is VERY optimistic about them, you guys may have to make room on the bandwagon That optimism in the media seems to be hard to find. But hey, we'll certainly make room for them.
  3. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 11:59 PM) If he still is getting rocked at the end of April then I'll be worried about him. ST is just exactly that.......training. End of April? I'll be worried much sooner than that.
  4. QUOTE(winodj @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 01:07 PM) This would be an opinion piece. Not news. Kind of like Bill O'Rielly's show on Fox News.
  5. QUOTE(winodj @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 01:03 PM) Absolutely, let's let the French treat you.
  6. Let me clarify a bit, here. Bonds does have great batting eye, and that does not come from roids. No arguing that point. But still, he was unbelievable for a couple of years, and no one has intimidated pitchers and managers like he did. That, in itself, would add to his walk total. His awesome power contributed greatly to that intimidation.
  7. QUOTE(Y2HH @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 12:49 PM) This was all a big mistake...and I have the scoop. What happened was the Baseball Gods told their "injury peeps" to "injure one of those Chicago pitchers"...but when the news broke that Buehrle broke his foot, the Baseball Gods exclaimed, "Mark Burhrle?! You idiots...when we say injure one of those Chicago pitchers, we mean Prior or Wood...now go fix Buehrle and do your job properly." So the following day Buehrle is magically healed and today Kerry Wood misses his start due to a 'sore back'. I still wonder why I'm considered superstitious... This sounds entiely logical to me. The "goat guy" (can't recall his name) went to the Baseball Gods to reinforce the curse.
  8. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 12:55 PM) In you mind I imagined not but if your argument held any weight there would be at least one other roid player you could compare him to showing such a demonstrative change in walks as a result of roids. I'm asuming since you can't even name such a player you have no basis other than your opinion to support your argument. You could ask the question if Bonds only hit's 40-50 HR's during those yr's roids-free would teams have still intentionally walked him as many times as they did? I believe the answer is yes. You're making the assumption that w/out roids Barry is hitting fly outs. You can take the other argument that w/out roids Barry is not swinging for the fences as much & he's hitting more doubles & singles. No. I'm making the assumption that Bonds would not have been intentionally walked as much as he has been. I'm also making the assumption that pitchers would not pitch around him as much. There is no way to make a comparison to any other player, as no player has had a comparable season to Bonds. So I cannot find another roid player to compare him to.
  9. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 12:25 PM) Roids enabled Bonds to hit more HR's which then is factored into the calculation of his OPS, OBP, & SLG. Unless you have another roids player to compare him to that clearly shows that roids enabled him to hit more singles, doubles, triples, & get walks you are standing in a pile of bulls***. If you can't see how Bonds' ability to hit HR affect his walk totals, and therefore his OBP and OPS, then there is no hope for you.
  10. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 12:16 PM) We a nation of intelligent people who know that our collective intelligence is far superior to that of any one person who determines community standards or is member of a smaller state bureaucracy. We are nation of people that know man's hope lies in science & technology & not that of a bureaucrats opinion. Mankind's demise has as much chance of coming via science and technology as it's hope does.
  11. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 12:08 PM) This is what I was referring to I guess we'll see. This may not be a done deal yet.
  12. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 11:48 AM) FL court rejected Bush's attempt to take custody of Shaivo http://www.cnn.com/2005/LAW/03/24/schiavo/index.html This link is to the USSC rejection. They are reporting on FoxNews that they are still waiting on the FL court decision.

QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 12:01 PM) I believe that's alcohol abuse. You should never drink and drive either. You might hit a bump and spill your drink. It may be alcohol abuse. It all depends on the quality of the comic. Hence, my warning to SS2K5.
  14. It sounds like this case has been decided. May she die quickly and easily and may she rest in piece.
  15. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 11:36 AM) How many persons qualified to serve as judges at the time the US Cons was ratified? How many persons are qualified today? Apples & Oranges. Two different worlds. Show me any evidence that indicates even an inkling that the authors believed the legal profession would grow to the size it has today? On top of that did they have an inkling that judges would serve on the bench into their 70's & 80's? Have you read anything on the effects of aging on the mind? There is no wisdom in choosing cases to be decided by those past the age of retirement over those with a decade or two before it. There's this quote by Thomas Jefferson ... hold on. Get real. How the hell can I present "evidence"?

  17. Economics. Everything is decided by economics. How much would it cost to put the "finest minds in the nation" on this board? It ain't gonna happen. It's cheaper to let them die. Forgive my jaded attitude, but I've been around a while.
  18. QUOTE(mreye @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 09:37 AM) Mariotti again: Is he finally getting it? He has his moments ... but overall? Forget it!
  19. QUOTE(mreye @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 11:06 AM) Already been done. I heard this morning that this plant refines 3% of the nations oil - "So, expect another hike in prices." There's currently a million gas stations raising prices as we discuss this.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 10:57 AM) I think the "pop-up's" are half of the problem As I typed that, I knew there'd be some comic wannabe jump on that.
  21. What we have here is a complete misunderstanding. It happens to be occuring between two people who I like and respect. Deep breath time you two. This is your classic case of internet miscommunication.
  22. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 10:59 AM) I totally understand it though. It is a scary day and age we live in. Very true. This type of thing fits. Oil is $57 a barrel which is taking a bite out of our economy. Bin Laden promised we'd be attacked economically. You don't have to jump very far to reach this conclusion.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 10:56 AM) While we're kinda on the subject of telecom, on a related note, here's my pet peeve: Voice mail menus and prompts. Why can't it be that universally, 1 is for save and 2 is for delete? Why is it different for every phone and voicemail system it seems? I don't know about you guys, but 99% of the time I save or delete a message. I try to speed thru messages and delete them quickly, but I can't remember the prompts, cuz they're different on every system. Sometimes, the prompts are the exact opposite from system to system, so I erase valuable messages. Sometimes erase and delete are like choice 7 or 8. Why the eff do I have to sit and listen to 6 other options that I'll never use before the erase and delete options come up? It's like 'for the weather in Uruguay, press 1, for the average weight of a catalytic converter, press 2, for.........' Phew, there I feel better. OK, I anticipate a variety of pet peeves posted now. But, I had to laugh at your post. It made perfect sense, but I still found it humorous.
  24. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) I haven't even heard it wispered yet. Same here. But that was the first thought that crossed my mind.
