QUOTE (hawksox13 @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 12:57 PM) How about that 10 game road trip in August? 4 at Boston, 3 at NYY, and 3 at Minnesota. Ouch! Too funny.

Aug 24th though Sept 2nd. Ten games, on the road vs Boston, New York and Minnesota. OUCH

This schedule has to be bogus. We don't open against Cleveland.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 12:51 PM) It didn't affect his strikeout rate, and his walk rate didn't go down dramatically IIRC. Fields either needs to become a walk machine and increase his OBP significantly and try to be Adam Dunn Jr. offensively, or drop his K rate by a huge amount if he is to become much of a major leaguer IMO. 200 k's a year, hitting .240 with a pretty low OBP gets you the Greg Norton career in a hurry. He's already in Ozzie's doghouse for regressing defensively. Its a house that is very hard to exit. That defensive regression my very well be a result of that bad knee.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 11:00 AM) Good point. I think if my math is right the Sox can go 6-5 and if the Twins lose 4 games it's over and the Detroit game isn't necessary (I believe the magic number is 10) Let's see. 6 Sox wins + 4 Twins losses = 10. Yes, your math is right. Sorry. I just couldn't resist.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 07:48 AM) damn bottle instructions. I once stood in the shower for an hour just Lather Rinse Repeating. They didnt include a "if repeat=1, then stop" statement This is sooooooooooooooooooooooo tempting. But I won't go there.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 09:26 AM) Going for back to back wins here, and I'll be in attendance again tonight (so no more saying I bring bad luck shipps). Probably will be a high scoring affair tonight I would imagine, but if we can nab a win here, that'll be huge. Bring us home a winner, mate. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 08:14 AM) To be fair, the jury is still out on two of those three kids. Absolutely true. But ... I like guys that have grown up playing the game of baseball. The most valuable tool a player can have is the one between his ears.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 11:16 PM) In the 46 games since Uribe took over for Crede at 3B Juan is hitting .312/.355/.504/.859. That's in 141 ABs. Yes, the man that so many were pissed that we kept when we jettisoned Ozuna, has really stepped up.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 08:03 AM) The sad thing is Borchard, Richards, and Fields would probably be better than what they have now... We should try something unique in the future. Let's try drafting baseball players.

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 02:05 AM) Ozzie throwing clayton back to the bump tomorrow doesn't help our chances for a 3 of 4 from the yankees, unfortunately His decisions sometimes, just laughable Of course, he *could* win, or rather WE could win (He could leave with a lead, or being down, and we could perhaps score more runs ultimately), but the odds of us winning with someone who's as f***ing bad as Clayton Richard, is very slim, and that pisses me off right now So tell me, just exactly what decision would you make? Put it out there for Soxtalk to analyze.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 07:40 AM) Well hopefully that is going to fix the kid, because him being a complete bust is a worst case scenario. How come we draft more quarterbacks than the Bears do?

Fisk was a commander on the ballfield. He just had a presence that drew attention and respect.
