We need a "yawn" smiley. Just saying.

I think the cork and steroids will make some voters hesistant, but he'll eventually get in. Though, he shouldn't.

I think Konerko has a peak trade value right now. Evereyone wanted to give him away last year when his trade value was at an all time low and I was screaming no. Now is the time to move PK if the right deal comes along.

I agree. That's the best idea I've heard yet. Also, I don't see anyway in hell they put up a Joe Jackson statue as long as he is HOF ineligble.
-
Ouch!

That could be spin on Anahiem's part for the purpose of maintaining trade value.

This is a welcome change in the Sox philosophy, in my opinion. There has been a history of the Sox disrespecting players as they left town. Which would cause other players to look at the situation in a negative way and them not want to play for the Sox. Now, they are starting to honor the formers Sox by hiring them and other ways, like the Minnie Minoso statue. Let's look at these coaches and see if the are qualified, which should be all the matters. Start with Ozzie. About a 15 year career followed by 2 or 3 years as a major league coach, one of which was with a world champion team. Joey Cora, again, a muliyear major league career with post season experience and he has, iirc, some minor league managing experience. Greg Walker had a few good seasons in the bigs and worked his way up our minor league system as a hitting coach. Art Kushner was a major league catcher and has coached for a few years now. Rock Raines coaching 1st and teaching basestealers after being one of the greatest basestealers in history. You know he knows how to read a pitcher and at first will be cluing guys in on what to look for. Besides the fact that he was a long time major leaguer with post season and world championship credentials, he also has a year on minor league managing under his belt. Baines is the biggest question mark in my mind, but you can't overlook his experience around the game either. Cooper has been with the organization for 17 years and has worked his way up to his current position. I don't think any of the coaches are underqualified.

I never understood that point of view. He booted his share, that's for sure, but he got to more than his share that others wouldn't and he rarely, if ever, had mental lapses like taking a cutoff and throwing to the wrong base. Those things do happen in MLB and Jose just did not make those kind of mistakes.

If that was posted here, I missed it. Not saying it's not true. I just didn't see it. 9:00 PM on Nov 1 was the first time I was aware of this Lowell endorsement. It's not so much the Bush or Kerry thing with me. It's the liberally slanted media. Personally, I think niether candidate is worth the powder it would take to blow them to hell.

Good riddance to the cancerous piece of s***.

Shingo did have a track record and a guarenteed contract. That makes a difference.

How a player performs in the AFL or winter ball carries no credence with me. They are down there to work on weaknesses or other aspects of their game. I'll wait till ST to judge a player's performance and decide whether or not he should be on the team or someone we can look for down the road.

3 years ago, Carlos was terrible in LF. Some people cannot grasp the fact that Lee is a very solid defensive LF now. He also gets bashed for his baserunning, yet when he makes a mistake it's usually due to aggresiveness when the team is in the doldrums it seems to fall into at some point every year. Lee has also been bashed for swinging for the fences. When did he start doing that in '04? After Frank and Maggs went down and the Sox needed him to supply some more power. I totally agree with those that say Carlos Lee is generally underappreciated by Sox fans.
-
That might have had something to do with the fact that he had a broken bone and couldn't run, yet he was trying to hang in and help the club till Magglio got back from the DL.

I'd say Kenny's comments about payroll are strictly spin in the event that plans fall through. This would lower expectations and give him an out in the event that none of his attempts at signing a big name player pans out.

Getting mixed signals on Guardado's health. I read at point during the season that he'd be out till June or July of '05. I wonder what the real deal is.
-
To add a little something to your case, Cabrera played half the season on a carpet that smooths out those ground balls. Bad hops are almost nonexistant on turf. Had he played all year on a grass infield, his error totals probably would have had a marginal increase.

When the Crawford TX newspaper endorsed Sen. Kerry, the mainstream media trumpeted the news loud and clear for all to hear. I wonder how many people were aware that the Lowell (Mass) Sun endorsed the President. They weren't too kind to the esteemed senator .... From the heart of Kerry country When people argue thatthe mainstream media is not drastically liberal, stuff like this reduces their credibility to peanuts in my eyes. And let me reiterate that I am not going to vote for Bush today. So don't think this is from a Bush supporter, because it is not.

So, is this what KW had in mind when he got Everett and Alomar again?
-
Okay, unless I'm totally off base here ... they Sox declined the option on Sandy, not Roberto. Robbie is still under contract for next year, is he not?
-
Stoney's departure now makes the Cubs a totally classless organization. He was the only part of the franchise to have any class whatsoever.
-
The way you used "for the good of the club" in quotes implies that I have been bashing Magglio and that is not the case. When I have felt the Sox were being bashed unfairly here, I may have said ... they did this because Maggs said that .. or something. I wish Magglio nothing but success. ...... Unless he goes to the Cubs, Yankees, Red Sox, Twins, etc.

It SEEMS like a good fit. Ok, maybe so. That doesn't mean the Lowe has ruled out every possibility that isn't Detriot or Boston. People keep posting this kind of stuff like its gospel. Another example ... "Pavano prefers to stay in the NL." See it all the time .... in here.

Info like this is always good.
