If Barry Bonds were transported back to the mid 80's he'd get knocked on his ass the first time he crowded the plate. And since he wears armor, they'd aim at his chin. No ... Bonds would not hit 50 HR.
Derek Lowe's situation is a perfect example. The only thing I've seen in print about him going to Detroit was a Detroit writer speculating that he might consider playing for the Tigers because he is native to the area. Then that has gotten blown up to the point that it's either Boston or Detroit. I still don't buy it.
Sure. It makes sense that the better the competition, the more often they will succeed and you will fail. The point I'm trying to make here is that reasoning people have when they say Keith choked in big games is that they had seen him do so against good teams and did not feel he could be counted on to nail it down in the playoffs.
It almost single handedly ruined this one too. We are still suffering the effects of Reinsdorf's hard line stance and will continue to do so until he sells the team, or he puts a championship caliber team on the field.
Exactly! .... Which is why JM and KW felt that Foulke could not be counted on to be a playoff type closer. Two years later he proves them wrong, but he wouldn't have been here for those two years anyway ... which KW was well aware of.
Maddux is overpaid? I'd gladly spend $5Million a year to put him in our rotation. And that's to say nothing of the effect he could have on guys like Garland, Cotts, Adkins, etc.
I think this is total bulls***. If KW can land Johnson there is no way he moves him unless the bottom falls out of the team prior to the July 31 trade deadline.
First of all, it's non due to a lack of respect that we haven't opened at home in years. It's due to the fact that the Sox requested road openers. Secondly, as has been pointed out but seems to be worth restating, the Sox do open 2005 at home.
