  1. Next week, we may actually elect as our Commander in Chief a man who possibly was dishonorably discharged from the United States Armed Forces. God Bless America! She's gonna need it.

    Deja Vu

You look at what Schilling is doing for the Red Sox right now and you can understand why KW wants a pitcher like Randy Johnson. However, that type of thing doesn't always work out. For example, this was exactly the reason we went out and got David Wells prior to 2001. Another example is this year with Kevin Brown and the Yankees. Adding Maddux to the Cubs all but guarenteed them the brass ring. But again, even though Maduux did not disappoint, things just didn't work out for a multitude of other reasons. If we were able to get to the playoffs though, it sure would be nice to trot RJ out to mound for a game 7 somewhere along the way.
  3. Lofton was a sparkplug until he aggravated that hammy. From that point on, he was abysmal.

Speaking stricly about contract vs. probable return, Pedro is definitely more of a risk than Johnson. Pedro has showing signs of beginning to break down, as he's had some nagging arm problems over the past few years. However, when you take into consideration that Johnson would have to be acquired via trade, Pedro does not look like such a bad gamble.
  5. My gut feeling is that it will be a Lee/Garland for Johnson trade. At least on a basic level. There may be other players thrown in from both sides. Then I see 'Zona moving Lee for a couple of good young players. With 'Zona's new ownership, I believe they are tearing down to rebuild and attempt to put a longtime player developement system in place and get away from the high priced free agents as they've done in the past. I doubt Johnson is a DBack on opening day.

Sorry folks, but Halladay deserved that Cy Young award.
  7. The only thing that pisses me off more than a spam post, is a post that b****es about a spam post. Just kidding, but chill out a little bit. :rolly
  8. I really can't blame the Red Sox for their spending. They are, after all, in the same division as the Yankees and have to compete with them. They are doing all they can to stay with and/or beat the Evil Empire. They have the financial means to do so and anything short of giving it their best efforts would make them look like JR.
  9. I've been trying to decide who I actually want to win this thing. The Cardinals are my favorite NL team, but I am an AL fan. If Boston wins it, it puts and end to the talk of the curse, which is a good thing in itself. Of course, we'll have to listen to east coast bias in staggering quanitities next year. If Boston ends their curse, then that will give those idiots that watch the Cubs hope, so that sucks. When it comes down to it, I think I'm gonna pull for the Redbirds so those jerks on the coast know that there are teams in the Midwest that know how to play this game too.
  10. He doesn't play on the east coast.
  11. Someone in the organization recommended a change that they thought would help Honel get to the majors. Now that should be a hanging offense. All organizations try and change and mold their young players as they come up through the system. Yet, this is something that the Sox organization should be blamed for. :rolly Okay!
  12. The thing that people seem to forget is that Keith Foulke would still be with Boston if that trade had never been made.
  13. Likewise for me. The LAST thing I consider myself is liberal.
  14. Yes it does. Because if he was I wouldn't have read more than a paragraph.
  15. Edmund's catch in game 7 vs. the Astros would be a good call for play of the year. Talk about clutch.
  16. You were like me. No one was worried about your arm because you never had one. Seriously, you probably threw that sinker over the top, with which snapping your wrist would be a "natural" motion. The knuckler involves no wrist snap whatsoever, so that wouldn't hurt anyone's arm.
  17. Why should anybody be blamed? Honel hurt his arm. He's a pitcher. It happens.
  18. A lefty starting combo of Milton, Buehrle would be a joke.
  19. Both theories work if you get a good mix and injuries are minimal. Why not fill some holes with some of the so called difference makers.
  20. I would think that the message would be what's important and not the reasons that the message is getting publicity. But that's just me.
  21. As much as I disliked Clinton as President, I do think he'd be a good Sect'y Gen of the UN.
  22. Rita Rudner is also funny. If any of you are ever in the Cleveland area, there's a lady there named Kathy Dice. Check her out, she's a hoot.
  23. Fransisco. That way he could throw chairs at the Ligue's.
