  1. What can I say, Rex? The man just bores me to no end. I respect him and I can appreciate what others see in him, but I'd rather listen to just about anyone else call a ballgame that's currently a play by play man.
  2. I could see KW going after Randy Johnson, but that is one trade I truly feel KW would be tempted to overpay. I'd rather he approach that need for a starter in some other way. I seem to recall that 'Zona (or somebody) was throwing around the names of Garland and Rowand as the START of a package for RJ.
  3. There is a lot of stuff about Mary Magdeline on the net that goes beyond the DaVinci Code. See supposedly traveled with Joseph of Arimethia and the Virgin Mary to the British Isles. Some contend that she was, literally, the Holy Grail. If she was pregnant then her womb was the "cup holding the blood of Christ". I know there is a whole lot history that has been forgotten and/or altered to serve purposes of certain individuals and organizations throughout history. I don't know what to believe, other than to not believe what is considered to be the accepted vesion of biblical history.

I'm at approximately 9000 posts as I type this and, honestly, I don't feel like I am part of any clique. I'm not in regularcontact with any Soxtalk members outside of the boards and rarely use PM's while on the board. TexSox is right though. It's a question of credibilty. Some people have earned the respect of others on the board. However, let one of those say something outlandish and ridiculous, they'll be called out on it. It would happen to any poster on hear regardless of who they are, postion on the board, length of time here or number of posts. EDIT: In fact, this was my 9000th post.
  5. I'd love to see it too. I'll never forget the Sox fans giving him that standing ovation the first time he came back to Comiskey.
  6. That would be the previously mentioned Vin Scully.
  7. That's bad news. He was the one I was hoping the Sox get. Radke or Lowe would be OK with me. Pavano also, of course.
  8. Technically, you are right. It should have been posted here. However, when I posted there, it was breaking news and I knew more people would see it on the Palehose board. In fact, I expected it to be moved at some point.
  9. You know, RedandWhite, Boston may very be the #1 sports town right now, but that has as much to do with the Patriots, if not moreso, as the RedSox. I'll tell you this much though, the best BASEBALL town in this country is St. Louis. Of course, you'll see that when the Cardinals roll over the Red Sox in the World Series. Ok, just kidding there with that last sentence. However, the only sports fans more arrogant than New Engalnd sports fans are New York sports fans. That's why you guys hate them so much. They out-arrogant you. And the Yanks supply them with the s*** to walk the walk too. I hope the Red Sox stomp the hell out of the Yankees, for a change. But if they do, then any Nor'easter coming across the US will be a warm front.
  10. I'll tell you something about Joe Morgan. He let's race influence his opinion of ballplayers. If you take two players of similar talents, one white and the other black, Morgan will express a preference for the black player every time. There is one announcer I hate that is considered a legend. That would be Vin Scully. That guy bores me to tears.
  11. This was a classy move and it involved two of the classiest organizations in baseball.
  12. I thought so!!!! Someone for the Sox (Uribe?) hit a walk off GS this year and all the papers said it was the first Sox walk off GS since 1985. Yet, the whole time I'm thinking Robin had one. I wasn't sure I remembered things correctly so I never mentioned here at the time, but I kept watching for one of you other Soxtalkers to validate my memory. Sadly, it didn't happen. I guess I should have said something then.
  13. I agree. Crack and Coke probably had as much to do with KC's death as steroids.
  14. The Player's Association should be held accountable for the current stand on steriods, too.
  15. A battle of the $$$$$. Again. :puke
  16. Ditto. I always respected the way Robin played the game. Another 6 homers would have been nice for him, but he did have a solid career.
  17. I don't recall where I came up with this, but I thought Kent was contemplating retirement.
  18. He had it all. He made some poor choices and has now paid the ultimate price. It's a shame, but he's not the first.
  19. Thank you. They just ran the story on SportsCenter.
  20. ESPN Bottom Line just reported that Camenetti died of a heart attack at age 41.
  21. I think the lack of steroids if affecting Sosa's thinking.
  22. I see me visiting SL&P less frequently in the future. Too much bulls*** spewed in here. Nothing personal guys, but most of my visits will here will be to check out non-political threads from now on.
  23. I agree. Remember, Maggs was supposed to be at the rehab stage and his knee was healing just fine? That was two weeks ago, or so .... he would have only been two weeks beyond surgery. Something's rotten in Vienna.
