To quote Bill Murray from Stripes.... "That's the fact, Jack!"
-
The fans were NEVER to blame for the 1919 scandal. The players and that skinflint Comiskey are the ones that deserve the blame. It's a sacrilege that we honor that tool with a statue of him in the new ballpark. The name Comiskey needs to be forever disassociated from the Sox in the future.

Would you rather the Sox say to Ordonez "Tough break with that career ending injury, but because of loyalty and the fact you are such a class act, we'll give you a gauranteed 5 year $70,000,000 contract." Get serious. For the good of the ballclub, they had to use caution before leaving that kind of money on the table.

He must have something to hide, or he'd nip this quickly and loudly.
-
Both sides have been pulling that crap for years. When one party or the other get in power they try to use that power to their advantage so that they may stay in power. I remember the Dems in Illinois pulling, or attempting to, the same stunt a few years ago.

For every Fox news there's a CBS news, NBC news, ABC news, CNN , MSNBC ...
-
Doesn't 60 minutes have a Wednesday edition? Doesn't CBS have a nightly news broadcast?

Only when it comes to salaries. He's very modernistic, even progressive, when it comes to pricing.
-
As much as Favre has b**** slapped the Bears over the years, he's always been one of my favorite players in the league. You just have to respect him for what he has done. I'm hoping this turns out well for Brett and his family.

That's to say nothing of the class display put on by Yankee fans when those calls were overturned in the playoffs. Or the Cub fan's littering the field whenever calls went against them. These incidents were hardly mentioned and will be forgotten by opening day, yet we are still living with legacy of a very small number of large idiots.

They should have a kick ass farm system as long as they have been a losing team.
-
You can look at this in another way, though. If the Sox have, for example, Buehrle, Garcia and Hudson locked up for 3 years and one of them, say Buehrle, goes down. Would you rather build a rotation around Garcia and Hudson, or Garcia and 4 question marks?
-
I'm gonna hold you to that!
-
It may be. Paulie's no dummy and I believe that as he gets older and smarter, he'll be a better hitter.
-
Well Aaron is playing better right now than Carlos did through 2002. Lee came into his own in 2003, as an all around ballplayer, and followed up in '04 with another damn good year. I'd really like to keep Rowand around and see just how good he can get.
-
I knew 2003 was one of those "career years" on the negative side for Paulie. This year may been his positive career year, but I don't think so. I don't think he has topped out yet.
-
I'm not sure when Carlos hit that 1000 AB mark, but 2 years ago there was a multitude right here on Soxtalk that wanted to dump Carlos "the lawn ornament" Lee.
-
I think Foulke is speaking quite loudly from the mound right now. Go get 'em Keith.
-
Trading those top prospects should not be an option at this point. The Sox need to restock the farm system and let some of these guys develop. The second tier guys are ok to move, but Sweeney, Anderson, BMAc and Baj should not go anywhere.
-
Rowand doesn't just have a chance to be a good player. He already is a good player. I've liked Rowand since he came up and always believed he'd be a very solid guy to have on a ballteam. And if you want to talk about grinders, Rowands picture should be next to the word in the dictionary. Superstar? No. But a very solid, hustling, team oriented ballplayer.... he's already there.
-
Hudson would be a VERY solid pick up for the Sox. If they could sign him for 3 years, then they'd have a solid 1-2-3 punch at the top of the rotation and could build the rest of them from there.
-
If Rowand has to be part of the deal, KW should just hang up the phone and look elsewhere.
-
This was a no brainer. Paulie had to win that award.
-
I don't see what everyone is so upset about. Foulke said the Sox made a mistake, and the general concensus around here is that he is correct, at least, based on past discussions.

Apparently, most sports fans dont think much of us
YASNY replied to knightni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Our history as a franchise is pathetic, to say the least. I'll be 47 next week and still do not have a White Sox World Series in memory. This is one reason why some fans, like Cubkilla for example, are down on the Reinsdorf regime. We are approaching 25 years of ineptitude and still don't seem to have a solid plan in place to get into position to grab the brass ring. Someone said that poll didn't mean anything, but I feel that it speaks volumes. With our current ownership and methodology, most fans think the a White Sox world championship has only a very slim chance of happening. I can't say I disagree with them, either. I'm always hopeful, but logic tells me not to expect it anytime soon.
