That's one of Billy Bean's MO's.

Oh ye of little faith...

We had the same problem with the .500 mark for a while, and got over that hump. We'll get over this one too.

He wasn't hiding it. The team knew about it. Why the tem didnt puit him on the DL??? JM said that he had a couple of times they had to shut him down, but the next day he was fine. It's happened a few times now, so they decided they better put him on the DL now. Thanks YASNY. I think this was the cause of his s*** performance and the drop of his velocity. What you think? Do you think we will see the real Koch in this season or next season? With elbow problems, we may be seeing the "real" Koch right now. I hope not, but it's a possibility.

Then again, there's this:

And now that I think about it... noone from Chicago mentioned Styx! By the way... Not a "rocker" but Lady by Styx is one of my all time favorites.

A couple of corrections here...... Frankenstien was done by The Edgar Winter Group, not Johnny Winter. It was on the album "They Only Come Out at Night" as was another hit, "Free Ride". Also misnamed as a Johnny Winter hit, was Rock-n-Roll Hootchie Koo. That was by Rick Derringer. Anything off of "Dark Side of the Moon" by Pink Floyd is classic. And for you Michiganders, how can you not mention Grank Funk Railroad or Bob Seger?

At one time, "Cowboys and Indians" was the one they were concerned about.

Being a "night person", I've been watching Mars for a couple of weeks now. It appears to be a very bright pinkish-orange star. There is no way that I believe it will even come close to appearing to be as big as the moon.

Yet, I saw on some thread, where JM got criticized for using Flash with a 6 run lead.

That's because sooner or later she WILL be right!.

I'm always optimistic, but I've been a Sox fan too long not to be a realist. This was just 1 out 162, no big deal. We'll got a good streak going here, and we'll keep it going. No need to panic when we lose one or no need to execute somebody for making an error or having a bad game, either.
-
This is not a concern of mine, one way or the other. I want the Sox to win this year. If bringing him up means we have to use him and sit PK or BD, and it costs us a game, don't do it. Lose him if we have to. Whatever.

It's all moot at this point. Fogg, Wells and Ritchie are all long gone.
-
I agree. Particularly with the point on Danny Wright's value out of the bullpen. That can turn into more wins, than Cotts could possibly lose as the 5th starter. Plus, we didn't lose this one, so it turned out alright.
-
Oops ... my bad. Thank you.

Not that I doubt you, just curious.... Info source?

Sometimes, when a team has a safe division lead, they will spot start a sixth starter to give their main starters an extra day of rest or to set the rotation up for the playoffs. But, it usually is just a spot start by a September call-up or a young long reliever.

I think the key to Loaiza's success this year, in addition to his awesome cutter, is the fact that he has matured. He used to just takle the mound every fifth day and not prepare for the game. The fact that Toronto released him was a wake-up call for him. He now watches video of opposing hitters and has a gameplan when he takes the mound. We just happened to be the fortunate beneficiaries of this new maturity and dedication of his part.

I'll take our 5-man rotation, with Wright or Cotts in the 5 hole, over KC's or Minnesota's 4 or 5 man rotation, whichever they choose to use. I think we can win this without going to a 4 man rotation.
-
ok... with the schedule we got, when do we go with a 4-man rotation? we blew the fifth starter.... not going to happen this late in the game. wins are precious this time of year... we need every one of them.... i think we are past the point of fumble-f***ing around for a fifth starter If we go to a 4-man rotation, then you get into the bullpen every game. They won't let complete games happen for fear of overworking the starters. I think the 5th starter is lesser or two evils, so to speak.

i concur I do not. There is NO, I repeat, NO pressure on Neal right now. There is pressure on Jimmy Gobble in KC, because he is replacing Jose Lima in the rotation, who has been the ace of that staff. That's pressure. Neal is in the #5 spot in the rotation, where he will work when he is the freshest arm in the rotation, and all he has to do is give the team 5 or 6 strong innings and giving the team a chance to win. If he gives up 5 runs and we lose 5-3, is that his fault he lost? I don't think so. If Neal can't get the job done, he will be sent back to AA. How hard is that to understand? In my mind, you can experiment with a pitcher in the #5 spot, since we will only need him 2 or 3 more times. I would rather have Neal out there and Danny in the bullpen instead of having Danny in the rotation and having ????? in the pen. Danny's got one of the better arms in the upper levels. No way would I want a good arm rottting away in the #5 slot in the rotation instead of being in the bullpen where help is needed. BINGO! Good post.
