  1. Sullivan has a history of being durable. However, the fact that he just came off the DL does concern me. If he is not damaged goods, then great. But if he is, KW should flat out be fired for not doing his due diligence. It'll be a Billy Koch deal, all over again. De Ja-f***ing-vu. Well Sullivan has been very good since coming off the DL, which is a great sign. I agree, Chisoxfn. Still, I'm somewhat concerned about the possibilities.
  2. With Arizona'a financial situation, there is no way in hell they make this deal.
  3. Sound thinking on your part. You just may have nailed that one.
  4. I can't say that I'm enthusiastic about Koch coming back. I can't see that two week layoff causing his fastball to get back up to triple digits. If it does, then great. But realistically, I don't expect it. And it'n not a lack of faith in Billy Koch. I think after a winter off, he will get back to where he was, but not in 2 weeks.
  5. Geez... get real. By the end of the this series, we'll have more games on the road than we do at home (by 1). We need to play good ball on the raod from here on out, or we won't win s***. Then we need to be able to play good on the road during the post-season. Screw the excuses ... it's time to play good baseball no matter where we have to do it.
  6. I had to think about that for a minute, too.

  8. Damn right! .... You have to give KW his due. I, for one, am tired of waiting on the elusive "someday". I've been waiting for 40 years. We needed a quality righty out of the pen to increase our chances of making the playoffs. KW went out and got just that without weakening our current team. No way in hell can I criticize him for this move.
  9. I believe he's capable of being a number 2 as well. He'll get there.

    Mmmm.. yummy

What the hell is this thread about?
  11. ) Who will win the series (CHW/TEX/Split) (2 points)? CHW 2) Will Neal Cotts get a win (Y/N) (2 points)? no 3) How many errors will the Sox make (4 points)? 3 4) How many times will Miguel Olivo strikeout (4 points)? 2 5) What will Mark Buehrle's season ERA be after the series (I will give .01 either way) (5 points)? 4.17 6) How many RBI will Carlos Lee have in the series (5 points)? 6 7) How many earned runs will Bartolo Colon allow (4 points)? 4 8) Will Carl Everett have at least 5 hits in the series (Y/N) (2 points)? No 9) Who will be in 2nd place in the AL Central after the series (2 points)? Twins 10) Will Hank Blalock hit a homerun (Y/N) (2 points)? Yes TIEBREAKER: Total runs scored in the series by both teams 46
  12. That's pretty decent for a number 4 starter. Look around baseball and see what other number guys are doing. I'm sure he comes in as "above average". I have to disagree with you here yas. It really doesnt matter if hes a # 2, 3, 4 or 5. What matters is how he pitches. The results, his progress, his getting the most out of his ability. He may only be 23 or whatever, but hes been around for 4 years. Personally, I ecpect tonights performance to be the norm for Jon, not the exception. Yes he is young but its time to stop making excuses and PITCH. I honestly believe that 90% of the major league teams would love to have Jon Garland as their number 4 starter. He's only going to get better as he gets older. I agree that he needs to shut up and pitch, but that will come with maturity.
  13. Next year, Rauch will be back up to par.
  14. If they lose that game, we'll know to come looking for you!
  15. As reputedly cheap the Sox have been over the years, I cannot see them sitting Valentin for that reason as long as we are in the thick of the race. If Reinsdorf or Williams orders this done, then JR might as well pack up his bags, sell the team and get out of Chicago.
  16. I'd bet that every Cub fan watching that game held their breath when that bat broke.
  17. Even if the Sox do lose 2 out of 3 to NY, that does not mean the team needs to be "forked" again.
  18. I was just asking, Darlin'. That wink at the end of your post made me think that just maybe there was more to the story.

    sweep

We need to win the next game. I'll repost this a few dozen times in the next few weeks.
  20. Oh! OK .... If you say so.
  21. You are right on the money with that comment. Frank says that a ring is his motivation this year. Ok, if so, it's time for him to suck it up and be THE BIG HURT again.... home or away.
  22. Yep! It sure is. Isn't this fun? I love being in the race, for a change.
  23. I love the fact that we are getting another game on national TV, but we'll just have to see about JR opening up the purse strings.
