  1. This is from a chat session on ESPN:
  2. Hey, thanks for reading my post. You're right, very similar. I did, however, try and add a little to point.

  4. Hey, they didn't exactly give as Alomar and Everett. They got some pretty good kids from us. But the fact that KW did it early did help jumpstart this team.

    Olivo

This comment from a future US Marine? .... Dude, you're in for a rude awakening.
  6. No way do you bring Koch in a close game if it can be avoided. At least not until he proves he can be the Billy Koch we expected to get when the trade was made. I think we'll see that guy eventually, but probably not till next year.
  7. Jiminez has the baseball instincts of a coconut. Good riddance to him.
  8. How can anyone say they don't develope their players. The Yankees homegrown players are the heart and soul of that team. Posada, Jeter, Soriano, Williams, Rivera .... That's the ever important "strength up the middle" and a world class closer. Then you add guys like Pettitte and Nick Johnson to the mix. How many teams have 7 key team members that were home grown? The real advantage the Yankees have is that they can afford to make mistakes. Like what happened with Kenny Rogers, Sterling Hitchcock and this Cuban guy, Contreras. Look at the effect the "mistake" made by Cinci on Griffey has had on that team. The Yanks would have just shipped him off and spent to replace him with the best player available. I wish Jerry Reinsdorf could afford to run the White Sox like Steinbrenner runs the Yankees. And if I was in Steinbrenners shoes, I'd take the same approach.

    Tampa

They've been playing pretty good ball. Piniella must be getting their attention.
  10. C'mon guys. We b**** about not getting any respect from ESPN and the local media. Here we are getting respect from a local columnist on ESPN. Best of both worlds. Just enjoy it while we can.
  11. I can't believe what I just read. To even jokingly wish for someone's death is just totally way out of line. That is a really classless thing to do.
  12. We out homered the Royals 13-2. THAT is awesome!

    Gammons

Gammons or not, Boston deserves to be included in the list of winners.
  14. JM does have his strengths, which cwsox aptly mentioned. He has pulled the team out of the doldrums this year and each of the past two years. Unfortunately, it usually takes months to do so.

    Loaiza

It would be nice if Loaiza could win the CYA, but winning it all is the only thing that really matters.

    How was

That was my point. Some questioned why this deal was even made. This, I believe, answers that question.
  17. Leave it to Sosa to get caught with a corked bat, and then expect an apology from his "critics". What a f***in' moron!
  18. Tampa Bay has been playing well. That's a fact. I hope they can keep it going against a now demoralized Royals team. Detroit can effectively pull a team out of a slump, so we'll have to see in Seattle. The fact that Stand Pat Gillick did not make any moves to counter what Oakland did, may put the M's down in the dumps a bit. Some of them were shooting off their mouth's once the trade deadline passed. Let's hope this is the case.

    Botch trade

Koch has had an "off" year once before and came back strong. Even though this trade has major implications on this season, it still can't be fairly judged for two or three years. This is true of most trades. Example: Clement-Alfonseca for Willis deal.
  20. That's good to hear. I was getting concerned about JB. He has so much talent, if he can cut down that swing.

    How was

So far so good. 3 IP, 1 ER. Let me ask you guys this... Would you have felt comfortable with Glover pitching the 10th and 11th innings tonight?
  22. Yes he is. The Twins wanted Stewart to put in the lead off spot so they move Jones down in the order. Not a bad idea on their part, but I'd agree with Bmr and say I'd rather have Kielty.
