  1. Glad I could brighten your morning.
  2. He's hardly a kid... He's 34 years old.
  3. ohhh but they look so darn good on paper.....you sure they are going to suck this year too????????? oh well theres always next year.........Completely Useless Before Spring...........oh and i had such high hopes for a cross town world series this season... oh well................ I actually saw... I think at The Sporting News site.... an email from a delusional Cub fan saying that the Cubs were actually going to WIN the NL Central. *shaking head*

    Wirtz

Any owner that cannot appreciate the value of television as a promotional tool has got to be totally archaic in his thinking. Someone mentioned the '60's.... The '40's is more appropriate. Sell, please sell.
  5. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't this guy the mayor of Cleveland when the city went into DEFAULT?

    I think of Radar O'Rielly.
  7. I enjoy Hawk and DJ, but I liked Hawk and Wimpy much more. The former Sox broadcaster I really liked to listen to, though, was Don Drysdale. Now that man knew his stuff. I always was wishing they'd take him out of the booth and make him the pitching coach. Then the Sox pitchers would know how to dust those plate crowding guys. DD would never have put up with that.
  8. When they say a 2nd and 3rd base prospect, they mean top-level prospects. Like Crede and Hummel, that's how much they want, too bad there not gonna get it. Don't we have another kid in the minors that's a pretty good 3B prospect.... Schnurstein, or something like that? How about him and Hummel or Harris? That might get it done if that 3B-man is a god enough prospect.
  9. That is one helluva great memory. I'm telling you people... Jose Valentin is a winner!
  10. I stand by my original statement. Over the big picture, these spring games against the Cubs don't mean a thing. Of course, if you are Cub fan and you know you're team is going to totally suck, then you grasp at any straw you can and hang your hat on a meaningless spring training game.
  11. A couple of articles here from the Trib. One on Miguel Olivo and another on Arnie Munoz.

    France

I care! and the U.S. cares because France has veto power in the UN Security Council so a war resolution from the UN is not going through! WOOHOO FOR FRANCE! France is not going to use that veto. Because, if they did and we go anyway, then France would appear to the rest of the world as being irrelevent. Which they realistically are anyway. I generally refrain from using profanity on these boards, however, in this case I have to agree with those that say "f*** France!". Damn, piece of s*** country... Just think of all the Americans that are buried on French soil. I hope the next time some Hitleresque SOB inavdes France... We let her rot in her own pompous s***.
  13. Mario emailed me when he started up, letting me know he was starting up a new Sox page. Though how he connected with me I couldn't tell you. I was in WSI for a short while, that may have been it. Anyway, I checked things out for awhile, forgot about it, changed PC's. I was cleaning files off of my old PC to give it to my sister, and found the bookmark. Came back and checked it out again and have been here regularly, since.
  14. Just be sure that Larry Sherry is, in fact, retired.
  15. If I'm right in saying this here, SNR will be bringing us the very first Sox/Cubs matchup of spring training. This is where we estabilsh who the b**** in Chicago is! That establishes nothing. Of course, I always want the Sox to win, but these games are meaningless. I hope they concentrate on getting ready for the Twins. We'll stomp the Cubs back in Chicago, when it counts.
  16. witesoxfan, great rant. I'm glad we are putting Valentin back at SS. We are a much better team when he is there. supernuke: I personally give Jose a lot of credit for the 2000 season. I do that because I watched himplay the game. The dude is just a gamer. He'll do anything he can to try and beat you. Hell, look at the Cubs game where Jose mocked Sosa. While the Cubs are out of the field with one eye on Jose in the Sox dugout, the next guy (Lee?) hits a long one. It's been awhile and I don't remember the details, but that was what won that game. I remember hearing Tommy Williams on the score give Valentin hell about that one night. I emailed him and pointed out, with more detail, basically what I've said about that game here. He emailed me back and said that I made some very valid points, but he still didn't like it.
  17. You can figure on Colon being elsewhere if we have that much good young(read: cheap) pitching talent. That's just the JR way.
  18. You know, that's EXACTLY what Jerry Manuel said on TV last night! And I couldn't agree more! He sure looks better in silver and black than he did with that stupid laughing Chief Wahoo on chest.
  19. I agree that Jose won't be with us next year. Jiminez will be our 2004 shortstop, but Hummell might take that 2B job before Harris ever claims it.
  20. I thought this comment was very interesting. I could certainly live with those stats from Olivo.
  21. You're insane! Seriously, Olivo is going to have plenty to work on, learn, worry about.... without the added burden of hitting 1 or 2.
  22. I think this thread is just a bit premature.
  23. I feel for this young man's parents. Nothing is more devastating.
  24. I'd like to see Harris play regularly... just as long as he beats someone else out of their job. If he can do that, then he is an improvement, whether it be 2B or CF. He's going to have to show a whole lot more than he did last year to beat out either Jiminez or Rowand.
