  1. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 04:04 PM) Todd Bertuzzi is reinstated...now there is a guy that would be a perfect fit for the Hawks. He is a prototypical "Power"forward. I'd be ecstatic if we got him. He's a monster.
  2. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 12:16 PM) Damn, man. Valeri Bure... hasn't played a full season since 2000. Just what we need, more cripples. Maybe we can get Brad Isbister as well...
  3. QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 07:13 AM) This smells a lot like Magic Johnson coaching the Lakers a few years back. :banghead Does that mean Wayne will have his own really, really bad TV show?
  4. QUOTE(UofIChiSox @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 09:42 AM) Sox, then flip to Bears between innings for updates. That, but I dont care THAT much about a game that really doesnt mean anything.
  5. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 12:58 AM) Now, I'm gonna throw out a name. Valeri Bure. I believe he is on the market. Any thoughts? Use green next time.
  6. QUOTE(WSFAN35 @ Aug 7, 2005 -> 11:49 AM) A lot of people underestimate the Pens D. They have an excellent mix of stay at home and offensive defensman. Gonchar/Orpik, Tarnstrom/Melichar, Strbak/Jackman, not many people are familiar with any of these guys, but they're all solid NHLers. Not many teams have six solid guys at the blue line. The pens forward core is also filled with players that are excellent in their own zone, Lemieux, Crosby, Malkin (if he comes over), Recchi, Malone, Koltsov, and Kraft are all going to get prime playing time and they'll be there to help out the D. I disagree about them ALL being solid NHLers. Tarnstrom couldn't cover me in his own end. Orpik is going to be something special, but not yet. Brooks can't handle the puck as well as Tarnstrom but is average on D. Jackman is tough as nails but I skates like hes 40. They have some holes, lots of young, raw talent, but not enough to win yet.
  7. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) I've been reading any hockey-related news that I can 'get my hands of' lately, and a suitor for Thibault that has come up are the 'Yotes. Two interesting names from that team are Mike Comrie and Krys Kolanos. Both are centers, pretty young, and neither has really played to their 'potential' quite yet. I'd do a Thibault + Yakubov swap for either of the two. Rather Comrie, face off winner and a spectacular playmaker. That would be an amazing trade by Tallon but I think they just re-upped with a goalie, Boucher maybe?
  8. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 11:59 AM) Yeah, from what I have read Fleury has regressed more than progressed the past year. Also, I think Toronto could be a team interested in TBo. They have Belfour and who else right now? I know they are trying to dump him and go for CuJo. Again though, goalies get better with age. In 99 the Bulin Wall was in the minors. So I don't think regression is happening to Fleury, just inexperience.
  9. QUOTE(The Critic @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 07:01 AM) Will the piss-yellow pads look as impressive when they're no longer the size of twin mattresses? Yes, you'll start to see goalies be more aggressive and stand up more. Kind of like the early nineties. Fleury is already as aggressive as can be and will be able to cover angles and shots in tight without problem.
  10. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 10:07 PM) How high is Pitt on Marc-Andre? Didn't he have a pretty poor year at wherever he was playing...? He came right in after the last draft and started. They are very, very high on him. Big time butterfly goalie who moves extremely well. AWESOME positioning and will rarely get beat short side. He is really aggressive in the net too, likes to play way out on the top of his crease. That said, he's gonna be 20, so in about 4-5 years we'll really see what he can do. Remember goalies take longer to develop. I think he's gonna be a superstar but he needs more seasoning, much like Lehtonen has gotten in the A. Besides, what's not to love about his piss yellow pads?
  11. This was funny news to me. During my goaltending camp my instructor came out and told us. His assistant is Craig Anderson, who seemed happy but anxious about his future. Really great signing for the Hawks. PS, I like Jimmy Dowd over Nichol anyday. Gritty, FO winner who can do some good things to get production out of Mark Bell.
  12. I like Andre Roy actually, he has decent skills for an enforcer. Not many people give him credit for an absolute rocket of a slapshot.
  13. QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 10:54 PM) and im not talking about Christian Ruutu who played for the Hawks back in the mid 90's Christian RuuTTu had two "T's"
  14. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 10:23 PM) Some kind of weak steroid and I heard (for all of you that care so much about little details on a message board. I doubt Peppers or his agent are reading this board) he was a pothead, possibly even stronger narcotics. An NFL player on narcotics? NO WAY!!!
  15. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 08:27 PM) I think the Hawks land someone here. Actually Yanic Perrault would be a GREAT fit in Chicago. Agreed, Perrault can win faceoffs, something the Hawks seem to strugggle with, and score goals, another Hawk problem.
  16. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 09:17 AM) I think our defense is set. I can live if we land 'Bulin along with a top-line player. I can even live if we just get one or the other. But we need to land one of the two. I disagree here. You guys love Khabibulin too much. Is he good? Yes. Is he an upgrade over Thibault? Yes. But, goaltending isnt our problem. Keith, we need the top line player more than we need Khabibulin. Period.
  17. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 03:18 PM) My personal favorite was the skit where black people got reparation checks. I thought that one was hilarious. I LOVED THAT ONE!!! KFC merged with some record label or something.
  18. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 10:07 PM) So Keith or Tony, fill me in here, is Ruutu currently slated to start the year at center or as a LW? Because here's some lineup scenarios at the moment with the top 6 forwards. Either way, Arny shouldn't start the year as the #1 center. 1 - Daze - Ruutu - Bell 2 - Calder - Arnason - ??? 1 - Ruutu - ??? - Calder 2 - Daze - Arnason - Bell Oh and the Modano deal includes a No - Trade Clause. That maybe could have been the holdup, besides the extra money his agent wanted. I know you said Tony and Keith, but I'm here first, he's a winger from now on. He may center some ST and maybe fill in a game or so but for the most part he'lll be a wing.
  19. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 07:19 PM) You think Karpotsev and Korolev are looking for work? Hell, let's bring back the whole gang -- screw Khabibulin, let's get Passmore! f*** PASSMORE, Jimmy Waite and Jeff Hackett!!!
  20. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) And, I'll defer any questions about Spacek to Tom. Uh, Tom? (nudge nudge ) Well Keith, Spacek is a good skater, decent sized, can shoot well. AND positions himself extremely well in his own end. I think he plays a little bigger than he is and he's a steady #3 or 4. Good sign, not a great one. We need a goal scorer, Khabibulin is not the answer (it would be nice, but he isnt the answer).
  21. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 03:49 PM) Jesus, Oilers just got Peca from the Islanders. I dont like that, I would rather have York, Brewer and Woywitka than Peca and Pronger. But that's just me.
  22. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 03:32 PM) Well, compare him to Carlos Lee. Lee made a BS play in shich he didn;t hustle and cost the team. Some speculate that was the main reason he was traded. Look how he turned out? I like the guy and I respect yours and Keiths opinions. If you read the rest of my post, I clearly state that I would want Naslund way more thank Kovalev... Um, costing your team in the playoffs faking an injury is a little different than not sliding hard into second. Kovalev let his whole team down in the playoffs. There is no comparison. In this sport, you're supposed to be tough and play through pain, no offense to the baseball players and what not, but this isnt a sport where a contusion sits you for a month. Kovalev actually made me feel embarassed.
  23. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 12:44 AM) God I love Kovalev. :headshake :puke :puke :puke :puke :puke :puke I have no respect for Kovalev. He is a b****. I remember I was at Keiths house watching the Bruins and the Habs in the playoffs when he faked like he got slashed, gave up the puck and the B's scored to win. :fyou Kovalev
  24. After having talked with Craig Anderson the past two days it seems like Yawney really wants to give he and Leighton chances to prove themselves. I really don't see the Bulin Wall making his way to the UC, although I wouldn't mind it.
