QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 10:27 PM) So what other #1 centers are out there we can sign if we do miss out on Modano? Forsberg's a fantasy, Pavol Demitra signed with the Kings and Bobby Holik with the Thrashers. I've heard Alexei Zhamnov be rumored, but I can't see Tallon bringing him back. And if we're in need of a good winger, Alexei Kovalev, Andrew Brunette, John LeClair, Paul Kariya, Teemu Selanne are still available. Also Tony Amonte got a $3.7 million deal for 2 years from the Flames. Not a bad price at all for them. IMO, Brunette is the only one that I think would fit in with the hawks. The rest are either too old or too big of pussies to play for Yawns. Also, I dont think you meant to lump Holik in with #1 centerman... -

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) Haha, I agree. But when he is, he can definitely help out the Bruins. That goes without saying... I think you're overrating him a bit, he's a 3rd liner at best, and average one. 100 PIMs and 25 points is what youre looking at. Also brutal on special teams. I don't know how much that's gonna help. -

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 03:35 PM) Still a sold deal. Veteran presence who'll get you some points here and there. Plus, all they gave up was a 4th round pick. You can't be a veteran presence if you aren't in the lineup. -

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 03:20 PM) Yeah. He was a good winger with the Islanders before he went to Edmonton. Why do you ask??? No reason, but no, he is oft injured and never really was anything special. A poor man's Bobby Holik, minus FO%. 20/20 one year, nothing special. -

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 03:06 PM) Hell yeah. They would be stacked with Neuiwendyk, Roberts, Palffy, and Jokinen. I think Luongo is very underrated at gaolie too. Luongo isnt underrated at all LOL. He gets his props for being the best goalie on what was a bad team. Probably one of the top three in the NHL. By no means was he underrated. and not to sound like a jagoff, but do you have any idea who Isbister is? -

Yuck, both were part of the elder skatesmen Laffs last season. I wouldn't want either of those guys, both are about to crumble. -

http://chicagoblackhawks.com/news/news.asp?story_id=2872 There's the link, I'm pretty happy with this signing. Maybe he can show Babs a few things about how to use that slapshot. -
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 08:24 PM) He doesnt really lead the team..... and I dont think the players really look at him as the leader like Manny or Schilling.... With Sweeney partly because of him being such a great guy and part because he is on a very young team i bet everyone in the KC clubhouse looks up to him. There have been multiple articles on Varitek in SI and ESPN the Mag about how great of a leader Tek is and what he does to prepare that team for games. He is THE leader on that team.

Never gonna happen, a top tier centerman who's in his early-mid twenties will not be let go by any team. -

Aucoin is an upgrade over Berard, no doubt about it. He isnt as good of a skater as Berard and can't rush the puck up ice, but he does have a 95+ MPH slap shot, is decent sized, and positions himself well in his own end. -

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 10:23 PM) I'm perfectly fine with letting Berard go. There are a bunch of guys out on the market that can run the power play, and play better in our end. Berard was a terrible guy in our own zone. I realize he's an offensive defenseman, but if we can get a guy like aucoin or rafalski who's better in the defensive end and still has the offensive spark, that'd be great. Guys like Aucoin or Rafalski are coveted players and it's not like the Hawks can say, well lets just go get a top tier defenseman with great offensive skills. Berard is what he is, and if paired with the right type of D-man (Vandermeer), he would probably thrive. -

I dont like not offering Berard. He was a sparkplug for the power play and really was a solid offensive defenseman. I'm kinda pissed at Tallon for this. :headshake -

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 08:47 AM) You might be misinterpreting what he meant. He meant in the little time I get into a game I managed to f*** up big time. Thats how I took it as.

QUOTE(soxhawks @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 10:08 PM) i hate both of these guys

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 09:20 PM) They signed Eric Cairns. Yuck, Cairns is one of those pricks that tries to start a fight with everyone. NO skills whatsoever. At least some players like McCabe and McCarty have(had) offensive skills when at the top of their game. Cairns just takes penalties.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers? Maybe that's similar to Hendrix and the experience. Otherwise this band takes it for me

I've heard that Joe Thornton has rejected a lowball offer from the Bruins... I don't think he's happyin in B-town and I think Tallon should send whatever it takes to get Joe here. EDIT: VERY WISHFUL THINKING -
QUOTE(lord chas @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 10:05 AM) wills was garbage Is there a reason for that? I always liked Wills and I got to meet him once after a game, great guy and I miss the "NEEEXXXT". Hopefully he gets sick of the Rays and comes back...

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 07:42 AM) I would like to get Pavol Demitra, He is a hella player and he always kills the Hawks... not that its saying much though... I always heard he carried around alot of baggage. He seems like one of those whiny star type players. -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 02:14 PM) How about Miroshlav (sp -- know I f***ed that up) Satan? He's only 30 years old, and seems to have settled into a nice little niche of 25-35 goals a year, around 60 points. I don't have much of a recollection of seeing him play, but since '97, the least amount of games in a season he's played is 79. I think all of us hockey fans would chuckle a little bit inside if he signed with New Jersey... Keith, he can flat out fly. One of the fastest skaters I've ever seen and I wouldnt mind him here, although I think he's basically a second line talent playing on a first line in Buffalo. -

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 12:47 PM) yeah, no one wants a legitimate perrenial Art Ross contender... that would suck. Some players are a little soft, but that doesn't mean they can't score. Yeah, so perrenial that he's scored 100 points twice in 10 years. The last time coming last century. A perennial Art Ross contender, like Jagr for instance, should average more than 70 points like Kariya. Jagr averages 93. Kariya would not be welcomed by me to the Hawks. Gretzky was a better player than Kariya hands down. and Gretzky wasn't as soft as you make him sound considering in 20 years there were only 3 seasons in which he failed to play more than 70 games. Kariya has had 4 seasons like that not counting his rookie year. -
I just sent a helluva email about it. He's gonna hear from me.
