This shouldn't take long at all.

The 2011 Torture Sox can't even LOSE the right way

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 08:10 PM) Yeah. Because we could have watched Posey's career bust. Haha indeed. We'd have screwed up whoever we took in the 2008 draft anyways, regardless of how high the pick was. -
QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 08:33 PM) But in the end I would put them both on waivers. Just to see. Well that'll happen. Just about everybody is put on waivers.

QUOTE (Paulstar @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 08:32 PM) Unfortunately, over the past 3 or 4 years, I honestly don't think there has been a worse GM in all of baseball. I really can't think of more than maybe 2 or 3 GM's worse than Kenny or more than 2 or 3 managers worse than Ozzie the last 3 years.

Dunn and Rios hitting 4th and 5th for a team with a payroll over 120 million dollars is an all-time example of the great combination of poor general managing and poor managing the White Sox have.
-
Dunn had absolutely no shot there. Men against boys.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 08:14 PM) Line drive hitters are not bad things, however you expect line drive doubles hitters to drive it into the gaps quite a bit. Not just make outs or hit singles only. If you're going to go away from power hitters, especially as an AL team and DOUBLE especially as an AL team in a hitters park, you'd better have A TON of on base percentage in your lineup as well as at least a decent amount of speed. This team doesn't have the speed to pull off such a plan and REALLY doesn't have the OBP to.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 08:13 PM) Talking about his approach at the plate in the majors. You do always make it sound like he was some huge power prospect, even though a lot of people were skeptical he'd ever be able to hit for power in the majors IIRC. Everything I ever read about Morel while he was in the minors said great glove, but not nearly enough power to play 3rd everyday in the majors.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 08:08 PM) Thank you! It's truly pathetic how we get no power at all from our catcher, third baseman, left fielder and center fielder. Power reliant means you'll have your days when the well is dry, but at least it means you'll have your days when the well is full. We almost never seem to put up huge games anymore offensively.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 08:03 PM) runner in scoring position with one out means a K Beats the double plays we saw earlier.
-
I would think Peavy is done for the night. Actually ended up pitching a good game after the slow start. If only we could score again somehow.
-
Peavy throws a hanging breaking ball with directions written on it up there, and it's an infield pop fly. I think the Yankees are just bored right now.
-
Alexei has C.C.'s number tonight.
-
Some pretty hard hit balls that inning, but fortunately they just led to outs. Can't wait for Peavy to be out there again in the 7th.
-
Swisher looking like he still plays for Ozzie Guillen with that stupid play/lack of hustle. Great stop by Alexei.
-
If we're not the worst fundamental team in baseball, we're VERY close. How does our manager still have a job, again?
-
I hate bunting.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 07:28 PM) Isn't it only one more year? Yes, at 17 million. There's a 22 million dollar team option for 2013, but I have a hunch the team won't pick it up.
-
Hmm, maybe the fact that it was only the 5th inning saved us there. Don't push your luck and send him out for the 6th.
-
Wow, Alexei crushed that one. Nice to see a pitcher pay for a mistake against us.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 07:08 PM) I was thinking the opposite, as Petco is just a pitcher's heaven and the AL adjustment seemed like it would be hard for Peavy. I agree, but I think Peavy's issues have nothing to do with the ballpark or even league adjustment. His stuff just isn't anywhere close to what it was during his San Diego days.
-
Between the bunt and the double play, that was an impressively stupid inning. Even by White Sox standards.
-
I would say I hope Kenny gets nervous and fires Ozzie to try and save this season (and maybe his job) sometime in the near future, but who knows if he's even allowed to fire Ozzie.
-
Everything Peavy throws is getting hammered tonight.
-
Great at bat right there by A.J. after our first hit. These guys are really into the game tonight.
