  1. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 09:17 PM) He could be a 4 or 5 easy IMO. He looks like a consistent 4th starter for me. Which I think is a fine return for what we gave up. Valverde is never going to blow a save again. Missed losing it by about 5 feet tonight, too.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 09:12 PM) How did he look tonight? I'm becoming convinced he can be a solid long-term guy at the bottom of the rotation.
  3. Excellent swing from Gordon there.
  4. Well, good job by Ohman to preserve the quality start for Stewart and keep us in the game (assuming Chen is done, of course).
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 09:05 PM) He'll be let go so quickly if Ozzie goes elsewhere I hope you're right, that'd be a relief. I've seriously become convinced he's untouchable.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 09:01 PM) His punishment is sure to be a bullpen trip. I'd say in Ozzie's mind, a bullpen trip, allowing these inherited runners to score, and 5 more starts for Rios is a fair punishment for Stewart.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 08:58 PM) So yeah, this is still a really good outing by Stewart. At least he's getting an accurate preview of what pitching a good game for us is normally like in terms of run support.
  8. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 08:56 PM) makes me laugh because i dont think anything can get walker fired! He's bulletproof. He'll be here after Ozzie and Kenny are gone. I'm even madder at him than I am Alex Rios tonight, even with him leaving the bases loaded twice.
  9. Our performance this year against Bruce Chen alone is a fireable offense for Greg Walker. Not that such a thing would ever happen in this organization.
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 01:27 PM) He's lost alot of weight this offseason. He's going to be a monster again this year. With a face up game. And pretty sure he was joking about the 6'5" comment. While Sullinger is obviously an outstanding college player, you're basically the Ohio State version of Baghdad Bob, so I'll wait and see on the bolded. I always thought Sullinger was closer to 6'6 or 6'7, but 6'5 wouldn't shock me.
  11. Jared Sullinger said he's 6'5 on twitter today. Which means he'll be the first fat 6'5 power forward to get picked in the top 5 since Charles Barkley. Although, was he even fat coming out of college?
  12. The only way I wouldn't make Sale a starter is if Danks and Buehrle are both here next season. And I don't see any way that happens.
  13. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 02:14 PM) Sadly, this guy agrees: http://www.cnn.com/2011/OPINION/08/11/moor....html?hpt=hp_t2 That is, by far, the most overdramatic thing I've ever read on CNN. I bet the author was one of those guys who said he'd move to Canada if Bush was re-elected in 2004.
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 01:38 PM) It will never F*CKING end will it? I'm not even going to make the claim that it's fair. But, regardless of what anybody says in his defense, until/unless Jay Cutler wins a Super Bowl, his career will be defined by that moment.
  15. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 11:06 AM) Clay Matthews played the second half of last season with a stress fracture in his lower leg. Hopefully he stays healthy all year. Pretty crazy to think a star player can actually play through a serious injury on his way to a championship.
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 01:29 PM) PGA Champ. started today. Tiger was -3 thru 5, finished +7. The epic fall continues. My guy Stricker in the lead right now. There are so many people who get upset at this statement, but I think Tiger is done winning majors. He might have one last swan song a la Jack in 1986, but that's about it. I say that partly due to the off the course stuff, but more due to all of his injuries catching up with him.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 08:14 PM) I do agree that the game was over before that homer...you figured one of their hitters would run into a pitch sooner than later. Some really awful at bats by Konerko, Beckham and Dunn with RISP towards the end of the game. Also, no more of this pulling Quentin BS in the 8th inning of a tie game. I can't stand that. The game was tied when he was pulled too, which makes it especially bad IMO. No lead to protect, or need for speed to try and come from behind.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 08:09 PM) Jackson would look pretty good in our rotation right now Blah. He's just a guy. People always overrate him though, which is why he keeps getting traded for. We lost tonight because we didn't take advantage with 1st and 3rd for our best hitter in the 7th and 2 on, nobody out in the 8th. Frasor hasn't been good, but really, we lost the game before he gave up that homer.
  19. This is starting to have the we're not scoring unless it's on a home run feel to it.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 07:55 PM) Some ugly swings by PK tonight I was going to say he looks lost tonight. He does have a single and RBI groundout though. It's good to be good.
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 03:46 PM) Most would get applauded for saying something like... "I was in Denver, not a huge market, came to Chicago and haven't really [sought out] a lot of marketing opportunities because we haven't accomplished what I want to on the field yet. Until we get to the Super Bowl, win Super Bowls and are successful there, then I don't think it's right for me to go out there and venture into those other markets." Yet Cutler's a bad, bad boy. God I hope he dominates this year. And by that I mean, God I hope the O-Line resembles an O-Line more than Swiss cheese this year. I really don't think anybody feels Jay Cutler lacks the talent to be a franchise quarterback, or that he's a bad guy at all. He just seems to lack basically everything you'd expect a franchise QB for a charter franchise to have outside of raw talent. Really, that article touched on a lot of those things. Maybe he'll be a trendsetter, and become an elite, champion QB despite being by and large aloof. Stranger things have happened.
  22. I'd be pretty surprised if it's not the Chargers that end up in Los Angeles.
  23. No chance you send Humber out for the 7th. 95 pitches through 6, 11 hits allowed, 4-5-6 due up for them, and a long top of the 7th.
  24. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 06:58 PM) I'm not familiar with this "baseball" team that is playing the Orioles. This team has been up and down all year, but they've just looked different this last week than at any other time. 2 out hits, coming from behind, scoring runs. Bizarre.
  25. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 06:54 PM) This team is playing some inspired baseball now. Once we come back and win this division, Ozzie has to be a candidate for MOY. :lolhitting
