  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 08:03 PM) The good news is that we played for 1 run in the first so we didnt get to him early.
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 07:59 PM) f***ing unbelievable. The one day our pitching lays a giant egg, they decide to start hitting. Burnett probably let up a bit, but still WTF. Haha it makes perfect sense with this team.
  3. It's rather incredible when a team puts up 5 runs in the 4th inning and still trails by a touchdown and PAT.
  4. Games like this get people fired in most organizations.
  5. I can't think of a person in sports I'm more amazed has their job right now than Greg Walker.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 06:57 PM) You want Ozzie to have his chance with them? We can't keep them in the minors just because our GM isn't allowed to fire our manager. Especially since the season is headed into the tank, if it's not there already.
  7. QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 06:55 PM) Can we call up Zach Stewart and see what he's got please Yep. Addison Reed too, whenever he's ready. Viciedo obviously. Hector Santiago.
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 06:51 PM) Last off-season they didn't seem that cheap? They were actually respectable last season, 11th in payroll I believe. Even so, I can't help but say WTF when I see them behind the Jacksonville Jaguars in spending during an uncapped year.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 05:17 PM) With the holes this team has, and the payroll they have now, they are cheap as hell if they don't start spending. I really don't see how anybody could say the Bears AREN'T cheap. There's far too much evidence out there against such an argument. I will say that it'd have been almost impossible for them to fill all or most of their holes this summer with as many as they have though. So, if they are going to gradually increase spending and attempt to fill holes that route, I get the logic behind it.
  10. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 11:50 AM) Giants rescind permission for Osi Umenyiora to seek a trade Or, in other words, they couldn't get a 1st round pick for him and were tired of listening to Osi tell them they should trade him for a 2nd.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 10:58 AM) He is pretty good. I still think his mechanics are going to be his undoing as his shoulder tears apart. Couldn't agree with this more. As much as I like Hudson, his mechanics look terrible.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 11:19 AM) Especially if they can make use of a guy or two on special teams (they'll need to now that Davis is gone) I'd just assume they'd carry 6. Sam Hurd will probably be the Rashied Davis replacement, he's known for being a very good special teams player. The Bears didn't carry 6 WR's out of camp last year, but I know they did at least the 2 seasons before that though. I like Sanzenbacher, and would have no problem with him making the team outright.
  13. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 11:26 AM) When he is making 400K less than Jonathan Toews that seems strange to me. I love Sharpy, but that is more than I would have committed to him. Slightly over $5 million seems more reasonable. Those were all signed in late 2009 though. Just in the 20 months or so since then, the salary cap has gone from 56.8 to 64.3. By the time Sharp's contract kicks in next season, it'll probably be a couple/few million higher than it is now. Realistically, Kane and Toews would be around the low to mid 7 million range if signing extensions now.
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 11:12 AM) I mean, we didn't need a rucker park performance to know durant is awesome, but the atmosphere is fun to watch. That's what makes Rucker great. The atmosphere is always awesome, but especially when the big names are there.
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 11:05 AM) $5.9 million annual cap hit. Sounds a tiny bit high, but if he keeps up what he has been doing, will be worth it. He was at 3.9, and will be this season obviously. I was thinking the new paper would be in the 5 to 5.5 range, so I'd agree 5.9 is a bit high. It's not too bad though. With the market like it is now, he'd have probably got something in the 6's on the open market if he performs to his standards this season.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 10:54 AM) She pretty damn hot, although it wont last long. You know that was the "public appearance" he had to give her in order to keep banging her in private. I'm sure she f***s like a machine. Haha she's about typical for what an athlete of his calibur is pulling, I would assume. And it's almost guaranteed that you're dead on about the public appearance and machine comments.
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 10:31 AM) Apparently my boy Sanzenbacher has been impressing coaches with his hands and route running. I think he'll see the field quite a bit this season. I don't think he'll make the team unless they carry 6 WR's. They've done it in the past though, so it's certainly possible. As is the practice squad.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 08:52 AM) Where is the highlight of Bulls guard John Lucas dropping 60? "I am......on the bench" I love Rucker Park and Kevin Durant, but Lucas dropping 60 shows just how meaningful Durant's 66 were (not very).
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 10:48 AM) I dont thnk so at all. And being that she is a latina, not sure where the Jessica Simpson references above come from. She seems to have the adult film star look going. I don't think she looks fake though, other than the boobs obviously.
  20. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 10:38 AM) Looks like Sharp is sticking around on a new 5 year deal. No link yet. http://blackhawks.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=585674 Not a surprise at all, but still great to see it done. Outside of Ben Smith being a RFA who could be a bit expensive if he has as good a year as some of us think he could, there really aren't any FA issues for next summer now. It's just the 1 year contract guys brought in this summer and John Scott, who will all be UFA's.
  21. In terms of our chances to make the playoffs, count me out. I'll be watching, but I think I won't have anything White Sox to watch in October (again).
  22. I'm honestly convinced that even if Ozzie AND Kenny are fired after this season, Greg Walker will somehow be our hitting coach in 2012. He's bulletproof!
  23. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 08:30 PM) Webb, actually, doesn't suck. I mean yeah he did to start the year, but he was very raw. He was a big-time high school recruit and went to Texas but lost his academic eligibility, so he transferred to a small school and didn't face D-1 competition so never got refined. Now he has proper coaching. He really started to improve as last year went on and started to find himself. The tools and pedigree are there (I think it's his cousin, his cousin is Richmond Webb, who was an All-Pro lineman for the Dolphins). So yeah, he was drafted in the 7th round, but we're not talking about a scrub. We're talking about a guy who needed some time, some conditioning, and some quality coaching. So if I had to guess, I'd say the line to start the season will be Webb-Williams-Spencer-Garza-Carimi. That's actually not bad, and is better than last year. The difference here is that most of the guys are young, athletic, BIG, and on the right side of 30. Everyone likes to hate Chris Williams because he hasn't amounted to s*** as a tackle, but he's not bad as a guard. He's a big guy, and really MOVES. It wasn't a coincidence that all of a sudden the Bears started running the ball after the bye week last year. That was when Williams moved to the inside and Garza came back from surgery. Everybody kind of retroactively credits this to Lovie, or whoever, sitting Martz down and saying "run the ball" but this is an overly simplistic way of looking at it... before that Forte was getting like 1.5 yards a carry, and all of a sudden it skyrockets to about 4.5 yards a carry or something. Because he was getting holes and it started working. Not because Martz said "ok, I'll just keep running these s***ty plays for no gain" I agree with most of this. The one point I disagree with is Webb. I mean, you're right he was a big time HS guy and is young enough to get better. However, I just don't see it. My thoughts on him really aren't related to the round he was picked in either, I just don't like what I see watching him. I've been wrong many times before though. I actually think Spencer will be a modest upgrade over Olin, and that Williams at guard will be solid this year. I really like 3/5 of the offensive line this year though (not a Garza fan either), and think it will be improved. I just have a ton of concern about Garza and especially Webb, which is why I'd give McKinnie a call or 7. I'm glad Tatupu and the Bears have talked, and would hope they also call the Giants about Osi.
  24. I don't see why this wouldn't be Mrs. Teahen. It makes me kind of sad that things didn't work out ideally for Mark in Chicago, because he was one of the easiest to like players we had on the team between his personality, charity work, and family emphasis. And I think some of us, this season, are beginning to realize such things are actually of importance in most cases. As somebody who has basically dated tall and athletic women exclusively in his life, I would have to say I strongly disagree with Oney's thoughts on Mrs. Teahen's appearance. Anyways, good luck in Toronto. It's a franchise that is headed in the right direction, and a beautiful city.
