  1. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 09:20 AM) As a lifelong fan of almost all things Chicago (f the Cubs) this is how I feel about Detroit. I don't know if I could root for one of their teams if my life depended on it. Agreed, although if it came down to it, if we're in, I'd rather see Detroit get in as well than the Boston/NY loser in the AL East.
  2. I'll be there tonight, and it's definitely a sell out. I believe tomorrow is just about sold out as well, however Wednesday and Thursday are both games that will need a good walk up to keep the streak alive.
  3. QUOTE(Zoogz @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 07:24 AM) Hey you guys... congratulations on a well-earned sweep. I know that the trash-talking takes place elsewhere, but this Tigers fan would like to give as much credit as possible to a Sox team that hunkered down and was able to take care of business and take some well-earned games from the Tigers. It is only halfway through August, and anything can happen. I'm still rooting for the Tigers to get to the playoffs, but I must admit that the Sox make me that much more nervous. Especially with another seven (?) games left. Keep the faith, you guys! You know what your Sox team can do. While they may slump at times, this lineup always has the potential to be dynamic and the rotation may have bad outings but they're still good and pretty consistent with that. Good luck, and let's both shut out the AL East from the playoffs, eh? Hey!! Well said....and the AL East will be shut out....oh it will be indeed. ESPN will never be the same.
  4. QUOTE(S720 @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 08:34 PM) If my recollection has not failed me, I seem to remember there are two pitchers on our team that also used "tipping pitches" as excuse - Contreras last year and Beurhle this year. Verlander's tired arm still put out 97mph heat. I am not sure the reason why you are writing this! Yeah, and if we were using those excuses, it was a bunch of crap too. I'm just tired of people saying that it's always something other than bad when a pitcher sucks, excuses are just too easy to fall back on.
  5. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines Gimme a freaking break Leyland. We've torched this guy 3 times now, the worst of which was at your place, he has tired arm, and yet we can't have hit him hard, but rather we knew what was coming?? Please, lemme guess we got lucky to sweep your great team too right?
  6. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 07:18 PM) Who is Edwardo Sierra, A 24 year old right handed pitcher from the Dominican Republic. He's 6'4, 195 pounds.
  7. Cardinals when the Reds take the Central.
  8. If we take care of buisness and beat the fishing Royals, we gain ground on somebody everyday, which is good news.
  9. I don't know what got into Ozzie the last 2 games, actually managing the bullpen right and putting our best team on the field, using pinch runners and defenders right late in games, etc.....but hopefully he keeps it up too.
  10. They are getting nervous, you can see it right down to that bum Pudge getting kicked out over a slider down the middle. THE HEAT IS ON.
  11. DETROIT SUCKS!! DETROIT SUCKS!! DETROIT SUCKS!! DETROIT SUCKS!! We should buy a damn leash because we own these a-holes. SWEEPAGE, 70 WINS, THIS DIVISION AIN'T OVER HELL YEAH!! /Nuke
  12. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 01:20 AM) This is kind of ironic to me and I'll let you guys figure out why. Hmm, I'm not sure. I'm sure I said something though, or maybe it's because he's a BP type player?? I dunno, but Dunn is a monster at the plate and constantly on base. At the plate, he's Thome without the average.
  13. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 11:39 PM) Yes I said it, and it's due to BP and over stat rags creating stats like EqA and using BABIP as an excuse for his crappy average. I saw him play in cincy, and he was terrible. The fans were (suprisingly) all over him (kind suprised because their scoreboard shows OBP and SLG%.) One poster here called him one of the top ten "hitters" of the game. The fact that someone would make that claim makes him very overrated. He'd rather try to get a walk than knock in a run. You don't have to swing for the f***ing river every time you're at the plate. He can't defend, but if your going to diss Adam Dunn at the plate, you really don't watch baseball. We played Dunn when he was playing his worst ball of the year, and now he's great in every offensive category except average (and .260 isn't too terrible).
  14. Stewie will be a fine backup catcher next year, and hopefully Owens doesn't get at bats, only pinch running chances.
  15. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 11:43 PM) Better careers, Preston Wilson. That said, for there roles I think those guys are better role/bench players. I'm not against the idea of Preston Wilson, but its one thing to just say he could play off the bench and its another for him to come here and be willing to do so. You got to have a positive attitude about it and I don't think he would. Yeah I'm aware of it, which is why we probably won't see him here. And Jose Cruz. btw, USED to be better than Wilson, not now though. Ick.
  16. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/foot...k.ap/index.html Interesting verbage in this article.....
  17. Girardi will end up traded to the Cubs for a couple prospects this offseason IMO.
  18. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 11:36 PM) At what? Baseball. Although with the year Mack is having, you could debate it. But he's better than Ozuna and Pods easily.
  19. He's better than Mack, Ozuna, and Pods. And Jose Cruz Jr. effin blows. I'm in on this, although the avatar gives it away obviously.
  20. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 04:57 PM) I must say that one of my favorite parts of the game is how Ozzie managed the bullpen today. He actually let them win a darn game for us. I was very freakin impressed. Good Job, Oz. AMEN!! He finally seemed to get it today.
  21. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 03:08 PM) All winning tomorrow does is cut the deficit to 5 1/2 games. With them heading to Boston and us hosting KC for 4 games....hence tomorrow is HUGE.
  22. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 03:05 PM) Really? I think we pitched pretty well. Sandy's clutch sac fly has to count as something, too. We did pitch well, but our offense really wasn't there, we didn't turn that double play, and Mark fell apart after the failed potential DP to give up the 3 runs. We weren't bad, but really we didn't deserve that game. HOWEVER, like I said I'll take it. Detroit has won a ton of games they shouldn't this year, way more than we have. The thing, in fact, that makes me feel so good right now is we've won 2 games this week we shouldn't because good teams (Yanks, Tigers) gave us chances and we did enough to take advantage. Us getting the breaks and us also taking advantage of them is vintage 2005 Sox.
  23. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 03:05 PM) You don't have to hope. Ozzie's not dumb. I disagree with this statement, however Ozzie DOES know how big tomorrow is, so you won't get the B lineup.
  24. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 03:03 PM) What a game. We're startin' to get those breaks again. I almost felt bad for Rogers out there. His defense straight molested him today. Buehrle was brilliant. If not for Uribe, Buehrle probably throws a complete game shutout. He was that good. And how 'bout that Brian Anderson? God I love him. Between that hit today and the 9th inning homers, he has shown he's not afraid to come up with a big hit.
  25. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 03:01 PM) If we get good pitching, no one will stop us. I've said it all year, but I'm yet to be convinced that the good pitching is there yet. Baby steps though and they are making some strides. The ridiculous performance of the pen today was super sweet though. I'm not worried about the pen unless Cotts is in to be honest, they are good. However if we get good pitching, we'll win tomorrow and win 3 of 4 at Detroit, hence me saying that senario will lead to me saying we'll win the division. Detroit's offense can't hold our offense's jock strap, so if we get pitching from the starters to go with our pen, they are in deep do do.
