AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Other than the clutch hit by Anderson, we didn't do much of anything to deserve a win today. BUT I'LL TAKE IT, now finish the damn sweep tomorrow for once and we'll be at 70 wins and be back in this race (somehow).

The Marlins...Again!
QUOTE(Wedge @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 09:49 AM) Joe Girardi is one helluva manager Believe it or not, if you ask a Marlin fan, most would agree they'd have more wins if Girardi wasn't such a bad in game manager.

ST Poll: Who's the most clutch player on the Sox?
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 10:56 PM) I bet you're being sarcastic. Just a hunch though. Wow, your good. Although Crash did have the game winning hit in the 14th tonight for the Phillies.

Minnesota Twins Post Mortem Playoff Thread
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 08:16 PM) My post was more of a subtle insult directed towards our pitching prospects. But since Garza was practically destroyed ( 2.2IP, 8H, 7ER, 2 BB, 2 SO, 2 HR), I can't complain. It honestly shocks me to read his line. He must have been nervous as hell on the mound. Or maybe it takes more than great stuff to get people out. Nah, that can't be it, our scouts are clueless.

ST Poll: Who's the most clutch player on the Sox?
It's a good thing Thome hit that meaningless add on homer tonight, just padding his deceptive stats as usual. Dude sucks, I wish we could trade him for Aaron Rowand. He's blue collar and fixes a hole in the outfield.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER
Verlander against us this year: 13.2 IP, 16 R, 27 H, 0-3 He's 14-2 against everybody else, but damn we own him. And his stuff didn't look as crisp tonight, especially as the game went on. I'm concerned about him in terms of September and October if I'm a Tigers fan.

Midseason Top 20 coming soon
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 04:50 PM) The list should be released pretty soon. Maybe I can talk Jason into revealing the list on the next Soxtalk podcast and getting it up soon. BTW, the 4 of us stood differently on Boone. I was probably the highest on him of anybody. Great to hear. As for Sweeney in LF next year, I think it's a matter of whether we think he needs another year in the minors or not. I think if we think he's ready, you might see him in LF next year, but if not we might just wait until Dye is gone, give Sweeney more seasoning, and put him in RF in 2008. I can't wait to see him either way, and there will be spots opening up for him to get a shot at playing everyday.

Proof that Umps hosed us in Yanks series
I am just annoyed by stupid fans in general. There should be some baseball IQ test given before your allowed in the park (unless of course your a young kid still learning the game).

Who, in your opinion is...
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 12:51 PM) My underrated player would be Chris Capuano oh how I love him so. I truely believe if you get this guy out of Milwaukee he'll be even better than he already is, anyone who can put up a 132:31 K:BB has a place in my rotation. Ahhh damn I knew I forgot to mention somebody. That guy is spectacular, and besides being a lefty that has an incredible K/BB ratio, he has that great pickoff move so he eliminates stolen bases and can make it hard to even hit and run. That is, when runners actually do get on base on him.

ST Poll: Who's the most clutch player on the Sox?
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 01:34 PM) Yes like when he took Johan Santana deep in the bottom of the 6th earlier this year when he was dominating the Sox' offense, when he picked up the only hit off Anthony Reyes in a 1-0 win in late June or his pinch hit HR to tie the game at PNC earlier this year. Hell, he had one of the biggest ABs of the series in game 1 Vs the yankees when he drew the crucial walk in the 11th to move the eventual winning run into scoring position. There's about 5-6 other HUGE HRs he's hit this year that I could also mention but I guess I'll just leave it at that. That's the problem though Kalapse, you and I (I agree with you) could never win this argument. People think clutch HAS to be very late in the game, with it tied or the team down, and that's it. A homer in the 5th or 6th can be clutch, or just as important, as one in the 9th to be honest. Plus, nobody will ever consider walks clutch. It's just an argument you can't win. Now obviously Thome isn't our best clutch hitter, but he's not this choking bum.

Proof that Umps hosed us in Yanks series
I have a serious question though. Now I don't boo the fake the 3rd, throw to 1st move since I know it's technically not a balk, however I thought part of the balk rule involves the term "deceiving the runner" (which is why somebody has to be holding on the runner at 1st for you to throw over there). So in that case, why isn't the fake to 3rd, throw to 1st move a balk?

Proof that Umps hosed us in Yanks series
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 12:54 PM) I'm just trying to figure out how basically no one at the park seemed to catch it. Fathom and I mentioned it right away in the game thread but I thought my eyes might have been deceiving me considering nobody on the Sox argued at all. I've been a die hard baseball fan in terms of watching the games since the 1993 team, I consider myself as knowledgable as most fans out there....and to be honest I have no damn clue what the balk rules even are, unless of course it's a play like with Buehrle when nobody is holding on the runner at 1st.

Proof that Umps hosed us in Yanks series
The Umps were bad, both teams were pretty bad.....it was just an ugly series. All 3 games also could have gone either way, so in a case like this you take your 2 wins out of 3 and move on happily.

To have any chance of winning the division...
Winning 2 out of 3 in this series would be very good for us and our confidence as we continue to gradually play better.......however if we want any shot at winning this division, we must sweep, end of story.

Top 3 web gems in White Sox history
Who cares about the order?? They got the 3 plays right at least, which is all that really matters IMO.
-
Who, in your opinion is...
Did somebody in this thread actually say Adam Dunn is overrated?? I'll just ignore that ignorance.....he's having an incredible season and without him, the Reds are probably 10 games under .500 instead of 4 over.

Top 3 web gems in White Sox history
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 12:16 AM) This team really needs more Aaron Rowand..... Yep, he's blue collar and hard working, just like ALL people from Chicago. His attitude fired up the team, kinda like Ditka did for the '85 Bears.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
BIG WIN. We played pretty bad all 3 games, so to get 2 of 3 from them despite that is huge. Detroit is coming in with a rare 2 game losing streak, maybe we caught them at a good time.

Good thing he didn't walk....if so, we'd have 2 walks tonight, and they would be by Crede and A.J. Hell freezing over would not be a good thing. 1st pitch groundout to 3rd for Joe, 2 outs.
