I don't know if this would go here, or if it even deserves it's own thread...but check out Steve Lavin's wife. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1706025/photogallery Damn! If he's avoiding coming back to coaching because of the low stress of being a broadcaster, and seeing THAT when he gets home, I don't blame him. WTG Steve.

Looking at the splits and overall numbers at AAA for him, as well as his age....I am interested. I know he's a starter at AAA, but is this a guy that could eventually help up the big club? I assume out of the pen based on the pitching we have and prospects as well....any info would be appreciated.

Should I make this trade?

Hell no, unless your desperate for OF/SP help and you have good middle infielders other than Young. -

I will say a healthy Suns roster would be damn good, but I also think it would play a lot better defense. Nash is a pathetic defender and that won't change, but Amare, Diaw, Kurt Thomas, and Bell are all plus defenders IMO. The Suns could win it all next year, but it would be because they can score AND will have guys that can play "D", like we are seeing with the Mavs this year. -
Official Get Jermaine Dye to start the ALL Star game Thread
whitesoxfan101 replied to rangercal's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Ozzie will bring the right guys to the all star game, so I have no worries about the voting stuff this year. The Yanks and Red Sox guys will win anyways due to fan base numbers, so no point in trying. -
Figured the timing was right to give this one a *bump* Make it 9 of 12 from the Fish after sweeping 3 at Coors against the somewhat decent Rockies. The rookie Jeremy Hermida (who was hurt) is now up to .286 to go along with a gaudy OBP after a nice day today, and 1B Mike Jacobs and CF Reggie Abercrombie are both gradually raising the batting averages after being around the medoza line for the first 6 weeks. Josh Willingham has been solid, Cabrera is sick, and they are getting great work from Dan Uggla and Hanley Ramirez at the top of the order, so the Marlins can hit. The key however is they are starting to get a little bit of pitching. 22 year old and 6'7, 240 lb Josh Johnson is 4-3 with a gaudy 2.42 ERA and 1.10 WHIP in 48 innings, Willis FINALLY had a very good start the other day, Joe Borowski has a low 4's ERA and 7 saves now, Scott Olsen has been adequate, and the Fish are getting improved bullpen work from Carlos Martinez (like Hermida, who was injured), Logan Kensing, Randy Messenger, and recently called up Taylor Tankersley, who has potential. How do I know so much? Well these guys are just so damn young and the talent is starting to shine, so I enjoy watching and following them. In a couple years, this group could be something, but in the meantime I expect to see them climb past hapless Washington (who has played well lately, but still blows IMO) and out of the NL East basement soon.

The Cards will be fine....the NL Central has began to prove the truth, which is....it f***ing sucks. However they need to watch the Reds, who are the one team that somehow continues to win and seems to have staying power. Hopefully Pujols gets well soon here though, but remember Carpenter returns in a few days here and Edmonds is now back, so the Cards are getting some pieces back as well, although nothing can replace Pujols.
-
In case people aren't paying attention, the Reds are apparently (to many a surprise, including me) no joke. They are only 3 behind the Cards after sweeping Houston at the Juice Box, and they now head to St. Louis for 3 against the Pujols-less Cards.

The Suns will never win it all with that style, you have to play at least SOME defense to win it all. Nice to see Detroit go down as well, new blood in the finals with Miami and Dallas and it should be a great series. -
I want that giant hat, and/or Fred McGriff to give me his "full endorsement". Greatest commercial ever, by far.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 10:59 PM) Patterson's OPS is 154 points lower . . . just throwing it out there. Yeah he's having a really good year, so I believe it. Just saying that moreso Patterson is doing up to his potential in Baltimore, but the Cubs had to dump him for nothing to get a guy with a .270's on base, no power, no arm, and a 6 million dollar salary (in a contract year)....and had to give up 3 high prospects to get him. Just amazing, he'd have never done this with the Cubs, which is more amazing as to how bad they are with young guys. s*** like this, not a "goat", is why they don't win. And why were you so nice there Kalapse? Something wrong? You should have said "Patterson's OPS is 154 points lower you dumbass".

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 07:42 PM) Teams like the White Sox put their money into the big league payroll but not always into the farm/other countries (some exceptions like Borchard) Umm you have heard of Carlos Lee and Magglio Ordonez right? They were both UNDRAFTED out of Panama and Venezuela and we developed them into pretty good players.
-
20 for 21 in steals? That's Carlos Beltran s*** right there, hell he's putting up better than Beltran numbers overall (and yes I know he's also having a very good year) for about 1/10th the price this year in Baltimore.

I like the Canes chances, with home ice and they are just good. Also, has a #8 seed ever won the whole thing? Would the Oilers be the first? -

2 awesome signs shown after the game on TNT: Sign #1: "Pin the tail on the Barkley" with a donkey that has Barkley's face attached Sign #2: "Suns bend over and take it in the NASH!" Sign #2 could be the clubhouse leader for "sign of the year" right now. -

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:37 PM) The Mavs are done. Mavs win by 16 as Dirk drops FITTY on the Suns sorry ass "defense". Suns might come back and force game 7 again, but this time it would be on the road if it happens, and I don't like the chances of a team in game 7 on the road that plays no defense. -
I KNOW the heart is there somewhere, there are too many guys from 2005 on this team again. The heart is there somewhere, the desire is there somewhere, the will is there somewhere, that "Ozzieball style" of fighting back is there somewhere. But damn we need to find it, we are losing game after game after game where we don't execute in close spots, or we have a lead and blows it, or we don't show up, or all of the above. It's not like we're showing up and playing as well and as hard as we can and getting beat like what happened so often last season, and that is what is killing me. I have tickets for each of the next 3 Saturday games coming up, and I don't even care if we win or not, I just want them to appear to give a s***, I just want them to execute basic plays like a damn bunt or not throwing a pitch that splits the center of home plate, please if your going to lose at least execute and make the other team beat you. That's all, the season isn't over and the Yankees have been kind to us, but I just wish we'd show some sort of fire and care, it's like corpseball has returned or something.

I'd take Wills, but I don't know if he'd leave Tampa.....

For some reason, that video made me think of the Chappelle's show skit and the line "IS WAYNE BRADY GONNA HAVE TO CHOKE A b****?!?!" What a bunch of attention whores, if you don't like the Cubs don't go to the park, the end.

6/1/06 Game Thread: White Sox @ Indians
whitesoxfan101 replied to Gregory Pratt's topic in 2006 Season in Review
I'm guaranteeing a win tonight. What does that mean? Well to be honest I have no f***ing clue what it means, but we are going to get this damn split, then come home and crack some skulls on this upcoming homestand. -
Only way I'd mess with it is if we can convince Pat Foley to jump on board. Otherwise, no thanks.

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 12:07 PM) The trade for Liriano and Nathan is quickly making it's way to the top of the "best trades off all time" list. No offense, AJ. Yep, and the Twins also got that Boof Bonser kid or w/e his name is that has been pretty good in a few starts for the Twins this year.

ST Poll: Which is the most pressing need for the White Sox?
whitesoxfan101 replied to aboz56's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Offensive execution in close games. The reason we've lost these games lately is we can't bunt or hit with men on base, and if we could several of these losses would be wins. The defense also needs to quit underachieving so badly. -
Who sits out during Interleague play?
whitesoxfan101 replied to The-Legend-Of-Pujols's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Thome can't be any worse in CF than Mack is defensively, so put him out there. (About 50/50 on if this should be in green).
