I give Oral Roberts credit, they have played hard and played well and are very talented. But Memphis is just too damn talented, and get not nearly enough respect from people. They are going to run Bucknell out of the gym.

I had SIU losing to Iowa in the 2nd round, lol.

G-Town with a BIG BIG win. I really needed that one, thanks a lot guys. -
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 02:45 PM) Damn you SIU...getting spanked a little. I smell Sweet 16 #2 going down. I got SIU too, but I had them losing to Iowa . The good news about this year is so far, even the teams that I pick wrong are mostly teams that I dont' have going too far. I'm sure that will change though, haha.

QUOTE(Goldmember @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 01:28 PM) Damn that's awesome.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 11:09 AM) ISU's whole coaching staff just announced as fired. Bring me Mike. Would he come to ISU? I would assume there is a significant chance the NCAA takes action against ISU because of this. -
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 02:06 PM) Take Alford off the list... Probably the case, unless the idiot boosters have more power than we think. Congrats on Alford not being the new coach!!

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 02:11 PM) The state of Louisiana strikes back. Hahaha good point, it would have been much more fitting had that ending happened with LSU as the opponent.

Iowa is sweet 16 victim #2 for me, still not doing too badly though

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 12:47 PM) E8. Same here, I have G-Town losing in the Elite 8 to Boston College. They GOTTA win today for me. -
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 02:02 PM) I don't see how one game affects Indiana's thinking. If he was the favorite 45 minutes ago. He's still the favorite now. Now that I'll agree with. It's interesting, no way in hell Alford is the favorite among the administration at Indiana, but he is among the boosters and fans. We'll see who is really running the program soon.
-
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 01:56 PM) They were 7.5 point favorites, and lost on a prayer at the buzzer. If you consider that one of the worst losses in school history, you're just showing your youth. And if you think losing a 3-14 game as a 3 isn't one of the worst losses in school history, your showing your denial.
-
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 01:50 PM) Krushers are the only fans dumb enough to rush the floor in a loss. And Iowa fans are the only ones dumb enough to come on a message board and be a smart ass after one of the worst losses in school history.
-
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 01:46 PM) WHY WHY WHY did i change from NW State at the last minute? Oh well, hopefully SIU can win against WVU and NW state DON'T CHANGE YOUR BRACKETS PEOPLE!! How many times do I gotta say that, first instinct is always the thing to stick with.
-
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 01:39 PM) LMAO...hang a banner in Carver Hawkeye for that one.
-
Wow, only Iowa could pull off something like that, but what an amazing shot!! That's Sweet 16 team #2 gone, but ah well. Iowa couldn't handle the pressure, the lack of athletes caught up to them.

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 10:53 AM) Interesting, Scout.com has Augustus listed as a senior. Is he going to have to go the prep school route or something? He re-classified and is going to prep school in Maine next year, but since Scout doens't update enough it hasn't pointed that out yet lol.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 09:15 AM) He still has the tools to be a great player.....I wouldnt just say The end like that. Now its foolish to expect him to ever reach that potential at this point but that doesnt change the fact its still there. I wouldnt mind him taking the Timo role who got a decent amount of playing time. See the last part of that I agree with. Unlike Timo, Borch can switch hit and hit for power. And Lord knows he can hit for a better average than Timo did last year, as well as play the field a lot better.
-
I really don't even want to consider the thought of Borchard platooning, because that implies he would get somewhat regular PT. He's a 25th man who is big, has a storm arm, can switch hit, and sometimes hit a ball 500 feet. The end.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 08:51 AM) The big one I picked was George Mason over Michigan State today. In retrospect, I shouldn't have done that, because MSU usually plays well in the tournament. Other then that I didn't have too many upsets today if I remember right. Most of my upset picks were yesterday and they happened, amazingly enough. Nah your cool dude. MSU will fall against UNC even if they beat George Mason, that's the best kind of upset pick you can make.
-
Kent State and Southern Illinois are my big upset picks today. And if Northwestern State beats Iowa, I'll be kicking myself for not having the balls to pick it.
-
QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 08:44 AM) the killer B's. Boone and Borchard. Don't even give Brooks any ideas.....I never want to hear that f***ing sound effect ever again.

I'm wearing my Green Jermaine Dye St. Patty's Day t-shirt and "I'm not Irish, but kiss me anyways" button in honor of the day. Have fun and stay safe everybody, especially our friends on the boards whom have Irish background.

The official Soxtalk 2006 predictions thread

The White Sox have a better team than last year, but will win less games and not win the divison. Despite this, the White Sox will make the playoffs. Jim Thome will have an OBP over .400, stay healthy, and hit 35 plus home runs. We will make at least 2 more trades this season, and 1 will involve Jose Contreras. Brian Anderson will be just as good defensively as Aaron Rowand, and still get all kinds of s*** from the fans. Anderson will also have a better batting average than at least 2 everyday players. And finally.....I will actually enjoy this season, since the pressure of 1917 is gone. LET'S GET THIS s*** DONE, GO SOX!!
