QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 08:54 PM) I guess this is why NBA GM's get paid to make these type of decisions. I'm sure they'll consider your scouting report posted on Soxtalk.com if they want to choose between Morrison, Gay or Thomas. They won't, but NBA GM's aren't exactly smart people if you look at some of the contracts POS big men have. Oh, and Redick is a CLUTCH player. In the 4 NCAA Tourney games Duke lost, Redick was: 2-16, 4-12, 4-14, 3-18 Now THAT is what an NBA team wants, a kid who comes up big in big games against tough opponents.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 08:49 PM) Wait, they play defense in the NBA? Piss poor athlete, so are a lot of white players. Is Matt Harpring a good athlete? He can still get his shot off in the NBA and he's not half the player Morrison is. Maybe he has stamina issues because he plays 40 mins a game and has people all over him all night. He will play the 3 in the NBA, he won't have to rebound all that much and should be able to get his shot off pretty well. A solid second option for a team, that's for sure. Yeah they actually do play defense in the NBA, unless of course you know, your team sucks (man I love that no defense in the NBA myth). And I'm not saying he's a poor athlete as in he's white, I'm saying he's a poor athlete as in he's a TERRIBLE athlete, regardless of what color his skin is. Matt Harpring is a triathlete compared to Morrison. Put Morrison at the 3 in the NBA and he's going to give up 30 to whoever he's guarding most nights since most teams have somebody at the 3 that can light it up, oh and they are 6'9 too so Morrison will have to actually create space in order to get a shot. I do agree with you that he won't have to rebound much, and he will have a decent NBA career....but he's not going to be nearly as good as a top 3 pick in terms of how he performs in the NBA.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 08:35 PM) Walker is very good, but Michael Beasley is the number 2 player in the class. He's a 6'8 230 pound SF/PF hybrid with insane athletecism. Charlotte got them a great one, pays off to recruit these kids really early, just in case. Hehe well who is #2 depends on which site you frequent . Beasley is definitely a great player, can't believe he's going to freaking Charlotte.

If you gave Gonzaga about tenfold better athletes, more depth, and they gave a s*** about defense, you have Memphis. I expect them to comfortably beat whoever wins the next game here and move on to the Final 4. UCLA is the team they should be more afraid of, they are very athletic and great on defense, and could give Memphis a great game. Morrison is going to have to score 45 and get help from Batista if they are going to beat Memphis, although to be fair let's point out he almost did that at Memphis earlier this year.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 08:43 PM) I disagree, Morrison is damn good. He can create his own shot, he is long and the dude is intense as they come. I mean all teams have done all year is focus on him and he's still dropping 30 on people. I wouldn't be so quick to assume that Rudy Gay or Thomas will be a better pro than he will be. Aldridge I think should be the top pick in the draft and has the best upside of any of them. Morrison is a pathetic defender, a piss poor athlete, a below average rebounder, and has major stamina issues. He does very well and is creative getting his own shot, but who the hell can block a 6'9 guy with long arms when he's shooting with a high release point in college?? He's a great college player, but his game doesn't translate at all to the NBA.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 08:42 PM) 2nd that. Yep. I may end up being wrong about Gonzaga, but I WILL NOT be wrong about Morrison. He is going to be a uber ultra mega bust.
-
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 08:40 PM) Morrison will be picked before Thomas. Gay, Aldridge and Morrison are going to be the top 3 IMO, just don't know the order yet. Thomas should be top 6 or 7 though. Correct, and whoever picks Morrison over Thomas, Gay, or Aldridge is going to be regretting it for a long time.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 08:37 PM) ^^^^^^^^^ I HAVE TO HAVE Texas tonight, it has to happen. Otherwise I am f***ed. I have Texas winning the region, but not many picked West Virginia or LSU to win this region. I'd rather have Texas win, but it's not essential. I had to have LSU win and I REALLY need BC and Georgetown to advance tomorrow. If I can get those 2 things to happen tomorrow, I should be really sitting pretty.
-
Memphis wins to advance to the regional championship game. Now it's about time to find out if I get a week vacation from here or not. I actually hope Gonzaga wins since they are a better matchup for Memphis than the stingy UCLA defense, and I picked Memphis to win the region.

LSU beating Duke as I predicted and the Memphis victory are a great start to this S16 for me.

QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 08:35 PM) LSU > Texas Book it. Maybe in football next year.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 08:34 PM) I like LSU against either, we shall see though. They would destroy WVU inside, and their defense would hold down that cute little 3 point contest offense WVU has. But if it's Texas.....Texas would beat LSU comfortably. I'd be surprised if Texas doesn't win by 10 plus tonight though, so is WVU wins tonight that proves I clearly don't have a clue, which is possible .
-
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 08:33 PM) Wait til the game is over to celebrate, bottom line. No worries, they won't get past the Texas/WV winner. If it's WVU they will. But Texas will win and beat LSU, so I agree with you.

J.J. Redick with his 4th annual choke in the dance to help Duke get ousted. Enjoy the NBA kid, there will be guys this good guarding you every night there.
-
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 08:30 PM) Wow, f*** LSU, can they not wait to celebrate? Jumping around like a bunch of (can't say it because it'd be politically incorrect). I can't wait til the Thomas guy gets his ass handed to him later in the dance. He was dancing around when there was still around a minute left. I don't like Duke either, but act like you've been somewhere LSU. Wait, you've never been anywhere. Umm....that's right. When you head into new territory, you celebrate. Sorry if beating Duke isn't quite enough for a team to get excited.

Yeah baby!! Maybe my best upset pick of the tourney to date, WTG LSU!!!

There should be a competition between Rex and Brian, but the amateur operation the Bears run won't allow it, they are in love with Rex at unimaginable levels.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 10:04 AM) Jim Les, give it up for the former Don Of Notre Dame High School. Two things: I just read on Yahoo that O.J. Mayo and one other prospect are thinking about following Huggins wherever he goes, which, as of late last night, will be Kansas St. Also, what's up with Derrick Rose? I'm just really, really hoping he decides to play with Gordon at Illinois. Has he decided on somewhere? Are talks off with the Illini? Thanks. O.J. Mayo and Bill Walker are the #1 and #2 players in the nation in the class of 2007. Mayo is a PG and Walker a SF, and expect both to end up at K-State. There are actually a few others (5 star center Jason Bennett of Florida, class of 2006 for one) who are expected to follow Huggie bear, so K-State shouldn't be short on talent that's for sure. As for Rose, the more that comes out the more it sounds like it's between UNC and Illinois. If the rumors I've heard are true, I'll predict he ends up at UNC, but Simeon has been a nice place for Illinois in the past and their current coach is one of the few CPL coaches that likes Weber, so the Illini definitely have a shot.

Bradley with good news on the recruting front. They already have a good class coming in next year in 6-5 wing Andrew Warren of Indianapolis and 6-10 (6-11 in shoes) 3 star big man Xavier Crawford of Richfield, Minnesota (Patrick O'Bryant part 2?). Earlier this week Bradley received it's first class of 2007 verbal in 3 star PG 6'0 Sammy Maniscalco of Chicago St. Patrick's. He picked Bradley over strong Horizon League interest as well as interest from DePaul. Xavier Crawford (2006): http://illinois.rivals.com/viewprospect.as...=2&pr_key=29510 Sammy Maniscalco (2007): http://illinois.rivals.com/viewprospect.as...=2&pr_key=50542 Les is an awesome recruiter as you can see by the striking talent on his team, and he continues to rake in the talent. I know he's a Bradley graduate, but I wonder how much longer it is until a big school throws a truckload of money at him.

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 02:23 AM) It's too bad the jayhawks took minnesota's best in Cole Aldrich. Aldrich=Shavlik Randolph 2.0 Nah, just playing, he'll be a good one....but I doubt Minnesota could have ever got him, he's too damn good. No offense Felix . -
The way Chef died was kind of lame. The way they seemed to respect him was cool. The way they completely ripped apart and destroyed Scientology was beautiful and made me want to stand and applaud.

QUOTE(q\/\/3r+y @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 01:46 AM) When he is hitting 100 he does it for a couple batters, sometimes even an entire inning. The next inning he will pop it at 98 one or twice and the be in the 96-97 mile an hour range. While you would think that is still plenty fast... he doesn't look like the same pitcher when out there for multiple innings. Bagwell against jenks was no fair fair... bagwell was having trouble to catch up to every thing above 94-95 after he came off the dl. Everyone knew if jenks threw strikes he was gonna make bagwell look silly. Over a full season i see jenks wearing down... whenever he pitches on back to back days... his velocity and stuff doesn't look the same... contrary to what the results may have presented last season. I don't know why he is considered to have the best stuff/be out best pitcher because he can hit triple digits. Well said sir, although I think if Jenks works on his other pitchers and polishes them he can be a long term success as a closer. Even when he's tired he throws 95 and combine that with a nasty hammer and a change, and your onto something.

Is somebody going to do those monthly white sox schedule wallpapers again this year? They were definitely cool last year and I know myself as well as many others used them for wallpaper since they looked good and were a permament schedule reminder. Just wondering, thanks in advance.
-
Not a great player, but he seems like a great guy and I'm happy for him that he'll forever be remembered fondly by Sox fans for hitting that home run. Good luck Geoff.

Gooch back to the 2 hole doesn't surprise me, but damn the reason why sure does. Thome as a 1B only in emergency situations doesnt' surprise me either, that's still enough of him playing 1B to get Paulie a rest once in a while. As for Cotts.....I don't mind only having 1 reliable lefty in the pen, but I DO mind it if we are using him as our closer. Get your s*** together ASAP Bobby.
