He may very well be a player who stays around, but there are packages out there that would make it worth trading him.
-
I know Shields is much maligned on this board (mostly for his cost), but after tonight's start, his ERA is barely above 4 and he's a guy a contender could count on to give them innings. Maybe (hopefully) the Sox can get something of value for him, even if it means eating the salary.

4-8 weeks for a sprained thumb?
-
In other words, expect a lackluster trade deadline. Hopefully the Sox get out in front of the market and deal some guys early, like they did with Q last year.

1) Who knows? Rick makes some bad decisions sometimes. 2) One of the top organizational priorities right now is developing Moncada. He should be leading off every game to get as many PAs as possible. Idk why they drop him against LHP.
-
So far it appears the White Sox are the only team tied to him, though.

So what do the Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin primaries Bernie won mean, then? These were primaries, not caucuses. To me, that, combined with the fact that two of those primaries took place in two of the three states that ended up putting Trump in the White House, suggests that Ms. Ocasio-Cortez is correct in her assessment that the midwest would be receptive to an economic populist message, and that Ms. Duckworth, while a respectable and good senator, might be a bit off base regarding the constituencies of the midwest as a whole. But hey, what do I know, that Crowley for Congress campaign is rolling right along, right?

Health might be an issue that could explain it. He did have a thumb injury earlier in the year, maybe that's the culprit? Hand and wrist injuries seem to severely dampen many players' offensive games.

Wow, their incompetence knows no bounds. That is laughably sad.

You did realize he was poking fun at your tendency to take anything that someone you've labeled a "Bernie-bro" that you disagree with and label it racist or sexist because it doesn't fit with your narrative, right?

"Those who cannot remember the past are doomed to repeat it." -George Santayana This is a good time to read about Hitler, his sudden rise to power, quick extinguishment of political opposition, and slow erosion of social norms, brainwashing of the masses through propaganda, and creation of a common enemy through othering of the Jews. People like to say it's ridiculous to compare a modern day politician to Hitler, but what is one to do when the politician's actions bear a striking resemblance to Hitler's? Ignore it?

Maybe it's not they who need to learn.

So is there going to be a trade winds subforum this year or just this thread?
-
Did you mean 2020/21? Because that would make more sense.

Jon Garland (or "Judy" as he was known here) certainly had his critics on this board. I don't remember or know of anyone who disliked Dye.

This isn't a good time to ask if we're better than anything as a nation. The answer is almost invariably no.
-
To be fair, I think everyone here would be happy if they were.
-
No, I'm saying expecting 20%+ walk rates to deem someone's plate discipline/eye elite is unreasonable. I doubt Collins will walk at a 20%+ rate at the MLB level.
-
Players who walk in 20%+ of their plate appearances are far rarer than "elite". You're talking hitters like Barry Bonds, Frank Thomas, Babe Ruth, these hitters did it in seasons of their career. Bonds managed a career 20.3% walk rate thanks to the incredible amount of walks he took near the end of his career, but he was also worth 164 WAR in his career. That's a little higher than elite.
-
So you're upset that the person who better represented the values, ideals, and policies you claim to espouse won?
-
If he can maintain a low K rate, his BABIP and average will track closely, and his speed is conducive to producing above average BABIP numbers. If he's hitting .300, a league average ISO (.150) and walk rate (7-8%) makes him an .800 OPS player. Combine that with good defense and it's a 4+ WAR player.

The problem with our country is there's a very large group of people and even an economic school of thought which views the tax dollars as the bigger loss than the lives of children in this country. Now, they would never say that publicly, but that is how they view things when you get down to the tough choices. That's a huge problem that needs solving.

We'll likely have a 13 justice court in the next 20 years.
-
If you have to use Hall of Famers to find better hitters than a hitter you're speaking about, you're probably speaking about a very good hitter.
