ESPN to do documentary on collapse
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 07:43 AM) Are we finally getting the national attention we deserve? We've always said we have a better curse than any team in sports. They never listened. We'll be the darlings of the national media if this keeps up.

Soxtalk Crashers
I've used it in the past to read old posts from people. Kind of helps form a better mental picture of some of the people who post. Eg. I read several pages of one of the more prolific soxtalk posters a few days ago and was surprised at how aggressive some of the early posts were. For whatever reason, I find that kind of search kind of entertaining when the current threads don't interest me. I also searched a topic before because I made a new thread one time and was reprimanded by one of the "10000+ post members" because the thread had already been introduced in the past. God forbid I make that mistake again.

NCAA Overtime
QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 09:56 AM) I like the NCAA overtime better. Not only do I like it because both teams get the ball, but I like that most of the time a touchdown wins the game. NFL overtimes just seem so anti-climactic most of the time. A couple of first downs and teams play for the FG and stop going for the endzone. With the threat of your opponent matching or beating it, you can't let up. I like the idea of starting them further back though. The 50 yard line would be a good spot in my opinion because it forces you to about 25 yards to get a reasonable field goal attempt. This is why I'd like to see both teams guaranteed one possesion. In the NFL, it seems that 75% of the time the team that receives the kick goes down and kicks a FG to win it. Doesn't seem fair. However, if they knew that the other team was going to get a chance to receive a kick and drive down for a TD to beat them, it would make the OT more exciting. If they were still tied after one possesion each, the game would be sudden death. The current NCAA system doesn't work for me because the field is too short (starting from the 25), so the defense is kind of forced to play passively. If the team had to drive the length of the field for a score, the teams would play more true to their natural style.

Rush hour traffic!?!
QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 10:47 PM) I'm not sure how all of this works, but why does it seem like when I'm in a game thread everyone else is instant messaging posts, but I have to keep hitting the view new posts button or going to the page before then back to seenew posts? Am I doing something wrong, or is that how the gamethread works for everyone? Sorry, I meant for that to be in green. Um, thanks. :banghead

So what did you do when Crede homered
I was on the MLB.com gamecast. It showed Crede at bat. Then it said "ball in play." Then nothing for about 10 minutes. I think it was stunned. Me too.

NCAA Overtime
I was watching the ND-MSU game Saturday, and I have to say that I hate the way NCAA overtime is handled. I am an ND fan (beat you to the punch), but that isn't the problem. I just think that giving each team the ball from the 30yd line and seeing if they can score is not a good way to handle OT. I like that each team gets a chance (the NFL should adopt that rule), but think a regular kickoff is a better way. Both teams should be guaranteed a possession in OT. If the game is still tied after one possession for each team, the game should be sudden death. What do you think?

QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 09:25 PM) The server is huge. The problem is when people search for things during games that sloooooooows us down so much, At least that is partially what jason has told me before. I'm not sure how all of this works, but why does it seem like when I'm in a game thread everyone else is instant messaging posts, but I have to keep hitting the view new posts button or going to the page before then back to seenew posts? McCartney Concert Review
I can't believe he plays that many songs. You really got your money's worth. Nothing like turning the kids onto the music you like. If I had to hear Baa Baa Black Sheep or This Old Man again while I drove, I would have put a pencil in my ears.

Inevitable Mariotti article
All season, Sox fans (myself included) were upset by the lack of respect the Sox were given by the national media. The "experts" at ESPN would say that the Sox weren't as good as their record would indicate. Inevitably a thread would start here telling the "experts" to f-off. Maybe they were right all along. I still like the Sox team. I think they'll make the playoffs and because they have talented pitchers, they have a chance to win it all. However, their everyday lineup lacks an impact offensive threat. I'm not talking statistically (PK has HR numbers, Pods has SBs), but I'm saying there is nobody that an opposing team really has to be careful with. Unfortunately, they didn't make a move for a guy like Griffey when they had a chance at the deadline. For what KWilliams was being asked to give up to get Griffey, Burnett, et al, I'm glad he didn't make the move. I felt that way at the time, and I don't think it's fair to hold him responsible now that the Sox have begun to slide.

Inevitable Mariotti article
2 points: Nobody made any real significant moves at the trade deadline. Our payroll, and those of other Central teams, reflects attendance. If we supported the team better at the gate, they'd spend more money and the division would be ours to lose every year.
