  1. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 11:02 AM) Personally, I think it should apply to all players, but that's me. Good question, though. We'll discuss it. But please remember that the "intent" is to keep things from being degrading or vulgar, not necessarily, "Torii Hunter sucks". So, IMO, the vulgarity should cover everyone. Piggybacking here (need a smiley for that). Does this policy apply to topics outside of baseball. For instance, a few weeks back, there was a Natalie Holloway thread where one poster repeatedly said that she was a slut and got what she deserved, etc. Is this crossing the line? I thought it was idiotic, but I didn't attack the poster personally, I just said I disagreed with his ideas. Oh, and I mentioned that I hoped that he never had kids. ( I think it's going to be very hard to be fair and consistent with the new policy. I don't believe I've ever crossed the line and attacked another poster, and I agree that it should not be tolerated, but I kind of think players and others in the media are fair game. Do I like to see posters here attacking players? No. However, if I see that, I just ignore it. I don't see why that would be censored.
  2. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 05:42 AM) Bellhorn has been pretty awful this season. My problem has nothing to do with the player they picked up, just the fact that seemingly every player released by another franchise gets a two week tryout with the Yankees. They seem to be the only team that can afford to take chances like that.
  3. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:56 PM) Probably. Kinda a pain too, cause we don't want to take away anyone that actually logs in and reads often. Then soxtalk's numbers are as legit as McGuire, Sosa, et al.
  4. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) Thank you for not registering and adding another point in the data bank. Any way to remove some of those names that registered in 2003 and never posted/signed up multiple times?
  5. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 03:31 PM) In terms of our policy, we will be suspending posters for 7-10 days upon first offense. Can we appeal our suspensions to the highest authority in baseball - Bud Selig?
  6. It will be disgusting if they make the playoffs. I'm so sick of them and the way they do business. I know they play by the rules, but no team should be allowed to take a flyer on every veteran player that becomes available. Baseball is just crying out for some form of salary cap. The current system is a joke.
  7. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 12:20 PM) No time with all of the I mean, could it be posted/updated on the top of the game thread page or on the home page?
  8. Is it possible to find a way to have the score posted on game threads? I always come into them, but leave because I have absolutely no idea what the score is. Not looking to create more work for anyone, but if it's not too hard to do, it would be a nice feature.
  9. Pizza, hot dogs, beef. Who cares? I'd commit Harry Caray for a White Castle's slider.
  10. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 10:44 AM) So you pretty much did a power hour with an extra 40 minutes? That's rough. And then we went out to a party. I miss college.
  11. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 10:42 AM) Wasn't Schilling also the one who destroyed a QUESTEC? Yeah, he did. Probably because nobody knows more than Curt about anything. Especially a machine.
  12. I once tried to do 100 shots of beer in 100 minutes. Same result as the gallon of milk. I think I got to 60-65, but to tell the truth, I was feeling kind of bad in the teens. It's not really all that much beer, it's the carbonation that catches up with you. And 60 seconds goes unbelievably quick when you don't want it to. :puke
  13. I'm sitting here waiting 2 hours for a guy at work to make a pick in fantasy football. Plus, I've got a turtle sniffing cotton, but am too lazy to get up and do anything about it. Life's good.
  14. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 06:15 AM) I dont remember Schilling as being such a Gossip Queen and Mr. Controversy until he got to Boston. Did he have an hourlong spot on a radio show when he was in Philly or Arizona? Definitely had one in Phoenix. He was on once a week for 30 minutes or so. I can't stand Schilling, but have to admit it's kind of refreshing to hear a guy speak his mind. I just happen to disagree with his moral superiority on every issue. One of the highlights of that day when the players sat before Congress was when the one guy (don't remember his name) said he was just handed an article that appeared in SI that has Schilling quoted saying that steroids were rampant in baseball. Schilling did not deny the statements, but said that upon reflection, he was wrong about that. Sure, Curt. Methinks Palmeiro, Sammy, and McGuire weren't the only ones who lied on that day. Curt Schilling - The Conscience of Baseball I for one am glad that Ben Davis bunted for a single to break up this puds perfect game bid. FU and your unwritten rules, Schill.
  15. What ever happened to Lorenzo Barcelo (sp?). I know he had surgery shortly after he was acquired ("white flag" trade, I think). Anyone know?
  16. Here's what a fight between Jack McDowell and BMac would look like.
  17. ^^^^^^^^^ What do your sources tell you?
  18. Just clicking on this subject probably puts me on the FBI watch list.
  19. When I lived in Chicago, I used to get "smell deja-vu" all the time. You know, "this reminds me of...." Unfortunately, here in Phoenix, I'm pretty sure the dry heat has melted that receptor in my nose/brain. Every once in a while, though, I'll look at a mop bucket and flash back to happpppy hour at CO's in Champaign. So many beers, so many beers.
  20. QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 07:19 PM) Time to can Walker, I'm sorry, but we need a guy with fresh ideas in there.... Like a coach who will introduce the idea that the Sox string together a few hits? Walker must be crazy. Telling these guys to go up and swing at the first pitch, strikeout, or pop-up.
  21. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 12:00 PM) That new guy who was on Baseball Tonight a week ago, Oversta (something liek that,) said he knew how old Julio was but wouldn't say. i would be very curious to know. Um, 47?
  22. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 05:22 AM) Sometimes, this type of info is correct and sometimes it's not. And, we still don't know actually anything. An announcement could be made today, tomorrow, 6 months from now, etc. Maybe they'll wait five years, and just as Roger is about to make his HOF induction speech, someone from Price Waterhouse will step onto the stage and announce the results of his 2005 pee test. Cue Peter Gammons chinless wimpering.
  23. Are they broadcasting from someplace original, like Wrigley?
  24. Not counting college, I lived in my parent's house for 26 years, then an apartment for a few months, then my first house with my wife. Then we moved 3 years ago from Chicago to Phoenix (wife's company moved us - and we took everything that wasn't nailed down). Unfortunately, I've spent the last 3 years trying to get rid of all the crap we moved.
  25. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 11:50 AM) I'm not a betting man, but if I was, I'm betting this is all hogwash. If that's the case, please ban the guy who started this.
