  1. QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 12:22 AM) I really don't like giving up the presumptive MLB starting 2B for the next X years for one year of Samardzija. It's well-known, I suppose, that I just don't think Samardzija is that great. I hope the Sox see something in him that hasn't really been there in his past production, which wouldn't merit this kind of return for a one-year rental I agree, but the sox know more about Semien than we do. I love him as a hitter though. I would never make that trade.
  2. Semien and Thompson were my favorite prospects in the system.
  3. QUOTE (ptatc @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 09:04 PM) Its only because the stats guys hav3 finally figured out how to somewhat quantifyvpitch framing. Stuff that used to be important but people stopped caring about because it wasnt part of the stats package. The idea of defense first for catching is coming back around. They think they can quantify it now, so it's an issue. I
  4. I really like Hanh and think he's doing a good job, but this is really premature. Hanh hasn't even built a team that's finished above .500. KW, for all his faults, did win a WS and had the team more competitive than they'd been in the previous half century. Hanh's a great nickname.
  5. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 9, 2014 -> 01:48 PM) Those all look like atomizers. As far as I can tell, I am looking for clearomizers. I have an Ego-T battery. I'm just looking for something that work, and gives me a lot of smoke. I'm not a sophisticated vaper and am not looking to spend much money at all since it's not like I'm a smoker and this is going to save my life or get me off cigarettes. I just do this for fun with my friends mainly. How is the brand Aspire? http://www.smoke-evolution.com/Aspire-BDC-...se-bdc-ce5s.htm or http://www.smoke-evolution.com/Aspire-BVC-...se-bvc-ce5s.htm The Nautilus is a good clearomizer, but still kind of garbage. Clearomizers are designed for smoking cessation. If you're looking to blow clouds, rebuildables are the only way to go. I started vaping to quit smoking. At some point it became a hobby.
  6. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 7, 2014 -> 02:53 PM) Ask him why all my s*** breaks. I just had a Kanger T3s break off a the base. Considering buying a Kanger MT3s next. I've been vaping since 2012, make my own juice, build my own coils etc. Kanger MT3's break because they're garbage. Start researching RBA's and RDA's. The only way to get consistent results is to build your own coils. What type of battery are you using? You'll never get good results with an ego. A good starter package that's cheap, low maintenance and dependable is an Eleaf iStick and a Lemo RTA or a Kayfun clone. Start watching lots of YouTube. RipTrippers, PBusardo and GrimmGreen have extensive tutorials. Stay away from vape shops. The mark up on everything is insane and the majority of the people working have no idea wtf they're doing. Learn the basics of Ohms Law. Battery safety is important.
  7. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 23, 2014 -> 12:29 PM) FanGraphs' numbers say this should be JJ Hardy. http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=...=&players=0 It would still be nice to see Alexei win it. He was deserving of the award a couple other times earlier in his career. "It would still be nice?" This is why I can't even bother to post anymore.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 18, 2014 -> 05:40 PM) Better than Frank's best? No. Better than end of career Thomas? Sure. But Frank's best stands against anyone in MLB history. Their peaks aren't even worth discussing. Frank's last 3 years were still better than Konerko's. As a 38 year old, Frank finished 4th in MVP voting with 39/114 and a 926 OPS. As a 39 year old, he sported an 857 OPS. As a 40 year old, he still had a 723 OPS. Paulie is 38 right now and, yeah.
  9. QUOTE (scs787 @ Sep 13, 2014 -> 10:48 PM) Micah Johnson is your prototypical leadoff hitter. He really isn't. Back to my hole.
  10. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 10:23 PM) Just my opinion. He's been a high average hitter in Cuba and in the minors. He's still only 25 and was injured last season. Don't battle the resident nerd. Dude has never actually seen a baseball game in his life, but he'll tell you all about it. Sabr and s*** like that. Soxtalk decided to make all the internet dudes mods. Jake has become the only dude that actually knows wtf he's talking about. Good job Soxtalk. Witesoxfan, eminor, rabbit and the rest of these lame ass douches have become the voice of White Sox baseball. Bunch of b****es. They will continue to project players they've never actually seen.
  11. Dayan would hit a lot of doubles in Safeco. US Cellular is a great park to hit homers, but not a great hitter's park. The gaps play so small.
  12. Good luck hoping a power hitting corner OF signs on to this s*** show. It did happen once, I guess. Dye signed and resurrected his career. Lightning in a bottle...maybe the Sox can catch it twice.
  13. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 12:13 AM) I never said saying "we" was a problem in either scenario, just pointing out that it happens in both occasions. Feel free to drop the attitude. Are you from Indiana?
  14. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 01:57 PM) His stats this year are anchored by his strong April. Away from April he has 22.1% K/PA and 4.9% BB/PA and both of those are worse than his career averages. His SLG, OPS and wRC are down in each of his full season efforts. He takes a home run hack every time up there and yet can only hit 9 HRs in 326 PAs. "If he can just shorten up" has been said for years and he hasn't been able to do so in 1500+ PAs. He is a horrible fielder away from his arm and a terrible baserunner to boot. The Sox need to add offense moving forward and Viciedo plays the positions (or attempts to) where the FO can add the offense whether it be via trade or FA. Don't fall in love with guys because they play with your team. Who's pushing him? What prospects or FA's? Cry about Viciedo, that's fine, but what's the alternative?
  15. We're rebuilding. We have a 25 year old with tremendous power to all fields. He's still under team control. It's pretty simple really. Chances are he never figures it out, but there absolutely no prospects pushing him. I'm not sure what the big deal is really. I don't give a s*** if the Sox deal him or not. I just don't see much sense in moving him for little to no value.
  16. A little more than 1 shooting per 100,000 people? Not bad.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 3, 2014 -> 04:03 PM) I pay for games with the Sox, just like I pay taxes to the US. The White Sox don't represent you and you're not a member of the organization. The government is comprised of fellow citizens with public jobs which makes the comparison omparison, well... Stupid. As a citizen, you are the "we." As a fan of a private organization, you're not.
  18. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 3, 2014 -> 03:23 PM) I don't make decisions that affect the country. I am not in that group. In fact, I've yet to ever invade a country, to the best of my sober knowledge. That comparison just got a C-section. So you hit HR's and shag flyballs for the White Sox? Tremendous logic being displayed here.
  19. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 3, 2014 -> 03:15 PM) Yeah, I don't have a problem with it either. People say "We" in talking about what the US Government or military should do all the time too. Probably because they actually are the "we." You're not a White Sox but you are an American. Truly an abortion of a comparison.
  20. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 3, 2014 -> 12:16 PM) Lol But seriously, this thread is an abortion. I rest my case.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 2, 2014 -> 09:20 AM) When guys are hot, people like to mention they will regress to the mean. But if they don't like a player, when he's cold, they act as if he won't get another hit the rest of his career. I think both Beckham and Viciedo are near the bottom of their 2014 rollercoaster ride. Viciedo seems to be rising the past 4 or 5 games. Beckham will start hitting again soon whether anyone wants to believe it or not. If this is "hot Viciedo," he can go too.
  22. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 2, 2014 -> 08:32 AM) Whoa, looks like we got us a pro scout here. By the way, if you're going to try to argue that Viciedo isn't bad on defense, I'm going to have to argue that you are the one who has never seen a game. Woah, looks like we got us a strawman here. Viciedo isn't good defensively, but he's not a "butcher." It's not like he's Carlos Lee out there. As far as his future, I wouldn't have a problem paying him $5M for another year. I really wouldn't have a problem with letting him go either, but it's somewhat foolish to let a 25 year old with his talent walk during a rebuild. If he was being pushed, it would be different, but he's not.
  23. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 2, 2014 -> 12:14 AM) Calm down dude. Even apart from stats, does your eye test not tell you that Viciedo is a butcher in the outfield and Beckham is acceptable at second? I'm calm. I'm just not going to listen to a guy that's never seen a baseball game try to quantify a player's defensive ability and how it impacts a game. I'm not going to listen to the same guy talk about tools and upside. I'm sorry, but it's garbage. Chances are that Viciedo and Beckham will continue to disappoint, but I would be patient with the younger, more gifted player.
