  1. The risk is worth a 5'6 slap hitting defensive hack with a torn hamstring. Madrigal is very replaceable. He'll never be better than replacement level.
  2. How is the sample size any different than you referencing his ops?
  3. I didn't conviently leave them off. I didn't think the 4 triples he's hit in his entire career were all that relevant.
  4. The capital was lost as soon as they drafted Madrigal 1/4. It was a huge overdraft.
  5. Kimbrel sucking doesn't mean Madrigal is good. It's a bad trade because Kimbrel sucked, not that we gave away a ton for him.
  6. He has 17 xbh in his career. He's a slap hitter. His 162 avg is 4 HR's and 25 doubles. It's too early to tell obviously, but I'm not too worried about Madrigal being anything more than serviceable over his career. That's not even taking into account he's coming off a severe hamstring tear.
  7. Madrigal is a little white grinder. Sox fans love that shit.
  8. I get the logic in starting Lynn, but starting Gio sets a tone. This is the kid's team.
  9. I'll be shocked if Madrigal ever makes an All Star game.
  10. If you told me before the season the Sox would win 90 games and make the playoffs after losing Robert, Jimenez, Grandal and Madrigal for significant portions of the season, I'd be stoked. I'm still stoked.
  11. Your argument was over a fictional trade that you don't even know would have happened? When you're getting upset about fictional scenarios you invented in your head, it might be time to step away.
  12. Wasn't he the 3rd baseman in Major League?
  13. 656 innings over 7 years. Gonna have pass on that one.
  14. It's interesting. He's obviously the best athlete the Sox have had. Hard to beat Frank though. Frank's probably a top 5 RH hitter of all time.
  15. I think Madrigal is a better defender than he's shown, but in order to he a "good" player, he has to play excellent defense. If he plays average defense, he's only a serviceable player.
  16. There were probably like 3 of us on the entire site that hated the Semien trade. The Sox valued Semien pretty highly.
  17. It was basically, "I like Madrigal, but he was an overreach at 1-4." That's something the majority of baseball fans would agree with. I wouldn't say Stone "blasted" him at all. Maybe a bit too honest, but it wasn't mean spirited.
  18. Stone didn't "blast" Madrigal at all, and this is coming from a guy that really wishes Stone would just shut up.
  19. I like Madrigal, but he was never going to be an impact player and I'm guessing the Sox know more about him than we do. Torn hamstrings are no joke.
