Finally I can leave the tv on after the game and watch highlights on all the local channels and ESPN and everywhere else. Finally I have a smile on my face! -

If we keep at this pace, it could very well be only a 7-game lead going into the roadtrip, which sure doesn't look easy... 3 at the Metrodome, fly cross country to Seattle, and then back to Texas for a grueling 4-game series in 3 days. It could get much worse before the end of August. If we win today, I'll feel confident going into the roadtrip, we need this win today! I feel this is the day!! -
Energy in the crowd = Energy on the field
SouthSidePride05 replied to SouthSidePride05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If we make it to the playoffs, how is ithis lineup supposed to play when it's inevitable the Cell will be deafening, especially if we score a few runs early? If they play worse in that type of atmosphere, then we're in real trouble. I just think that something like a loud "Let's go White Sox" with the entire crowd in unison might wake up this team. The way the Sox are playing is like a bad, disturbing nightmare... Maybe you guys are right, and nothing can help our offense right now... :banghead -
Right now, nothing's working. Everyone's coming to the plate with no fire, everyone in the lineup looks lethargic. They look tired and confused and scared, swinging at everything in the dirt, and they're lacking any type of confidence they once had. While all of this is happening, you could hear a pin drop. The crowd's have been big, but they've been dead. You could argue that there's nothing to cheer about, but on the other hand, we're the ones who can fire up this team. Before the game even starts, let's hear some noise. Let's make the Cell a playoff-type atmosphere. When someone makes it to first, you should be able to feel the electricity in that place. I wanna hear the roar of the crowd. Don't tell me a VERY LOUD crowd wouldn't spark this offense!

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 09:53 PM) Best news of the night: the game tomorrow is on Fox. Thus, no Hawk and his public relations blitz! and no more of that weird green shirt he wears every night. :headshake -

Here's how I'm gonna look at it: The next month and a half will either be the most tragic collapse in baseball history or the most ecstatic moment celebrating the clincher and the amazing season. Either way it'll be pretty damn exciting, and I'll probably have a heart attack, but there's nothing I can do about it. The only thing I can do is hope for the best. When everyone's back in the lineup, and everyone's healthy, the offense will inevitably click, and they'll all be in the zone. AJ, Pods, Iguchi, Everett, Konerko, Dye, and even Crede are all amazing when they're at their best, and if they all clicked at once, we'd be seeing more long winning streaks to end the season. -

If Pods is overrated, then how do you explain how the Sox got off to their best start in 100 years and have been around 30 games over .500 for what seems like most of the summer. How were they getting it done? Luck? Solo Homeruns? Honestly it's a mystery to me, and I've watched every single game. -

By September 1st, the Sox could potentially be in 2nd place.. if they lost their remaining games and Indians won all theirs. Of course that won't happen.. but .. can you imagine! -

This really shows how much Podsednik helped the team in the first half... when he was 100%. Every time he got on base, he distracted the pitcher, no matter who was on the mound. Iguchi was solid throughout the entire first half, mainly because he was batting on a distracted pitcher... and that's what sparked the offense. When's his first day back? We need him bad! -

From the beginning of the season, the Sox never had to play under pressure. They quickly went up around 16 games over .500 with the two 8-game winning streaks, and from then on, they played with a cushion.. very loose..laughing, dancing in the dugout, and coming to the plate without a worry in the world. And knowing Frank was about to return to the lineup, that was even more of a reason not to worry. For the first time in 2005, they're playing with a little pressure.. and it's not pretty. They want to win these games just as much as us diehards want the win. They're tight at the plate, and all of a sudden, everyone in the lineup looks lost. It's contagious throughout the lineup. I really don't know what's gonna take them out of this losing streak. We need El Duque to step it up and keep the Yankees from scoring more than 1 run. Tomorrow's huge! And it's all on Fox! -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 08:57 PM) We'd still be up 9.5 after the debacle of the last week. Things could be much, much, much worse. I'm usually optimistic but I can't help but think about the upcoming road trip and Pods not coming back until the next homestand... the 9.5 game lead could drop real fast. -

If the Sox go down 1-2-3, I'll be depressed as hell. Forget getting any sleep tonight. Watching the Sox get shutout after the 1st inning every night is taking its toll on me. -

I feel a comeback in the bottom of the 7th.. Due up: Crede, Blum, & Uribe Hmmm.. I'll take that back.. This is a nightmare! I can't believe this is happening. -
I was reading through the forum over at tripadvisor, and a guy from Scotland is visiting Chicago for the first time in August and September and wants to attend his first baseball game. http://chicago-hotels.tripadvisor.com/Show...o_Illinois.html He's asking forumers which game would be best. So far, most posters are suggesting Wrigley Field. Is anyone here registered to that site? In August/Sept. he could be seeing some amazing games if he went to US Cell.. someone should lead him in the right direction.

Attendance: start of something big or just a fluke
SouthSidePride05 replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think we'll be lucky to get over 30,000 for next Tue, Wed, and Thurs against Toronto. But then Friday will be a huge crowd for Elvis night. Probably 35,000 or more. After that night, we'll be averaging 28,000 fans for the year so far which is amazing compared to 20K-24K we averaged for the last couple seasons. And after that, we probably won't see too many crowds under 30,000. US Cellular Field is one of the smallest stadiums capacity-wise in MLB. And US Cellular isn't exactly a tourist attraction, bringing in out of towners, which accounts for most of attendance around the league. For example, Busch Stadium in St. Louis: when you go to St. Louis, there's 2 things you have to do (and basically the only things there are to do).. The Arch and Busch Stadium. Wrigley Field, SBC Park in San Francisco, Yankee Stadium, and others, draw huge amounts of tourists. US Cellular: basically none; they all go to Wrigley (you can't go to Chicago without taking a picture of the Welcome to Wrigley Field sign :headshake ). Considering all that, White Sox fans are among the best when it comes to attendance and supporting their team. -
Garland's pitching unbelievable tonight. I hope our offense comes through and helps him get his 15th win. It would be a shame if we lost this one. If we lose tonight, I'll be the most angry person in the world! I'm gettin nervous.

There's probably gonna be more of them Fri-Sun, since they'll all fly out for the weekend. I had to laugh at the comment 'they're more obsessed with themselves than they are the team'.. I completely agree. They all wanna be part of Red Sox Nation and make the most noise possible. :finger You could hear the "Let's go Red Sox" loud and clear on tv, and then the booos by the White Sox fans. After the moron said "Calm down it's only a baseball game" after buying him a beer, I probably would've bought another one, and splashed it all in his face. Even if I got arrested, it would feel great!

Was today kid's day at the park? I swear, there were more 8 year olds in attendance than adults. Busloads and busloads of annoying little kids all dressed up in the same colored shirts.. half of the UD were blue shirts, the other half yellow shirts, the kids in front of me were all decked out in purple and trying to entertain each other and didnt' know which way the field was. Ughh! With the "After Hours" Summer Camp in front of me, and the socialites who couldn't name 2 Sox players in back of me, I was honestly thinking to myself, I wonder if my friends and I are the only ones here in this stadium who knows what the heck is going on. I've been to a handful of games this year, and it seems like this is becoming more and more common. I realize it comes with the territory; all the bandwagoners finding their way over to the ballpark, but still, I don't remember this much cluelessness (not talking about the 8 year olds ) back in 2000, or any other year. And there seems to be more Cubs hats at the games this year. I also noticed a bunch of Red Sox hats, probably just in town for the upcoming series. I'm not usually negative and easily irritated, but today was not a good day at the park. I used to always have a blast going to US Cellular.. the fans were knowledgable and I'd always have intelligent baseball conversations with someone.. and the crowds were great. Hopefully this was just one horrible experience, but it's inevitable.. here come the bandwagoners. :puke Can't wait to go to my next game. I need this memory to fade quickly!

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 11:20 AM) I'm a bit surprised by the low sales for tonight. Probably a healthy walk-up crowd. Hopefully they get a 10 K walkup, which could happen after the last 5 wins and Maggs in town I'm confused about the sales on ticketmaster. Yesterday I tried 19 seats together, and it gave me section 155, row 25. Then early this morning, I checked, and it gave me the exact same seats. And just now I tried and exact same seats! Does this mean no one has bought tickets online in 24 hrs? Hopefully we'll get 24K tonight.

How do you know it's a sellout? Ticketmaster stops selling tix 4 hrs from game time, and sometimes people mistake that as a sellout. Was it reported somewhere?

What is your second favorite team in baseball?
SouthSidePride05 replied to tony72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Braves I have family living out in Atlanta and they're all big Braves fans. They also root on the White Sox because they know we love the Sox. -
Do you remember the "whoomp there it is" chants going down the ramps?
