I've been reading and hearing a lot of people saying "it will never be the same, the first is always the most special and it loses importance after that".. I don't get why people think like this. To me, if we repeat, it'll even be better than this year. The more, the better! The sense of pride we'll have as Sox fans will be more with each title. I also want to witness a celebration in US Cellular Field. This year, we didn't clinch the division at home, and all the playoff series wins were away. I remember going to the clincher in '93, and I have to say it was louder and crazier than Game 1 of the World Series. After Game 1 of the World Series, the ramps (and the El) were actually quiet and not full of energy. After the '93 clincher, the ramps and parking lots were loud, electric, and chaotic..

"You truly are World Champions".. When I read that line, I honestly got chills! I've never been so proud to be a Sox fan. My dreams came true, and now I'm hearing "You are the World Champions" from Jerry Reinsdorf.. wow, I'm speechless too.

Doesn't Iguchi live in Schaumburg?

QUOTE(chisox72 @ Oct 29, 2005 -> 09:54 PM) I am not quite sure how this s*** is still on the air. This show is like the Cubs organization. Idiots will always watch it, so no need to make it any better. This is the worst thing I've ever seen. Talk about lazy and pathetic!

Wow, those dogs are smart! They're sniffin out those drugs like crazy.
-
To really boost attendance, we need one more promo night: $1 KC Nights. All Kansas City games are $1 .

I'm calling in sick tomorrow. They can't fire you without a notice, so I'm not hesitating to skip tomorrow. It's gonna be spectacular witnessing a ticker tape parade in person.. and seeing so many people wearing Sox gear and watching everyone go nuts as the team goes by. I can't even imagine. Tomorrow's gonna be THE BEST DAY EVER!!!
-
Why have 2 celebration events? A parade and then a rally, especially if it's on different days, would draw much smaller crowds than if there was one giant celebration rally. The Bulls championship rallies were always on weekdays, and I remember not too many kids showed up, even though school was out for the summer. It was mostly adults & workers in downtown Chicago. Virtually everyone who works downtown shows up.. but if it's on a Saturday, a majority of them would probably stay in the suburbs, or wherever they live. I don't expect it to be the size of the Bulls rallies, probably a tenth of the size, I'm guessing 50,000. WE'll be able to see the stage better though!
-
Other people on WSI and whitesox.com are saying they heard it's either on Friday or Monday. If it's during school/work, the crowd will be significantly smaller. I want a HUGE crowd, dammit!!!

^^^^^^^^^^^^ LOL @ Steff! POST OF THE YEAR!
-
This might mean that more people are watching the games at bars, and their tvs at home are off. Thousands of people in Houston watched on 1 giant screen in downtown, thousands of people in Chicago watched with other large crowds, and probably the same thing around the country.

For some reason, i'ts almost like I'm watching another team, and this unbelievable team isn't the team I've been following for years. In September, every game involved panic attacks, my heart pounding out of my chest, biting my fingernails, pulling my hair out, and yelling at the top of my lungs. I thought when they make the playoffs, I might have a heart attack watching the games. On Sunday, when Paulie hit that grand slam, I didn't even flinch, my heart didn't skip a beat, I didn't yell, I was almost slightly uncomfortable, like I was either numb or watching a team from Atlanta win Game 2 of the World Series. I see Sox fans going wild on tv, mobbing the cameras outside the Cell, and it's like I'm watching fans in some other city going crazy for their team. What the hell's going on??
-
Does anyone have a picture of the skyline at night from the Dan Ryan, anywhere from the Cell to downtown? Driving north on the Dan Ryan from the Cell after Game 1, I couldn't believe how many skyscrapers had Sox messages on the front and sides of their buildings. It seemed like 10 skyscrapers had "GO SOX" or "SOX WIN" or just "SOX". I had thought only 3 buildings were displaying it, so I was surprised so many were showing Sox Pride. I have to get a picture of this!

I went to the UC for one of the away games during the NBA Finals. I think it was cheaper.. like $10. It wasn't sold out, but the atmosphere was incredible. Even if there's only 6000 people, it'll be loud as hell and majorly electric. I can't imagine the roar after every strikeout by Contreras in Game 5.. and in the 8th and 9th innings, I'm sure everyone will stand up and going wild for every pitch. It'll be crazy!!! Sox fans are LOUD!
-
I wonder how many people are gonna actually use the coupons? You still have to pay $40.00 to get the radio. I think I'll take a pass. I'll just be happy to be in the stadium for a WS game.. something I never dreamed I would experience!!!

Where in the city will the biggest celebrations taking place IF the Sox win the World Series? Or, in other words, which street will be the place to be? Many cities have a ground zero where everyone knows that's the place to be for celebrations... White Sox fans don't really have a set place, especially since the area around the Cell will be blocked off by police during the World Series. There needs to be that one place where we can all go and celebrate in MASS!
-
I'm stuck at work with a bunch of Cub fans who feel the need to belittle the celebration scenes. They're a bunch of idiots here, it's driving me crazy. They were talking about how the streets were completely flooded in 2003 when the Cubs beat the Braves to advance to the LCS, and it was just a sea of people going crazy. They're laughing and saying I picked the wrong team to root for since I'll be the only one in Grant Park for the rally. It's like I'm back in high school at my job. I guess they're all just bitter, and taking it way too hard. Once I get out of work, I'm gonna party like it's 1959!!!
-
My eyes are so red, and they're burning more every hour, I might ask to go home. Nothing would feel better right now than to lay my pounding head on a pillow and go to sleep. ..But it's still one of the best days of my life.

Good 10/12 dropped third strike images
SouthSidePride05 replied to downstairs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Nice website! I wonder how long everyone will be talking about this? I'm hoping this "controversy" is forgotten about when we win this series! Think about this: no one would be talking about this if AJ hadn't swung at such a low ball IN THE DIRT! But then again, the pitcher would've had a different mindset and might have gotten Crede out. Glad everything went down the way it did! -
Cubs fans have no problem cheering for White Sox Dan Bickley The Arizona Republic Oct. 13, 2005 12:00 AM In Arizona, Cubs fans are like crickets. You'll find one around every corner. Contrary to popular belief, they are not cringing at the sight of the White Sox, a cross-town rival, playing for a berth in the World Series. "A Cubs fan can cheer for the White Sox," said transplant Joe McIntyre, now a Phoenix resident. "It's Sox fans that have a rabid hatred of the Cubs, and I believe it is jealousy. They've never been the No. 1 team." advertisement It's true. I grew up on the south side of Chicago, where the air was courtesy of the Sherwin-Williams paint factory, where freight trains bellowed in the middle of the night, where illicit trips to Wrigley Field remained a guarded family secret. Unlike the Red Sox, the White Sox don't have a nation. They have a small, blue-collar mob. Sadly, they are best known for blowing up disco records and running after umpires. But most of all, they carry a massive inferiority complex, and oh, how it must hurt to have all these Cubs fans openly cheering for them in the American League Championship Series. "We get this older couple in here from Chicago - Gene and Sandy - and they wear their Cubs gear all the time," said Anthony Garcia, manager at R.T. O'Sullivan's in Mesa. "The other day we asked them if they were rooting against the White Sox. They said, 'No. We're from Chicago. We're still going to cheer for them.' " It's a zany idea to those weaned on the hate biscuits of Arizona-Arizona State, but the dynamics of this relationship are more dysfunctional than any other rivalry in professional sports. The Cubs are massively popular. Their brand is universal. They are the Yankees without the championships, and their fans stretch the corners of the globe. They are posers, poets, elitists, purists, politicians and actors. In most cases, they wouldn't be caught dead even thinking about the White Sox. It's basically a class thing. As in, they don't think White Sox fans have any. Thus, the White Sox and their fans go largely ignored in a major city. "Remember, Sox fans detest Cubs fans," said Glendale's Joe Hutchinson, a native Chicagoan. "Most Cubs fans are ambivalent." It's the way it goes, the way it's been, and you know what? White Sox fans should hate Cubs fans, for the Cubs are the ones who ended up with the great ballpark, the great neighborhood and the megawatt superstation (WGN). The other day, Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley (lifelong White Sox fan) complained how the Cubs had their newspaper (Chicago Tribune), and how does one compete with that kind of home-press advantage? What the Cubs didn't have - Harry Caray - they simply stole from the South Siders. So, yes, it's been hard getting through this postseason without a little taunting. "I think the majority of Cubs fans are apathetic," said Brad Zibung, editor in chief of The Heckler, a publication dedicated to baseball fans on the north side of Chicago. "Well, they're as apathetic as they can be when drunk Sox fans stumble through Wrigleyville slurring things like, 'Hey, how'd the Cubs do tonight?' " That said, even Zibung thinks the White Sox's remarkable season is great for the city. "If the Sox actually brought Chicago its first World Series title since 1917, it will change the way Chicagoans view their baseball team," he said. Of course, Cubs fans believe that is impossible. They are not threatened by the White Sox's run at a title, even if it would put the Cubs' misfortunes on center stage, alone. They believe they will forever be the kings of the Second City, and they're probably right. "The Cubs had a bad year. They finished behind Milwaukee," said former Cy Young Award winner Steve Stone, who played for both teams. "But that would seem like a pretty bad reason not to cheer for the White Sox, and I think what most Cubs fans want is what's good for Chicago. And if they're cheering for anyone during the playoffs, they're probably cheering for the Astros to beat the Cardinals." But they're not against cheering for the White Sox. After all, they represent different worlds, but they share the same boundaries. And if the White Sox can end their own little curse, surely the Cubs will be next. Reach Bickley at [email protected] or (602) 444-8253. I just sent this guy an email.. He couldn't be further from the truth, and the whole point of the article was to demean the Sox and their fans. Completely naive and narrow-minded, in my opinion.

What was up with todays crowd?
SouthSidePride05 replied to Whitewashed in '05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I was watching on tv and the crowd seemed dead.. I muted Fox and turned on ESPN radio.. and it was like night and day. Crowd was deafening and electric, and it was like I was watching a different game. FOX'S AUDIO WAS DEAD.
