  1. Which MLB ballparks are known for being the loudest, or which ballparks that you've visited have been the loudest? How does the Cell compare? Does the Cell have a higher or lower decibel level since the renovations/canopy roof etc.? And what makes a stadium loud?
  2. Someone was asking me last night to name the pitches each of our starters throw. I have a pretty good idea, but can someone give a list for Contreras, Buehrle, Garcia, Garland, and Javi.. Thanks!
  3. How long was the line? Did you see any news cameras around? I'm hoping they'll show it on the local news tonight.
  4. Does anyone know of a website which shows the current number of sellouts for each MLB team? I would think the White Sox would be near the top in that category. The Sox will have 25 at the All-Star break. Very impressive!
  5. Why is anyone taking Jay seriously? Why is anyone even reading his columns? You're letting the idiot win by letting him get under your skin. I never read his columns.. whenever I see him on ESPN, I immediately turn it.. so he's not bothering me one bit. Ozzie and others in the organization should've done the same. I'm not disappointed in anything Ozzie said, that's Ozzie being Ozzie, but I'm disappointed that Ozzie and others are letting a lowlife idiot "columnist" make them look stupid.
  6. I hope they have enough fireworks left for Fireworks Night on Friday.
  7. Pretty funny shirt at heavethehawk: I looove Hawk and DJ!
  8. Even for the good teams coming in, like for the next homestand, 3 games have only sold about 33K so far, and might not sell out (Wed vs StL, Fri vs Hou, Sun vs Hou). The avg might get close to 36K at the end of the summer, and then we'll see it dip to 34-35K to end out the season, bringing in 2.8 million. Very impressive!
  9. Thanks, WCSox.. I think the pair I have cost around $60 or more. They were my favorite shoes until they made that squaking noise. :banghead At least I didn't pay for them. I'll probably go out and look for better shoes next week.
  10. Has anyone here experienced problems with their Nike basketball shoes? I've always worn Nike shoes and never had problems until recently. In April I got new basketball shoes for my birthday. I loved them when I first got em. They were comfortable, fit just right, and looked cool. So I threw away my old pair of shoes cuz I thought I wouldn't need them again. In the last 2 weeks, whenever the shoe bends while I'm walking, it makes a loud crunchy noise. So if I'm walking through a quiet store, my loud shoes are echoing throughout the whole store, it's embarrassing. The noise is coming from the soles of the shoe, whenever it bends. Is there any way to get rid of this noise? It almost sounds like the bottom of my shoes are sticky but that's not the case. Despite this annoying noise, the shoes are still in great condition and I hope I don't have to pay for new shoes soon. Any advice appreciated!
  11. A lot of games in the last month that were filled to capacity had an announced paid attendance of 37,000. Apparently they don't count the comp tix, even though they were in attendance. So the current avg attendance of 34,615 looks that much more impressive! I may be wrong, we'll never know, but I think if there were no obstructive poles in the UD, many more games would be sold out. I wish they had never built those poles in the UD. I've been checking ticketmaster and noticed at row 12, anywhere in the UD, it says "Seats may be obstructed/limited view". Is this correct? Are the poles really at row 12.. I thought they were much higher. In any case, this definitely prevents a lot of sellouts. For the next homestand, only 3 are guaranteed to sell out. The Wed, Fri, and Sunday games have stalled in sales because only available tix are "obstructed". Ticketmaster should remove that line!
  12. SWEEEEET!!! I think I'll be visiting these boards more than WSI now, just for Hangar18's Media Watch.
  13. I went to the game on May 9th, which had 36,000, and the last 12 rows directly behind home plate were all empty. We had UD tickets, visited the Fundamentals deck for the 7th inning, and then for the 8th and 9th sat directly behind home plate in row 15. We sat in the middle of the row instead of on the aisle so no ushers would ask to see our tickets. Good times!!
  14. QUOTE(Rooftop Shots @ May 24, 2006 -> 10:52 AM) There is a way, but it's a little chancey. VIP tickets, (the ones that are behind home plate in between both dugouts) are also the ones that brokers sell.Whatever the brokers don't sell, go back to US Cellular. They are in fact able to sell those at the box office ONLY on the day on which the game is played on. The Cell, then has to sell them at face value. The chancey part is, be at the box office early.....as soon as it opens up, Ask for best of.....for todays game, and if any VIP tickets are available. On Franks Monday return game, that's how I got my ticket. along with others that I talked to that were in my row. I was fortunate to be in Sec 133 Row 25 (BEHIND Home Plqate). Granted, they are not always available, but it has worked for me 3 times in the last few years. Mondays game had 39,000 plus in attendance, and was sold out when trying to get tickets on line or over the phone........but yet......the box office still had the VIP's! I wanted to post a few photos in another forum from where I sat, but the day that my computer/photo imaging skills ever get to the point where I don't drive all the admins nuts, is the day that Paul Konerko and Cecil Fielder outruns Scott Podsednik and Carl Crawford and in a relay race. If your reading this guys......sorry for all of the hassels. Don't mean to be a pain. Thanks for the tip! I'll give it a try when my parents visit in June; I wanna impress them. How much are the VIP tix?
  15. The only reason I'll be watching tonight is to see Chris performing with Live. This band knows how to rock!
  16. Yeah, it's great news. We're averaging 34K, and it's only gonna go up. What are Cub fans gonna do now that they can't rip on our attendance?
  17. It could be. The rest of the season could easily be sellouts. We've had 5 consecutive sellouts, tonight is a sellout, and the next homestand begins with a weekend series (should sell out), then Detroit comes to town, and then summer is in full effect.
  18. QUOTE(Felix @ May 20, 2006 -> 07:52 PM) Wow! Classic pic. It's now my desktop background.
  19. QUOTE(WinningUgly85 @ May 20, 2006 -> 04:57 PM) Incredible my first Cubs-Sox game and a fight breaks. This is just to show you that the Cubs are on the brink of collapse. I remeber Barrett's interview from over the break saying that he was afraid of the Cubs loosing fan base and becoming the the second team in chicago. He punched AJ intentially know doubt. I was listening to the Score on the way home from the game and Barrett's excuse was that after AJ ran into him he bump him again and then made a move toward their dugout and he reacted. Thats a bunch of bull, AJ just said he was going to get his helmet. From what I saw, AJ did nothing wrong. He did not look like he was coming after Barrett like how Barrett suggested. The mood in the stands was tense. As soon as the fight broke I saw the entire Bullpen just make a break for the field. Barrett took out his fraustrations on AJ thats what it boils down to. The whole entire Cubs organization is a lost cause, their dumbass fans make the arguement all the time that they have sell out crowds...AND FOR WHAT? A lost cause. Alot of Cub fans are angry that their team is losing and its because the Tribune only cares about ticket sales, they don't care if the cubs win or lose. If dumb people keep forking the money over to support them why would they need to care. They spent less money then us and all they did was add a bunch of seats in s*** wrigley field over this entire off season proving that they don't care. So my question is are there so many dumb people out there that would cheer for this s*** team? Honest to god its a lost cause. If anyone who his going to come out of this situation ahead its us. Micheal Barrett is bound for suspension thus helping his team suck even more. Who are the Cubs gonna put in Blanco? And here was Dusty Baker just saying that he did not see any punches thrown man he needs to do his job and control his players and keep them in line cause he is not doing s***. I'm pretty mad that this would happen to AJ. The Cubs are trying to pin this s*** on us and its was Barrett who threw the punch. This just shows us level of Sportmanship the cubs have and how much control Dusy haves over his team. Hey, what was the crowd like when the fight broke out?
  20. Did anyone see the USA Today column on Sox vs Cubs Series. It starts off with "The Cubs continue to outdraw the champs by more than 6000 fans a game".. :finger
  21. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ May 18, 2006 -> 10:34 AM) Last year at wrigley when we were going for the sweep it was 50/50 at their place. I've always been curious about this but never asked anyone. How many season-ticket holders do the Cubs have? I know the Sox have somewhere around 21K.. wondering if the Cubs is much higher. I think it'll be majority Sox fans for this series. Probably around 25,000 Sox fans and 15,000 Cubs fans. The demand is down this year for Cub fans, they don't wanna be embarrassed at our ballpark.
  22. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 18, 2006 -> 10:26 AM) No reason to chant anything towards the Cubs. Just beat them and keep our mouth shuts. Act like we've done something, since we are World Champs. Sounded funny when I first read that. I thought you were talking about beating Cub fans. Anyway, I hope it's a loud playoff-type atmosphere for this series, and I hope we sweep em.
  23. I'm curious to see if the 1908 chant does happen. I don't have a problem with hearing it loud once (it's all tongue in cheek anyway, why take it seriously) but if it continues over and over throughout the game, that could be embarrassing. What I think will happen is we'll hear it once, and then LOUD boos from both Cub fans and Sox fans, and everyone will think that it was soley the Cub fans who drowned-out the chant with boos.
  24. I don't understand why people have a problem with the idea of chanting "1908". Chants are what brings the energy up, and it gets the crowd to an electric atmosphere. I hate it when the crowd sits back, doesn't chant, and only goes wild if the Sox do something great. The Sox are the freakin World Champs, let's give them some love back, get off our asses, and go wild from the first pitch. Why not? If I was a player, I sure would appreciate it. And I hate the fact that some Sox fans are saying this series is gonna feel flat; every series in '06 should be an electrifying experience. Let's be as loud as the Old Chicago Stadium during a blackhawks playoff game.
  25. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ May 11, 2006 -> 08:40 AM) Can the cat that did all of the charting for attendance reappear. I am to lazy to look for it but it was a cool little graph with some great detail. Two sell-outs against the Royals and 60K plus thus far in this series has got to be nice. This stems from the Trib gig about the cub attendance. What are the idiots pulling game by game. Here's the chart. So far, I've been wrong on 1 game that I had predicted would sell out (predicted on Feb.28). I thought the 3rd game of the season would sell out, but apparently thousands of tickets were released just a few days before that game. Everything else I've been right on. I haven't changed anything, like what's available for future dates, except for the announced attendance for each game. Since Feb. 28, tickets have been selling like crazy and a lot of summer games are close to sold out... 2006 WORLD CHAMPION CHICAGO WHITE SOX TICKET SALES @ US CELLULAR FIELD AS OF TUESDAY, FEB 28, 2006 - The day before Spring Training ~ 2 best available for all games (no 2 seats available = sold out) -9 sold out games ***AND AFTER EXTENSIVE RESEARCH ... (PREDICTIONS) -17 guaranteed to sellout because best available is UD 5 sections or less from corners -9 guaranteed to sellout because traditionally sold out = July 4th, half price & Fireworks nights after Memorial Day -8 guaranteed to sellout because games vs. Cleveland, St. Louis, Houston, and Fan Appreciation Day -10 guaranteed to sellout because tickets are going fast & games during summer SO FAR 53 GAMES ARE LIKELY TO SELL OUT...
