QUOTE (hi8is @ Feb 22, 2011 -> 01:15 PM) April 6th - April 14th You could try priceline and name your own price. Start at $40 for 3 star in NMA-River North Zone. The only caveat is priceline does not guarantee 2 beds, but I'm sure you could work that out with the hotel.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 05:38 PM) 1.) Which airport is best to fly into - It doesn't matter.. fly into the airport that has the cheapest fare. Both airports provide direct rail transport to the city. O'hare = Blue Line / Midway = Orange Line 2.) What is a good area to stay ( we're on a tight budget ) - Stay in the River North area. I would look into this deal: http://www.travelzoo.com/hotels/chicago/976468/ Note that this deal expires on Feb 25. Great hotel and excellent location. From this hotel, you only walk 4 blocks to the Red Line at State & Grand, where you can catch the train to US Cellular Field. 3.) What is the best way to get to the park on public transit from the location you have recommended above - CTA: Red Line to the park/ blue line to O'hare/ orange line to Midway.

Does anyone know why the attendance was about 30K for each game, but almost all the seats were taken? I heard something about "comps", but I still don't get it. How can there be 9000 comps for each game, and who did these free tickets go to? Were they all in the upper deck? I was just curious..

Do fans at Wrigley do the wave? The crowds at the Cell have been downright embarrassing. It's like when the stadium gets more than 30,000 fans, they don't know how to handle it, they get all giddy and start the wave.. Then there's the fights in the UD.. But what's bugging me the most is how lame the crowds have been. The fans are so f***ing lethargic. It looks like half the crowd are zombies. Whenever I happen to catch a Cubs game on tv, I notice how those fans are alive. Whenever there's a big pitch, the entire crowd rises to their feet in unison.. within 2 seconds. I've never seen that at the Cell. It takes 45 seconds for half the crowd to stand up. I know we rip on Cubs fans for acting like every game is a World Series game, but that's better than looking like a casual family softball game. I just wish every game was like that blackout game. The White Sox deserve more crowds like that!

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 06:49 AM) http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...T-sox21.article Lots of good Ozzie (I can't say I disagree with anything he said for a change, except our stadium holding 50,000 fans) quotes with some more stuff from KW... How could you not know how many our stadium holds? I don't get it. And why does he have to rip on the fans for not showing up? Never a good idea. "At least we'll have people in the stands". That pisses me off. I've spent a lot of money on tickets to see a piss poor performance, and then he rips the fan base. With his recent comments, on camera and on twitter, I'm starting to get irritated with him.

Kenny Williams is Calling for a Blackout for Opening Day
SouthSidePride05 replied to whtsox13's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think it's a good idea. It's on national television, opening day is always a sellout, and stuff like this gets noticed and consequently sells more tix for future games. BTW, will Chicagoland Comcast viewers be able to watch it on ESPN2 or will it be blacked out in local areas? I'd rather watch ESPN2 than CSN. -
Anyone heard of Gary Go? I had never heard of them until I caught an episode of Sober House; they were promoting one of their songs at the end of the show for some reason (I think it was the end of the show.. unless it was just 30 minutes of upcoming highlights). Anyway, I looked them up on Youtube and I'm actually digging this song. I was wondering if any of their other songs are decent..

Here's the reason why I started this thread. My brother just bought these 2 hats, and he said I can choose one for my birthday, and he'll just take the other one. I wish I could take both. Whichever one I pick, I can't go out and buy the other one because I wouldn't want to go out with my brother and be wearing identical hats. Dammit, I can't decide. Initially, I liked B, but now I think it looks too flashy. Do you guys think it's too flashy?
-
If these were your only choices, which hat would you pick? A.) B.)

Sox versus Yankees August 2, 2009 game thread
SouthSidePride05 replied to southsider2k5's topic in 2009 Season in Review
Why are there so many damn tickets left? According to ticket rep, 8K tickets still remain. For Buehrle's first home game after perfect game, that's embarrassingly sad. -
Oh ok, I didn't know that. For that cancelled game, will ticketholders be able to use those tickets for any home game, or just May games? I think a lot of those tickets will go unused, which will hurt our average. I thought attendance was based on paid; a lot of games I've been to have had 1/4 empty seats but the attendance was 37K and I always assumed it was paid attendance and not 'gate' attendance. Do you have a link where it shows the rules for calculating attendance? I'm curious to read what it says.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 1, 2009 -> 09:08 PM) Their's was probably a day/night DH with 2 gates. It shouldn't matter since we had a paid attendance # for both the game that was postponed and the 2nd game.
-
Is there any other site that shows current attendance figures? I'm pretty sure MLB and every other site gets their information from that ESPN site. That's pretty pathetic because it's just plain inaccurate. I just did some research, and I added all the attendance #s for all 12 games. Again, this site indicates the average attendance for the White Sox after 12 games: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/attendance I came up with 295,295 excluding the first game of the double header. That means they counted the first game as an attendance of 1. I then added all of the Red Sox attendance figures for their 12 games. They also had a double header. They counted both games of the double header on 4/22. If you're unaware how to get attendance #s, you just go to the team's official site, click on schedule, and then click on the score of each home game. When you click on the score of game 1 of our double header, no attendance number.. when you click on both game 1 and game 2 of Boston's double header, both show attendance figures. I tried emailing ESPN, but it just fell on deaf ears. Who should we contact about this?
-
I noticed before yesterday, we were averaging 28,000 fans. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/attendance That's actually way up from last year at this time. Then we had a double header yesterday, and apparently MLB did not calculate the attendance for the 1st game. The 1st game yesterday did not have an attendance figure and therefore was counted as 0 (2nd game had 25,000). Since the first game had an attendance of 0, our average attendance took a major dip, and it's now at 25,206 (today's game won't be added til tomorrow), and dropped from #16 to #18. I think this is a mistake by MLB, and they should have counted the paid attendance for the 1st game. Did anyone else notice this? Is there a way we can contact MLB and notify them of this?

I just bought this one: Fujifilm FinePix S700 I highly recommend it!

Tigers @ White Sox 9-14-08 GM 1
SouthSidePride05 replied to whitesoxbrian's topic in 2008 Season in Review
I know there were plenty of seats still available in the upper deck for all 3 games this weekend, so that'll stay empty, but do you think the lower level will fill up by the time ESPN airs live? Not that I really care, but this is little bit embarrassing. -
I was hoping for another walk-off. Too bad.. at least we can gain 1/2 game on Minnesota if we win tomorrow night. And 26,000 fans at the Cell today, on a nice 71 degree Sunday.. I don't get it!
-
It all comes down to tonight's game! If the Sox win tonight, we'll win the division. Why tonight? Well.... let's just say, I have a feeling!
-
Talked with one of my friends, who's a season ticket rep, over the weekend, and he said the season ticket plans, like the Ozzie Plans and Split Plans are selling like hot-cakes.. but he added that 9 of 10 families purchasing these plans are saying they're Cubs fans. I asked why in the world are Flubby fans buying these up, and he said it's probably so they can fill up US Cellular Field for the Crosstown Classic. It kind of threw me for a loop.. I hope it's not like home field advantage for the Cubbies..

6/3 - Sox vs. KC, 7:11 CT, WCIU
SouthSidePride05 replied to knightni's topic in 2008 Season in Review
Did Hawk just say "21,000"? That's pretty low for a June game, especially since we're in first place. At least we've got 11 hits tonight.. let's keep it up~ -

SouthSidePride05 replied to knightni's topic in 2008 Season in Review
I'm predicting the lineup will break out tonight and get a bunch of hits... and I'm predicting we'll get more hits (x 1000) than tonight's attendance. For instance 16 hits = 16000 ... will be higher than tonight's attendance. -
It begins with the last game in Tampa Bay, and we all know how tough they are. They're gonna want to do whatever it takes to win that last game of the series, and with our lack of hitting, we're gonna need another miracle on the mound to take the last game of the series. Then we come home to play KC, and it's almost inevitable there will be an embarrassing turnout for those 3 midweek night games. All the talk in town will be about the amazing Cubs and the buzz they're generating, and with only 22,000 in attendance, bringing them down to #20 in average attendance, it could be very disheartening for the team and I can easily see KC stealing those games. Then we play MIN and DET.. nothing is gonna come easy. What I'm dreading most is the series vs the Cubs. We can't hit a damn thing, it's not a slump, we just can't hit, period. Thome, Konerko, Swisher, all easy strikeouts. I wouldn't be surprised seeing the Cubs getting a no hitter vs us, and that would send 2/3 of this city into a frenzy. The series at the Cell will most likely have more Cubs fans in attendance than Sox fans this year, since they're coming off a playoff appearance, they're in first place, they have the best record in baseball, and our season ticket base has completely dropped off to basically half of what it was in '06. Cubbie chants will probably drown out any Sox chants, it's gonna be a nightmare just to watch on tv. I can just see the Cubs taking off in June, and the Sox dropping out of first, and virtually out of contention. But if we can somehow get out of June and still be around first place, I'm betting on us making the playoffs and beating the Cubs in the World Series!!!

Hey, if it loosens 'em up (I'm talking about the players, not the dolls), I'm all for it. -
Official Hate for the Milwaukee Brewers Thread
SouthSidePride05 replied to fathom's topic in The Diamond Club
I wouldn't be surprised if 70% of the fans in Arizona will be Cubs fans. The obnoxious Cubs fans will drown out all the D-Backs fans and it will soon be called.. in the national and local media.. "Wrigley West". If the Cubs win, a sea of blue will fill the streets of Phoenix, and all the locals who don't care, will join in.. and the media will catch all of it. I'm not ready for this madness.. -
Great way to hit #500... Although it would've been nice if hadn't been on a Bears-game day when only 29K were in attendance. Last night 36,000 were there, and the atmosphere was more electric. And a White Sox fan didn't even catch the ball; it was a freakin Orioles fan. With that said.. Congrats Thome!
