  1. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 11:11 AM) I went yesterday and the place WAS rocking. That being said, the players suck for b****ing about attendance when we were there all year and they have pissed this thing away. It is in our hands. Cleveland can't gain ground if we win. They need us to lose. Go out and do your job. I completely agree. It's almost inevitable though that tomorrow it'll be the same players b****ing about attendance in the papers. For tonight's game, the lower level isn't even close to full, and the upper deck is virtually empty. I guess I'll need to turn off the tv after the game and stay away from the papers tonight and tomorrow, win or lose. All we need is a win.. Buehrle needs to step it up, shut em down, and get to the postseason!
  2. QUOTE(POPPY_HIDALGO @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 10:57 AM) Right now I think they need a big crowd cheering them on. The crowd was rockin yesterday when they came back to tie it up at 4 and after Everetts HR the floors must have been shaking. They need a big attendance style hug to get them back on track. Oh and we should all go to see the offense snap out of its funk to put up an 8 spot and to see MB's CG SO. Did you hear Hawk comment on how unusually quiet the crowd was? I was thinking it was very loud with a lot of electricity, and then Hawk says something like that?? Sox fans have been bashed year in and year out, and now our very own Hawk is b****ing about a quiet crowd, when it was obviously not?? That pissed me off. Then 3 times he got way ahead of himself, and called it wrong: Twice he says "Waaay back.. Stretch..Stretch..".. and the ball is caught 20 feet in front of the warning track. and then before Podsednik caught the ball which was almost a homerun, Hawk says "that's gone". I usually like Hawk and DJ, but last night was so freakin frustrating listening to Hawk. And to top it off, before the game was even finished, while the ball was in the air, Hawk says "Mark Buehrle vs Westbrook"...
  3. I'm picking Carl. He's been streaky all year long, from looking lost at the plate to tearing it up against anyone. I have a feeling he'll get back on track tonight. 3 more hours.. I'm just nervous about that first inning. If Garcia can get a 1-2-3 first inning, the crowd will go wild. And then Pods should have a great game.. just keep your foot on the f***in base tonight.
  4. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 08:25 AM) My prediction: Monday - 32000 Tuesday - 24000 Wednesday - 27000 I also want guys like Freddie and Burehle to shut the F up about attendance. Last I checked, those guys were getting rocked in the second half, causing this series to even be important. Your job is to pitch, not comment on the psyches of Sox fans. There should be more than those numbers. But not by much. If there's a huge walk-up tonight, it could be a sellout, but I wouldn't bet on it. Here's my predictions: Mon-37000 Tues-29000 Wed-32000 Whatever the attendance is, I hope it's not the usual late-arriving crowd, and I hope it's louder than any other game this year. All I care about is a win, but I think we'll have a better shot at it if the crowd is loud as hell and pushes the Sox to a W!
  5. QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 09:36 AM) how do i get those vouchers? I got mine from Gene over at WhiteSoxInteractive. His screenname is ewokpelts. In this thread, he says he'll be at Monday night's game handing out the last of his vouchers. You might wanna email or PM him directly.
  6. IF we go on an 8-game winning streak, which wouldn't surprise me if we win today and go on to sweep the Tribe, we could clinch at the last homegame of the season. Everyone seems to be expecting the worst.. let's look at it the other way, and hope for the very best! There is a promotion on Wednesday night. It's teacher's night, and a lot of people who aren't teachers still received the vouchers where you can get UD for $3.50 and LD for $6.50. It's also "Win-a-Jersey-Wednesday".
  7. I'm going Wednesday! Do you think Tuesday's game will start selling anytime soon? Both Monday and Wednesday's games have been selling pretty fast, lower level is full but still the UD is only half full so far. Tuesday's game, the lower level isn't even close to being full. How do you guys think Tuesday's crowd will be? Even if none of the games are sellouts, it should be a WS type atmosphere.. I would hope it's not a late-arriving crowd and there's a deafening roar before the first pitch! It should be a wild series!!
  8. QUOTE(chisoxt @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 06:05 PM) I believe that the fate of this team is now sealed.....This thing has been a leaking balloon for six weeks now, culminating with the devastating extra inning losses against Minn and LAA, an losing three of four to lowly KC. The question in my mind is not if the Sox will lose the divisional lead but when.... My prediction is that they come out flat against Minn and lose Friday night. Then Santana beats them on Saturday and the Twins finish off the sweep on Sunday. Cleveland will take two of three from Kansas City going into the Sox series trailing by 1.5 games... Then, Cleveland will win the first two games of the series and take over first place by next Tuesday. But the Sox will salvage Wednesday's game and move back into first by a half game. I need to polish my crystal ball to see what will happen the rest of the way. If we get swept in Minn and Cleveland takes 2 of 3, the lead would be 2.5.
  9. Who's going to the Cleveland series? The Cell is going to be a mad house, especially if we win! I'm going Wednesday, and I figure if we lose every game before then and Cleveland wins every game (unlikely), the Sox will still have a chance to be in first place if they win on Wednesday. If I wasn't going on Wednesday, I would get good seats for Tuesday. Just a heads up: you can still get lower reserved, section 113, for Tuesday.
  10. It's almost as if they don't have enough in the tank to even get through 9 innings. I don't know why these guys look so tired. This sucks.. There's no way I'll be able to sleep tonight. This is torture!
  11. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 04:01 PM) OZZIE JUST SAID HE IS GOING TO GO TO MIAMI TOMORROW ON THE OFFDAY BECAUSE HE NEEDS A DAY OFF FROM THE CITY OF CHICAGO. NICE QUOTE OZZIE IN THE POST GAME NEWS CONFERENCE What does that tell the rest of your team. What a horrible thing to say.
  12. Speaking of the hurricane, I was watching last night's local coverage, and they were showing the busloads of evacuees being placed in shelters and homes on the southside. I said to my brother "I hope they all get free white sox tickets". What better way to get accustomed to your new home and surroundings than to go to US Cellular Field and watch a Sox game. I hope they all get free tickets.
  13. Here's a question for everyone: Right now the avg attendance stands at 28,879. Do you think the average attendance will be above or below 29K at the end of the regular season? I'm predicting it will be above 29,000 after the last regular season home game, which is WAY UP from 24,000 last year. A 5,000 jump is IMPRESSIVE, and we should all give ourselves a pat on the back!
  14. It's because people don't like going to games with small crowds.. it's kind of depressing. They'd rather put a dent in their wallet to see a game with a full crowd and more electricity, or just wait and save up $$ for the clincher game and playoff games. People are already figuring out how freakin expensive it's gonna be for them to get tix for the ALDS, ALCS, and the WS.
  15. What the heck is your definition of "fairweather"? Sox fans are not fairweather fans; everyone I know who's a Sox fan follows every game on tv or the radio and knows more about the team than any other sports fan. Going to the game has nothing to do with weather you're a true fan or not. That's just ridiculous.
  16. Two months ago, when I was looking over the schedule, I predicted this series to bring out all the negative attendance talk and controversy. There's no way one of these games was going to draw more than 19,000. Last night was family pack night, which increased the attendance to 4,000 over the previous night. I guarantee tonight will be less than 18,000. Ticket sales for the weekend haven't been going through the roof either. You can still get great lower level seats for Friday and Saturday, so I wouldn't be surprised to see less than 30k for each of those games. Brooks Boyer should have seen this coming; he should have seen that embarrassing attendance numbers for this entire week was going to bring out all the local and national media, and it was going to be a slap in the face for the White Sox organization. This week should have been "Sox Pride" week with half price tickets and something else to draw in the fans and been promoted weeks ago to drive up advance ticket sales. You can't expect to have average attendance numbers when we have to contend with the Cubs and the #1 tourist attraction in America.. face it, our fan base is very small compared to the rest of MLB. We're diehards, but there's not enough of us to draw 30k when school's in session.
  17. This is disgusting! I have Green Day's "Wake Me Up When September Ends" playing in the background. Seems appropriate right now. This is getting too hard to watch.
  18. Runs in consecutive innings = HUGE for the Sox. Let's keep this up!
  19. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 03:29 PM) Garland is a sinkerball pitcher. His whole mission in life is to get sink on the ball and let them hit the ball on the ground. Can you imagine if Garland got to pitch against the Sox lineup. No-hitter?!
  20. I think Garland will have a good game tonight. He'll settle down in the 2nd inning, and from then on will be lights out. I'm not worried.. and I feel our offense will explode today.
  21. Hawk has gone nuts. Yesterday he wouldn't let off of Gooch, and now he's talking about cheating. Just keep to the 9 innings of emails.
  22. QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 05:37 PM) I'll take the atmosphere of Konerko taking Grienke deep over the atmosphere of Santana no-hitting us any day. Any day. I'm with you on that one. I love watching the Sox crush any team.
  23. Whoa! I'm shocked. I've been following on game day since the first pitch and never expected the Indians to come back so fast. And now they go ahead . I'm officially scared of the Indians! Thank God we're 8 games up.
  24. September's the last month of regular season home games, and you would think there would be a limited amount of tickets available. I even saw an ad on whitesox.com a couple weeks ago that said 'Get your Tickets for September now, Selling Fast'.. or something like that. Well, I just checked ticketmaster.com and it looks like only half of the lower deck is full for the next homestand. I'm kind of embarrassed because I told a friend of mine from Georgia to buy tix in advance for a September game because they'll likely sell out in August. He's coming next weekend, and you can still get great lower deck tickets for almost all September games. We've had a record year, attendance-wise, and I hope we finish off on a good note, so we don't have to hear the jokes rolling into the playoffs. My point is: Splurge a little! We're all gonna try to go to playoff games, but let's all support the Sox in September also.
